Hemmesphere

So much promise, so little delivered… overpriced and watery cocktails, too cool for school staff. just another venue aimed at the tourists dollar:(((give it a miss

I know people go to Hemmesphere for a certain «upper-​class» experience, but it doesn’t offer anything but that. The cocktails and drinks are fine, I didn’t taste the premium I paid for, nothing stood out to me.
However, the lounges were extremely comfortable, so if you’re looking for a nice place to sit and lounge around (and it’s payday), by all means come here.

This has been a regular haunt over the years, and remains largely unchanged as one of Merivale’s early establishments (har har pardon the pun).
It is still a good place for a relaxing evening and a few drinks with table service. It has however begun to attract a younger crowd and subsequently a little more bad behaviour than previously. I was also amazed to see a number of the hostesses openly fraternising with customers and even drinking on the job. They are extremely friendly…
The food here is good, the wine and alcohol list long and broad, but it can be a struggle to get a seat, since they allow small groups to ‘hold’ large areas for their friends. We got there at around 9pm and although there were plenty of seats unused we struggled to get one we could sit on. To the hostess’s credit she did eventually move people around and we successfully found a corner, regrettably right under a speaker which made conversation hard.
Still a good venue but not so much the place for a quiet drink with a more mature and upmarket crowd that is used to be.

Pretty good service but cocktails over $ 20…Hemmesphere ain’t the hot spot it used to be, so they should probably bring their costs into line too. Nice lounges, nice lighting.

Never knew there was another Merivale bar sitting right on top of the more famous Establishment. Who knew four floors could make such a difference.
This bar was perfect for us as we came in a group of around 10. We were quickly led to the back corner lounges and our orders taken. They have quite an interesting and extensive cocktail list. There is an intimate feel to the bar with chill music at a good level to let you chat without needing to raise your voices.
A good place to sit, relax and catch up with friends away from the loud pumping music, flashing lights and wandering eyes.

Don’t feel like joining the corporate meat market downstairs at the establishment? Then take the lift upstairs and enter a much more sophisticated and laid-​back world. I like to come here when I can’t be bothered to face pumping music and being checked out by suits on a friday night.
You can sit on the lounges and check out the beautiful people coming in the door as you sip on cocktails and wine. Its all very relaxing and a perfect place to wind down after a big stressful week in the corporate world ;)
A bit peckish? sushi e next door on the same level are happy to deliver food to your lounge so you can have the best of both worlds. Perfect!
Surprisingly one of my fave bars in Sydney CBD.
