We had the lolli cake. And it was delicious. This spot is the perfect spot for afternoon tea and coffee. It’s a rather small but decorated very nicely.

I started going to luxbite from the very first time they opened and I’ve never had anything I don’t like! They continue to surprise me I love all three desserts and their delicious macaroons!

Yes, a cake that tastes like lolly bags does exist! As seen on Master Chef, this multilayered cake of oozy goodness starts with banana lolly Joconde and finishes with a topping of Redskin glaze! Oooh and the Blue Calpis is also a must!

Did you know that other than their legendary Lolly Bag Cake, Luxbite at South Yarra also do savoury brunch and snacks? With Luxbite’s Malaysian roots you can definitely expect some Malaysian fusion items on the menu as well as the standard eggs on toast. Monkylicious and I recently visited Luxbite to have brunch before the Unilocal at Blackman’s elite event and we had the amazingly melt in your mouth braised beef with egg on creamy mashed potatoes and their beautiful pandan chicken burger. A must visit if you are in the neighbourhood!

Love this little store! I love cakes and lollies so had to try the lolly bag cake of course. It’s quite small for $ 7.50 a slice, but it’s worth it. I would have loved to indulge on the $ 55 full size, but not on my own :) Too naughty. I also tried the peanut butter and jelly macaron for $ 2.75 each, very different. The owner is very friendly and sweet. I would love to come back again and try their other desserts some day.

All I can say is WoW! On an off chance I was looking for places near by and stumbled across LuxBite deserts. These would have to be the best deserts I have had in the last decade. Prices are very reasonable compared to having a sit down desert at a restaurant. This time round we tried the Lolly Cake made from real melted down lollies, the Meringue Monster(just awesome) & Endless Love(Love IT) made from fresh Raspberries. 5 Stars and a thumbs up from the kids.

There is way to much deliciousness in one place. I’ve tried the caramel cravings, blue calpis, and the meringue monster. The highlight to date has to be the meringue monster. You must try it!

A beautiful pageantry of cakes! Of course the famous lolly cake is a must try. I’ll definitely head back here to try the endless love. Enviroment is slow and chillax. Awesome way to start the day. Music sets your mood, the staff is attentive Food is oh so pretty here. Tried the slow braised beef. Is beef supposed to fall of tenderly at a touch? Written like a love song! Didn’t take any photos, because I couldn’t resist it getting cold. Love it! Come at me world! Nothing can go wrong now!

First things first on any visit to LuxBite often plays out in a pet shop like situation; punters practically press their noses against the display window and contemplate which morsel to take in for the day. There’s a lot of «oooh”-ing and«ahhh”-ing, a lot of «oh, but I seriously can’t decide!» and more recently, «THAT’S THEONEFROMMASTERCHEF!» And yes, there was«that cake» — pre cut at $ 7.50 a piece or presented in take home slabs available from $ 35 onwards, dependant on size. I think the best way to experience the ethos behind LuxBite’s fusion offerings is to order the High Tea Set($ 48.00) Included are any two of their signature cakes, two of their equally creative savoury morsels, four macarons of your choice and beverages for two. Their coffee is from Toby’s Estate and it’s beyond delicious — starting from $ 3.50 for a regular cup and $ 4.00 for a large. As far as their breakfast dishes go, the portions are a little on the small side, but I like to think it’s because they know that you’ll be needing room for dessert! I loved both the Lamb, Mint and Rosemary Sausage with 60⁄60 eggs, Avocado, Feta, Tomato Relish, Toast($ 15.00) and Cheese Fondue: Baked Brie, Fruit Chutney with Fig, Apricot and Date Toast($ 15.00) — to me, that’s two unique breakfasts that are as cheap as chips! Must Try Macarons:(4 for $ 11, 8 for $ 22, 12 for $ 30, 16 for $ 40) Bamboo Oolong Tea Pandan Sour Strawberry Peanut Butter & Jelly Heilala Vanilla Crème Brûlée Watermelon & Guava Salted Caramel Green Tea Pistachio Kaya Toast Must Try Cakes: Endless Love($ 9.00) Meringue Monster($ 8.50) The Lolly Bag Cake($ 7.50) Green Tea Cheesecake($ 8.50)

The sweets here are a work of art. As the quote on the window reads, «life is uncertain, eat dessert first»… inspired by this, the only things I’ve eaten here have all been desserts. I know I really should try the food on the menu but as soon as I walk in, all I have eyes for are the desserts. Who could blame me? The huge selection of crazy flavoured macarons and the window full of cakes makes it hard to even consider anything else! LuxBite has an interesting contrast of Malaysian flavours that I’d never tried before and your more standard dessert flavours. The macarons are everything from green tea pistachio, bamboo oolong tea to salted caramel which makes choosing just one an impossible task. Better to buy a few to take home in a gift box! The nostalgic Lolly Bag cake featured on Masterchef a little while ago but personally, I find it harder to resist that Endless Love. The name sums up my feelings towards this over-sized macaron filled with rose cream, lychee ganache and sprinked with fresh raspberries. Ever so sweet and an overload of the colour pink! LuxBite has no bathroom facilities on site and not a lot of seating options. I recommend popping in for a sweet treat and continuing on or ordering something delicious take-away. I think it’s for the best — if I stayed here too long, I’d end up just eating more and more(this is the kind of sweet shop that tests your self control with everything sounding oh so good). Also, many of the desserts here are gluten-free which is good if you’re buying an edible gift for a friend! My birthday is in mid-February if anyone wants to shout me a macaron tower…

Endless love cake $ 75 was clearly a labour of love, Giant macaron with fresh raspberries and lychees, this cake is a perfect combination of sweet, fresh, fruity and light. It looks crazy, and tastes even better. Luxbite looks like a friendly and creative team, with serious love for desserts. If you can think it, they probably can make it We’ve only tried the macarons and this cake so far, but will seriously come back for a sit down cake/tea soon enough, someone quick have another birthday so we can get more cake !

Ok. So this place has gotten a sugar bag load of attention since being featured on Masterchef Australia and I’d have to say rightly so. I couldn’t come here and not try the famous Lolly Bag cake. Inspired by childhood memories of musk sticks, jaffas, spearmint leaves, pop rocks and the almighty redskin! As I walked towards the store on Toorak Rd I was enveloped by the enticing smell of baking cakes. They had me before I had even walked in the door. The Lolly Bag cake was light and delicious and you can really taste the difference in all the layers and distinctly make out which one is which. As Elmo would say it’s a sometimes food, but just consider sometime is just around the corner. Oh and the coffee was great as well. I think I’ll be taking some goodies away with me!

Very chic rather small café … I would consider this place for their fusion French-Malaysian dessert delights than a serious coffee hangout, although using Toby’s Estate product. I notice their tea leaves selection is a must, next time …

Setting the scene: Saturday morning, 10:20am, 4 keen adults, standing outside Luxbite waiting for them to open their doors. ‘Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first’ — a motto Luxbite and I share. Just like a kid in a lolly shop, I found myself being reduced to a child-like state asking my friends«can we have this … oooohhhhh … and this … and what about macarons … do you think 4 is enough!!!» A word of warning before you go through the Luxbite door — someone has to be appointed a food controller. A person who is strong enough to withstand all unreasonable reasons, winges, cries, tantrums and lies. If my friend didn’t step in earlier, I would have bought every single slice of cake and macaron. Instead we had the Endless Love, Monster Meringue, Be My Love and some macarons(flavours: pandan, peanut butter and jelly per Yen’s suggestion, salted caramel). The Monster Meringue was my favourite which was unexpected given it’s look so never judge a book by its cover. We received a fair bit of help from Yen(one of the co-owners) and staff were friendly. Definitely going back again when I’m in Melbourne.

People have been telling me for years that in order to live, let alone survive, you need a sense of balance. Being a hedonist, the scales are heavily tipped to my right and I will both seek out fun and live for the moment whenever I can. This ultimately leads to far too many hangovers and for the most part excessive calorie consumption. In the past I have alluded to the fact that I do attempt to go on very long walks(and recently added the occasional sprint) in order to keep some sort of fitness and also to repress my stomach as I do not want to emulate the appearance of an Oompa Loompa at my ripe and randy young age. In an effort to have some sort of balance, I incorporated my occasional long and meandering 18 km wander with a few stops along the way to placate my wayward ways. The first being at LuxBite in South Yarra. Walking to South Yarra from Southbank really isn’t a big deal and it is actually quite pleasant on a sunny and warm day. Following the river past the rowers on our beautiful(sic) Yarra River and avoiding cyclists is a breeze and once you follow Punt Road to Toorak Road you will find LuxBite. I was impressed with the very modern, bright and clean fit-out. You are immediately drawn to the desserts that that on display in a glass case, perfectly symmetrical in appearance with mirrors on the perimeter to overwhelm your senses as you are forced to choose if you are that way inclined. It would be just as easy to settle with a tea set for two($ 48) which includes two finger sandwiches, two desserts, four macarons and two beverages but I had some other stops planned on this unexpected journey so I wiped the froth from my mouth and the sweat from the back of my neck and opted for some of the tasty desserts; a very attractive raspberry based morsel encased in macarons along with a banana-chocolate-toffee slice. Fortunately I did not have to indulge upon this goodness by myself but it would have been very easy to and also negate the health benefits of the walk however sitting outside with pleasant conversation, a cup of Toby’s Estate coffee and watching the world go by with these beautiful desserts in a very relaxed and calm part of South Yarra is quite an indolent way to spend a lazy and late Sunday morning. The journey was not even close to being completed yet either. There is a brunch menu($ 15/each) with the highlights being the«LuxBite Pork Bun» 2 Ways — bamboo charcoal brioche bun, pulled pork, kimchi, house-made pork jerky and Kewpie but also the heart-killing«Cheese Fondue» which takes about fifteen minutes to prepare. If you are able to avoid the desserts, which is probably an impossible feat, the cheery service will happily serve you an egg on toast($ 7.50) and throw in a few extras like roasted tomato or bacon for an additional $ 2.50/each. Stop around to browse, indulge or just have a good coffee and whittle your day away.

I was sadly disappointed with my experience at LuxBite. Was it because I was there on a gloomy Sunday? Was it because I don’t really actually like macaroons? Perhaps it was because I didn’t care much for the shop’s sterile looking post-modern environment? I’m not sure. However, the music was loud, there was no bathroom on site, and everything was needlessly overpriced. Similarly, there was a relatively small amount of food/snack options, and the seating area was similarly stunted. The upsides? Like any decent caffeine establishment, they provided water with all their coffees. And the coffee! Pretty great! They certainly have quality baristas. I also happened to sit next to some dude who was working on LuxBite’s social media strategy; saw him updating their Facebook page and Twitter page. I always approve of zealous new media interaction between producers and customers, so they get some extra points there. Personally, I don’t think I’d be back too soon. Their food was too overpriced and limited for me, and having to wait for a seat isn’t really something I’m interested in doing. However, for a high quality good coffee, if you’re in the area, LuxBite is certainly adequate.

LuxBite in South Yarra is a superb place to meet people in a modern chic café. This is no grungy Melbourne café with hipsters but a sleek elegant classy offering that fits the Toorak scene. The owners are experienced pastry chefs who love to try the latest techniques and bring amazing creativity and passion to their craft. They love the culinary scene in Melbourne and certainly bring much creativity and finesse to the table. OMG! Straight to the Meringue Monster. This is a famous creation which features greentea sponge, pistachio, watermelon yoghurt, sour strawberry mousse and meringue. It is so delectable. Even filling. The meringue is treated slightly and delicately with a blow torch to get that colour and taste. The flavour combination and balance of this dessert is amazing. The crunch and flavours of the pistachio combine so well with the softer elements. The inclusion of watermelon along with the stawberry is genius. In fact the stawberry mousse is sour. That green tea sponge is also amazing. Together it is a cacophony of flavour. So much going on here and so brilliant. LuxBite is also a great place to take friends and out of towners if you want to impress. The ambience is just so cool. Sleek and inviting. High ceilings and fashionable white wallpaper. Add to that exposed brick. The chairs are of dark timber and generous. Cool modern décor pieces and floral arrangements. Very chic and very modern. Natural light streams in to Luxbite with large front window and skylights. But there is also great mood lighting aspects with hanging bulbs and spotlights. Immediately you are drawn to the high class displays. The cakes are inviting. These cakes are top notch made with great technique and super fresh. After enjoying the Merangue Monster I want to try more — the Caramel Craving or the LuxBite version of Ferrero Rocher. Or a sublime Éclair or Mile Chocolate Mousse. The options are endless and sophisticated. Staff look smart and sharp here — again this is not grunge. Not even hipster. All around are the Toorak crowd looking glamourous. Every visit to LuxBite feels like a sense of occasion. Sit by the window and enjoy the ambience of Toorak Road. Or sit in the main dining area. Superb ambience. The seats at the desk like table against the wall is also pretty cool. Macaroons are incredible here. Of course you must try the salted caramel. Outside crisp but so chewy on the inside. The presentation is also first class with macaroons served on a red tray. Coffee at LuxBite is also first class. My long mac came served on a chic looking black saucer. What a great experience and air of sophistication. The prices here seem reasonable for such quality. Definitely a keeper.

I’ve had the pleasure of being one of LuxBite’s customers from almost the day they opened … and I keep going back. Top-notch macarons complement stunning and superb desserts, catering for chocoholics, fruit fans and everyone in between. I can’t comment on the coffee, but the other beverage fare is good tea, juices, and now some sparkling mineral waters which aren’t simply fizzy sugar-water. And their breakfast(and lunch) menu means it’s no longer a place just for sweets … but, of course, you simply must have dessert after you’ve eaten from their savoury range! Rounding out the experience is lovely ambiance and great service. Do yourself a favour — go.

I love it when places are adventurous enough to try new things, and not just stick to your everyday flavours. LuxBite’s desserts are definitely unique, but above all, they’re very tasty too. The macaroons are all the rage here, and I can see why. With flavours like Kaya Toast, Kaffir Lime and Mandarin and Saffron, how could you resist? But I had other plans in mind. The Oriental Love macaron beckoned me and I answered the call. It was a huge coconut macaron with pineapple curd, pandan cream, caramelised banana and peanut brittle in the middle. Believe it or not, I could taste every element clearly and they all matched together well. Next the Meringue Monster, with white chocolate sponge and strawberry and watermelon mousse, was just asking to be taken down, and I was the one to do it. My god was it good. I gave it a thumbs up, five stars, and my heart to keep. It was light, creamy and summery in flavour. I guess that comes from the combination of watermelon and strawberries. Was I full after devouring two desserts? You bet I was. But unlike in the past I wasn’t put off by my greedy ways, instead I couldn’t wait for the next I’d be able to over-do-it at Luxbite. Oh and by the way, they do have a savoury menu too.

Not wanting to deny myself the chance at sampling the latest macarons in town, I chose to visit Lux Bite, armed with nothing but a sweet tooth. And as most dessert lovers know, it’s best to leave your diet till tomorrow and this is certainly true at this fabulous little eatery. A crystal clear cabinet lined with pretty macarons in distinctly delicious flavours awaits. Make no mistake: these macarons are not your typical sweets and as we soon discovered are highly popular with Malaysians and Singaporeans because of the distinct homegrown flavours created by Malaysian maestros, Bernard Chu and Yen Yee. Try the Kaya toast(coconut and pandan jam on toast), kaffir lime, mandarin and saffron and childhood favourite: peanut butter jelly for a unique twist on this French classic. My favourite however is the humble Watermelon yoghurt macaron just because I think it’s pretty darn hard to get the essence of watermelon spot on and these bite-sized morsels do exactly that. There’s also another clear case of delicious desserts like bread and butter pudding in a rich pandan custard and a cheeky cherry mousse and kirsch doused hazelnut sponge, finished with chocolate spray and a cherry bomb. Can you say yum! LuxBite is also the only place I know that serves Teaforte tea. Perfect for an afternoon cuppa to accompany your sweet feast. Whatever your fancy, one bite certainly will not be enough!
