After reading the reviews, particularly about he cleaning of the tools, I was slightly anxious about my booked nail appointment here. My experience was a good one, they are busy and do rush you in — not much explaining about the options occurs, however I had looked up the menu so was semi clear. They were on time with my booking, I had to clarify inclusions as they were asking me questions about what I was having done — even though I had already paid. It was fast and efficient, they did not want me to leave too soon and kept spraying my nails for drying — I was encouraged to wait for 30+ minutes. I am on day 3 of my mani and pedi and my nails still look great, no chipping or cracking, which is unusual — especially for my nails. I paid attention to hygiene — the cuticle tool was opened from a sealed plastic packet, but the cutters and file were sprayed with the same spray used to dry my nails, not sure why or that that makes them clean so ewwww! I can get a full mani and pedi with exfoliation at my local salon for the same price as this express version, however it is the city and David Jones, so I expected to pay more.

I was here on a Thursday evening to get my nails done two days before my mate’s wedding. This place was packed ! I arrived 10 mins early but my manicurist got impatient as I was trying different colours on my nails. I got seated near the cashier… bad choice. My manicurist walked away at least SIX times through the manicure… she did apologized, but still. is it my problem that you guys are short handed? I liked my manicure but no, I would not be coming back again.

I had the mini-mani tonight(now $ 25) and my manicurist was very sweet… but to my horror at the end of the manicure, she just superficially sprayed and wiped her tools and put them back in her tool bag… is that really sterilizing them? I don’t thnk so! I’m not coming back. I hope I don’t get some creepy cuticle infection. (they also had a shitty range of red shades… bright ones and really dark bluish ones, nothing deep, rich, but not dark) EDIT: So its the following Wednesday(that was a Thursday night) and my manicure is barely chipped at all! Just slightly on my index and middle finger on my right hand, which I use all the time… SUCH A PITY! I googled sanitation practices in nail salons and I was not being a princess, this was gross… so gross. So A+ manicure, but nothing is worth a staph infection, which is a very real possibility in a nail salon with poore sanitation practices. EDIT2: OPI: Vodka & Caviar… thats the red you guys are missing. Its THEBEST red…

Sometimes getting a beauty treatment done is more about the experience rather than purely on the end product. And this is where the David Jones Nail Spa comes in. Had a crappy day at work? Stressed out? Then get yourself a quick manicure, and in line with the high-end location, the David Jones Nail Spa is professional, stock and use OPI Nail Polish(one of the best brands in the world) and is no-nonsense. Treatments range from a quick file and polish for $ 15 to a «Hand Holiday» which is a deluxe treatment for $ 45. They also do pedicure treatments as well. I usually get the DJ’s mini mani for $ 22 which includes cuticles, shape, buff and polish. The girls know what they are doing and are super fast. Make sure to make an appointment as the Nail Spa is super busy on most days. This is a great alternative to the independent nail salons in Westfield.
