I was really keen to try this place as I run past it everyday. The restaurant is located on what I like to call the ‘second section’ of Hardgrave Road restaurants. They’re next door to a Greek restaurant and a bottle-shop. The restaurant’s layout is pretty cool, they have a chest height counter when you first enter the building which backs onto an open kitchen, and the dining room is adjacent to the kitchen separated by a wall. I ordered Pet Yang, which is pretty much just roast duck served with stir fried vegetables. I think when you have a set-up where a customer can see right through to the kitchen whilst they’re ordering/paying for their meal, then you can’t afford to deliver sub-par food. I was pretty excited to try my dish as they had a brigade of atleast 5 back there and they had no other customers. The food was disappointing, incredibly disappointing and it left me pretty annoyed. The vegetables were barely even cooked and the duck was bland. For half they’re charging($ 16.50), I could’ve hopped on over to Boundary Street and gotten roasted duck, rice and vegetables from Jackpot. Bleh.
