Convenient location, open late, fast self checkout. Produce quality is ok, standard. I was hoping to find an upscale market like whole foods but didnt find one downtown, other than david jones basement food hall which is more for gifts. Prices are pretty high at australian grocers… $ 7 raspberries, $ 2.5 organic yogurt. Hopefully aldi makes more of an impact here

Apart from Coles at World Square, I’m not a fan of many Coles stores in the CBD. As I am Asian and discount is my favourite world after free, this Coles store doesn’t bode very well with me as they don’t provide discounts on anything. If I want cheap, I have to buy Coles brand, which is often more expensive than their advertised specials and lower quality. It’s like paying more for less. They should change the song to «down down prices are down except at Coles CBD stores». This Coles does stock all the items you would expect to find in a supermarket and I must say it does have some positives. Even though they don’t do discounting, the vegetable and fruit specials they have on that big board every week are available here. So I suppose by not providing discounts on the yummy things, they’re really just helping to create a healthier world. The service is also amazingly quick here. They have self serve to people on a ratio of about 20:5. This means there are no human errors to be made and getting out and paying is very quick. Take note Woolworths, Coles beats you on amount of lean, green costing machines. Take note: if you like bacon bits, I recommend shopping here at 11pm. All the«freshy baked 6 months ago» rolls will have been purchased with the exception of 3. What happens is there’s lots of loose cheese and bacon bits remaining, given Coles cheese and bacon rolls have bacon which doesn’t stick very well. So if you come here at 11pm, you get a roll and all the loose bacon and cheese grit you can collect with tongs in a bag!!!
