The Sofitel is well located, the rooms are clean. That is how it gets two stars. The staff is nice, depends on who you talk to. If you have the choice to stay somewhere else chose a place with a view… Somewhere with a little more charm. The is no swimming pool, you have to pay for the Internet, the food is ok, certainly not a vast selection. The bed is comfortable, but it is very soft… Perhaps too soft. There is literally zero view of anything. We had the option of staying in the Shangri-la and we totally regret it.

Sydney Sofitel Wentworth is hiding a little secret in the form of its lounge and bar. There are no qualms about having a nice coffee or dessert(or both) and relaxing in good company and the really nice décor. The space is big enough to look full when hotel patrons or businessmen come in for meetings, but not enough to call it cosy. They have a full bar and television if you’ve just come down from your room and looking to sit with some company. Be prepared to see a myriad of guests from all over the world coming through, it is a hotel after all — when I went we saw the Celtics football team. The drinks are pricey, but this is expected in this uptown five star hotel. The iced chocolate is perfect, and tastes nothing like it’s been mixed with that chocolate ice-cream topping stuff. The coffee here isn’t too bad either. They even put all the effort of having those little sugar cubes and miniature cookies and chocolate on the side that have the girls all excited over. I’m a big fan of cheesecake and the dessert here gets a big thumbs up(except for the fact that I wanted more of it!) It is beautifully presented with a white chocolate curl, naturally sweetened berry compote and a scoop of whipped cream. Delish!
