Great service. The wait staff were very attentive. I loved the interior decoration. There was a fire and it made the atmosphere very cosy. The food options are extensive. I liked that there was cider on tap. There is an impressive high end wine shop adjoining the main bar area. There is also a great outdoor seating area.

Checks all the boxes: Delicious Great Staff Reasonable servings Atmosphere Enjoyed our meal sitting in the cellar — very intimate. Was a shame to see it so empty on a Saturday night, it’s very under-rated.

Dined here on a Sunday for brunch our food took half hour to come out! That’s a bit too long to wait when we were both hungry. Coffee was very good, food was good, poached eggs cooked well. Friendly staff.

Definitely a nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine and a snack! Having Steve’s located near my work — means this happens regularly. They have a great wine list and also wine store onsite. For a change, I went to Steve’s for brief lunch with my colleague and only took one look at the menu and we both spotted the honey roasted carrot & fennel salad. We decided to add extra chicken as I prefer my salad with bit of protein(there was also option for prawn or salmon at extra cost). The salad was fresh and filling — soft feta they used was delicious. The food came out within 10 minutes of order which was good as we didn’t have much time to waste. I really enjoyed the salad — it was bit pricey $ 24 with chicken but I didn’t mind it as it was very tasty. This place can get a bit busy as it is about 500m from UWA Business School. So far I have always had pleasant experience at Steve’s and would recommend it if you are in the area.

Second visit to Steve’s this arvo. First time was for dinner & I had a mushroom soup & a Bloody Mary which was pretty alright. Today we had a staff lunch, & I was late so everyone else had already ordered. Having already had brunch, I thought I’d go for something light so I ordered the fish nibbles. My appetiser came first & looked great, but it only took one bite to realise it was all batter & tiny specks of fish leftovers. All I got with each bite was batter & dip(which was actually quite nice, but maybe just in comparison), & the bits of fish were like fish jerky. It was like as if they deep fried the leftovers from someone else’s fish mains from last week. So there I was smiling politely & trying not to be too obvious about getting served first when I ordered last, & also politely not complaining about my food when in fact I’ve already had brunch before & everyone else had been waiting much longer & were all starving. Eventually their food came. I didn’t realise it took almost an hour to make salad. Its not like they had to wait for seeds to grow into leaves right? A plate of pan fried chorizo garnished with coriander doesn’t take 40mins to cook. Not like it was a busy packed out joint or anything. Nobody seemed impressed with their food either, except maybe for the burgers being decent, but not anything to go out of your way about. The water jugs weren’t diligently filled, & we even had to ask twice before the wait staff stopped just walking past us glazing over uncleared plates & empty cups. For the prices they charge, & the miscellaneous European accented staff they hired, you’d think they were aiming for a higher class establishment to cater to a fancy clientèle. I suppose it’s just catering to people who care more about spending money & looking fancy at a fancy décor venue than actually good quality food & service.

I visited Steves as part of a Champagne Masterclass and I think it is an absolutely beautiful setting and laid-out so well. If you are a wine-lover, look no further! You can read more about my experience at the masterclass here:

Just visited for a weekend night cap… «experienced» clientele. Good scotch selection and ambiance.

Simple review. The steak was simply something that was not edible. The service and everything else was great. It was a one bite effort.

Cellar Dining — exclusive dining in Steve’s Cellar amongst thousands of dollar of wine is an exciting concept. Lovely temperature, surrounded by magnums of Penfolds Grange laying peacefully like vampires in sleep amongst many more bottles of vino, strong heavy chairs exuding quality. The food and wine selection is very good but the setting lacked ambience, colour and an appropriate sound system which means we, the diners, have to create the mood as well.

The standard new suburban pub fit out strikes again! Steves looks much like The Floreat or Botanica. The crowd was largely over 50 when I visited on a Friday afternoon. Didn’t get a chance to try the food.

Went here for a late Sunday breakfast. The options were rather limited but the big breakfast was amazing and certainly big. I was really hungry so if felt like it took forever but it didn’t really. I love my breakfast and think they need more options for me to return. The homemade hash browns are a must if you go! While we were there another group had booked a brunch event outside with cocktail style food this looked amazing as it waltzed on past me. I have put it into my memory bank for an event idea in future. They had two long tables and had decorated them beautifully.

I’ve only been here in the mid morning for coffee and snacks but I love love love the café. There is something to be said for having a place that has plenty of space to accommodate prams. It makes life so much easier. You can sit inside, outside, or near the open doors for that inbetween feel.

Great venue. Recently refurbished. Nice combination of Restaurant seating — garden seating and high tables and chairs near the bar. There is a lively fire right in the centre. The menu is reasonably priced and the patrons are of a mature age. It is a trendy spot though so don’t mistake mature for fuddy duddy. Street parking mainly as the hotel car park is very small. There is a good wine list and a bottle shop attached to the hotel. Great place for casually catching up with friends for a meal or a drink.
