This UFO like structure is probably best to visit during the day for photos. With a swosh of the automatic doors, we entered mothership, where we were whisked away into our cozy little table near the fireplace. Port Phillip Estate offers 3 courses for $ 85 and 2 courses for $ 65. We were still quite full from lunch at The Winey Cow so we decided to order two 3 courses and one 2 courses. For entrée I ordered the pan seared scallops with lentils while the girls ordered the risotto blanco, jamon, egg and truffle. I couldn’t really taste truffles on their dish but their eggs are beautifully cooked. Froggy and I prefered the risotto a bit softer though. My pan seared scallops were just perfect, but yet again my lentils are quite hard for my liking. For my mains I debated between the sea perch/clam/mussels or the pheasant and chose the pheasant with pomme gaufrette. Little did I know pomme gaufrette meant waffle fries LOL. I can now be a food snob and say I love having pomme gaufrette. Anyway, the flavours of the pheasant was delish, but I felt that some bits of it are a bit dry and tough. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, but I was wistfully thinking I would probably enjoy the sea perch more. Froggy’s organic suckling pig was very good. The crispy skin and tender meat made a really great combo. Monky’s ox fillet was equally yummy and beautifully medium rare. Last course, we decided to share a cheese platter which is extremely large for one person! We chose a brie, roquefort and goat cheese. They were all so yummy but soooooo filling! Monky was sad that her dessert last night was crap, so she wanted a good dessert tonight. Thankfully, Port Phillip Estate did not disappoint. Mandarin icecream, lime crumble, curd and citrus sherbet gave multiple citrus bursts all over. Yum Yum Yum! We rolled out with very full bellies and happy hearts.

Brilliant and elegant dining experience. My supervisor had been here several times w his partner so I was thrilled when he brought our whole team here for our xmas lunch. Thr only negative was the awful(my mate’s adjective) hot chocolate. But I had a perfect meal from wine tasting to dessert.

This is one impressive winery. As you drive in to the carpark, you’re greeted by a vast James Bond-esque exterior that hints at what’s to come. Inside; a giant space with one of the most breathtaking views in Mornington. To the left is the restaurant and to the right a tasting area along with a more casual dining area. In the centre is an outdoor deck that offers the best views and allows for a little fresh air between samples at the tasting counter. We only visited for the cellar door and sampled a great number of wines. On tasting is a limited selection, with more premium options available for those(like us) who express interest in museum or special releases. The Chardonnay here is pretty special. Skip the Port Phillip Estate branded bottles(you can get them in bottle shops when your’e home) and instead stick to those special bottles you won’t be able to find. Pro tip: make sure your credit card is loaded because you’re going to blow some serious coin here.

We stopped by here on a Tuesday for lunch and had a very nice meal. Wine-tasting is included for those who have lunch or dinner here so be sure to try some of the options. I’m not a huge wine fan though so that wasn’t the highlight for me(but others in my party enjoyed it). Rather, I focused on the delicious food. I had a fish dish that was terrific. We ordered and shared — there’s plenty of these to go around — the roasted garlic and rosemary potatoes and also the house salad(with very yummy grilled Spanish cheese included!). My friends were also pleased with their choices from among the specials. For dessert, we decided to share the cobbler. It was a mistake as that was one of the most delicious cobblers I have ever tasted! Definitely leave room for it.(On our day, it was blueberry and other berries, I suspect it’s a seasonal dish, but would assume it’s great no matter the season.) We were seated next to the window so had a beautiful view of the area. There was a big party for wine tasting while we were lunching, but the room is spacious and the sound insulation done well as they did not disturb us. I’m happy to recommend this spot, it’s unlikely you’ll be disappointed.

This restaurant /celler door is a very fine art of Architecture by Wood /Marsh Architecture. The menu is also well architected by chef Simon West. We now have been here twice, and everytime we love and enjoy the whole experience. The venue, the menu, the wine, the service. Everything blend so well together. I will have to come back to this review on dishes that we had. All produces was presented to us as its finest. Presentation on each dishes are truely impressive as well. Wonder how many people works in their kitchen! I will bring overseas tourist to this lovely place, which is only less than a couple of hours drive from Melbourne. Well worth it. meow…
