My favourite local café. Very chic and fits in well with the South yarra crew. Coffee and newspaper on the terrace is a ritual!

Café Gaia South Yarra & Toorak, Melbourne Aug 21, 2014 POSITIVE
Always excellent! As usual the only place in this area that can do the coffee correctly. Nick Sash and Casey are always excellent. –Keegan — – 17 Apr, 2014 — – Since moving to Melbourne in August. I have really enjoyed this place and I frequent it at least twice a week. The staff are extremely jovial and the coffee is consistently excellent. The food prices are sometimes a little stiff as mentioned earlier by someone, but the service and coffee are always on par with the standards one would expect. I always feel welcome here. Although the food can be pricy, it certainly is delicious and a very good balance. Last time I went out of my way from my usual and tried the Egyptian eggs/dukkah/S salmon/beetroot relish etc, and it was delicious!

Consistently good brekkie option in South Yarra. Always buzzing on Saturday mornings, you may experience a small wait before getting seated. Good barista, good coffee. All-day breakfast and lunch options starting at 11:30a. Their big breakfast(eggs, toast, bacon, chorizo, mushrooms [excellent], avocado) is a well-executed Aussie classic. Egyptian eggs were also a highlight. Menu is limited, but they’re good at what they know.

One thing Melbourne excels in is breakfasts. I located this little café tucked in Avoca Street off Toorak Road through Unilocal and a review of the corn fritters alone had me hanging out for breakfast. I order the breakfast piadina which I had thought was bacon and eggs, it came wrapped in a piadina with relish and pesto oil. and was delicious! Probably the best breakfast I ate in Melbourne this visit. I ordered a potato rosti to go with it which was huge! Try this local gem out, great service good coffee outstanding fresh food and a well priced breakfast which will keep you full until well after lunchtime.

Eat here. Seriously. I went to Café Gaia for lunch today and was blown away by the food, the service, and the coffee! The Ocean Trout Piadina I ate was spectacular(fresh and light), and the ice drip coffee was a refreshing change of pace from a typical iced coffee. Ask for the explanation of how the ice drip coffee is made, it takes all night! Café Gaias seem to use as many organic and local products as possible, and it really shows through in the taste! I can’t wait to go here for lunch tomorrow, and brunch this weekend.

This was the first Café I went to when I came to Melbourne and I’ve been back about 10 times since. How’s that for exploring different places in a new city. Fail. Gaia has everything that makes a good brunch experience. The food is café style — which kind of goes without saying — but this food seriously looks and tastes like you’ve bought it from a café and couldn’t just knock it up at home. Which is important to me when I venture out for breakfast. The Corn Fritters are my favourite dish. Sadly last time I went, we missed the breakfast menu and I had to get something else, but I would revert right back to Corn Fritters — the avocado, bacon and delicious Pomegranate sauce make an awesome combo. The Piadina is also amazing as is the Tom Cooper Smoked Salmon dish is good too. Gaia’s leafy South Yarra location is perfect as you can sit outside without the annoyance of busy traffic or footfall but there is enough going on to do some people watching(and dog watching — this area is crawling with small dogs). The staff are service orientated, have engaging, bubbly personalities and actually look like they enjoy their jobs, which also adds to a positive breakfast experience. A great local spot, a sure fire bet to bring out of towners too as well. Solid.

This place is ace! Its always bustling on a Saturday morning for breakfast, brunch, lunch or quick coffee on the go! You may have to wait a little for a seat but its never longer than 5 minutes and if the sun is shining you can alway take a seat right out front and soak up the rays. The quant little café is surrounded by planter boxes and rich terracotta ceramics can be likened to that of a country farmhouse bed and breakfast style with its matching veranda like front yard. The specials always surprise me with interesting choices and unlikely combinations teamed together to make the dining in experience all the more worth while. At $ 12The strawberry, raspberry and apple crumble is always a winner and a really easy take away option to have on the go. If you are a real lover of coffee the staff will share in your appreciation serving the most creaming non-bitter espresso to perfection! They use Padre house blend, Proud Mary and Market Lane single origins.
