Only did a wine tasting, not food. They have perfected their whites by using 8 – 10 year old oak barrels. Adds a really nice smoothness and complexity in pinot gris and sav blanc — totally eliminating acidity. My favourite was the estate pinot noir though. It’s the epitomy of what pinot should be. But — the cellar door is very upmarket and pricey to buy a bottle. If money isn’t an issue and you want wine done right, definately worth a trip.

My husband and I came here for a wedding and OMG it was by far the best food we have tried at a wedding!(Can’t imagine how good their everyday menu would be) The atmosphere and the location was stunning. The staff were warm and friendly, and the food was incredible. You just have to go to believe it. Will definitely come back :)

There’s nothing that isn’t amazing about ’10 X’. We already had hardcore crushes on their wine — some of Victoria’s best Pinot Noir in our opinion — but we had the pleasure of attending a wedding here late last year and were blown away at the food, the professionalism, the friendliness, and of course were just ridiculously excited to be drinking their wine all night long. Chatted to Graham, who was running the event, and he said they only do 3 – 4 weddings a year, so my friends were lucky to be able to sneak in. He said they enjoyed doing them, but they didn’t want to be known as wedding venue, instead focusing on the wine and the day-to-day running of the restaurant. Having recently been hitched ourselves, we were very attuned to the behind-the-scenes running of things, and most impressed. The happy couple are already planning to head back down there for their year anniversary and I hope they don’t mind if we tag along!

My first reaction was of a restaurant that was clearly busy but nicely laid out. Instead of being too noisy, we easily held a conversation. Ambience got a big tick. We chose two courses each from the a la carte menu and that proved to be plenty to eat. Waiting staff had a good knowledge of the wine options. I started with a goat ragu and Kate had a roasted winter tart, accompanied with Chardonnay. Kate had a fabulous eye fillet with a slow cooked beef cheek. I had kangaroo accompanied with a Pinot noir. Staff explained all of the ingredients of each course. It was a very pleasant evening.

This is one of the finest establishments on the Mornington Peninsula. I feel lucky to have eaten here twice. Once I did the 12 course degustation experience(a Christmas present from my parents) with my fiancé. We included the wine pairing and had a wonderful time. Our waiter, Graham paired the wines perfectly with what was coming out from the kitchen window. Modern scientific styles of cooking such a souvit and use of nitrogen with beautiful plating techniques made for an amazing dining experience. The wines produced by the winery are really high quality too. The pinot and chardonay from the single estates are all I’d drink if I could. Staff are all very knowledgeable and clearly super passionate about the wine and food they produce.

Went to ten minutes by tractor for my birthday and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely lived up to the two hat status the good food guide gives it. The tuna entrée was amazing with heaps of flavour coming from the dill gazpacho. For main I had the duck with black quinoa, parsnips and grilled peaches. The duck was heaven with a gorgeous crispy skin with a hint of saltiness and the black quinoa was sticky and sweet. For dessert I had the chocolate dessert with cherry compote, brioche, brioche Icecream and chocolate soil. The chocolate mousse was incredible and chocolate literally burst in my mouth like pop rocks. Overall the meal was divine and I will definitely come back!

Wonderful! The service, the food, the plating… All amazing. We loved everything we sampled here, and found it to be well worth the money spent. Our waiter was pleasant, knowledgable and prompt. I had the rabbit for entrée and the duck for main. Divine! Highly recommend dining here, it is my new favourite on the Peninsula!

We had abeautiful evening at Ten Minutes by Tractor. Our party tasted the 5-course degustration with matched wines(both local and ‘something different’) and had a great time. The quality of food, the presentation and quantity was plenty. We had lovely service and woudl definitely recommend for special event like 40th birthday or anniversary.

Hungry kids go hungry Condescending Maître d’ We had an awful experience here. The Mornington Peninsula hosts some of the best wineries and winery restaurants in Australia. We travel with our two children(under 5) and are meticulous with our bookings to let the restaurants know they may not«take» to their menu. In all the places we have been, it has not been a problem to bring some form of sustenance for our children so they don’t go hungry, especially with the long waiting times required for food service(especially for our 18 month one) and that they don’t often want anything from an adult menu. Most places we have been have a children ‘s menu. After booking online, my wife tried to call to speak to someone to see if this was OK to no avail. Recorded message. Book online. We show, and are seated pleasantly by the wait staff. We proceed to feed hungry children. No problem. We are given drinks. We place our orders. No problem. We are served the tasting dish. No problem. Then the maître d’ saunters over and forbids us to let our children finish what we brought them and what they had been eating for the last 20 minutes. We tried to negotiate with him and said we went through the menu and there was nothing the 18 month would want and the 5 year old wanted or he would have from a modified adult dish(there is no children’s menu). We told him we called but were redirected to the website, though there was nothing on the website about forbidden food practices. He wouldn’t budge. We knew from his manner that he wanted us out of there. His thickly dripping condescension won out. We left as he ushered us out the door with a smile across his face. So, I can’t tell you about the food. I can’t tell you about the wine. But I can tell you that as parents, we have an obligation to make sure our children don’t go hungry while we eat. This restaurant needs to reconsider their concept of service, which includes not making their guests feel guilty about not making their children go hungry. If they can’t do that, clearly state, that they effectively discourage children from attending.(Perhaps they should be checked in the door, or left in the adjoining shed before entering?). Thankfully there are many other places in the region who couldn’t give a hoot and even welcome children. Now there’s an idea.

You can’t come to Mornington Peninsula and not taste the region’s fantastic vinous offerings — we were bowled over by Foxeys Hangout(see part 1) and found similarly good tipple at Ten Minutes by Tractor(if on a slightly larger, more corporate scale)
