I was invited to the Bald Rock this past weekend for a mate’s going away party and couldn’t help but be charmed by this bar. The upper terrace pumped out awesome music the whole night, the bar tenders were really nice, the sticky date pudding put regular restaurants to shame, and I noticed they have a regular movie night. Seriously, what more do you want from a pub? Except maybe serving Balmain Winter Ale in June instead of their Summer Ale. Yeah, that would have been nice.
This is the shiny version of your local pub complete with the game on in every room. I truly expect to find myself back here soon.

Not sure what happened for the previous reviewer, but my experiences have been completely different. It’s warm & cosy, the bar staff are very friendly and happy for a chat, and the food is great. It’s a local’s kind of pub, off the main street, serving up comfort food with a nice long wine list. Happy days here for me!

The food here is atrocious. The pub itself dank and depressing. An historic Balmain pub given no new life or flavour. Poor effort by Mr Silk. For those considering an afternoon beer or evening meal head to any other of the Balmain pubs.

For me was just a pub with 9 beers on the tap.
