It’s so handy having this Vintage Cellars nearby in ChinaTown. You can swing past on your way to one of the many BYO places in ChinaTown and pick up a bottle of wine or beers from here. The store has Chinese translations for most signage in and outside the store(It is in ChinaTown after all), but most of all provides a great range of beers, ciders, wines and spirits. The beverages in here are quite cheap, they always have a range that are stocked up in the aisle and presented with a great price. You can find a bottle of red or white for around %10, and usually have spirits 2 for $ 60. The staff are outstanding here, all very friendly and happy to help with any recommendations. Quite frequently there’s a chipper young blonde behind the counter who has a laugh or two in her.

Vintage Cellars is a bottleshop with various locations throughout Australia. Yes, it is a chain; however, there’s a lot to be said about this particular Vintage Cellars in Chinatown. One of the important things you need to know about this place is that it has the best selection of wine in Chinatown. Most of the other bottleshops have a very limited wine selection, particularly the bottleshop at the Exford hotel. Since most Chinese restaurants are BYO, it’s important to have a centrally located bottleshop that sells more than Australian shiraz and New Zealand sauvignon blanc. Another important thing you need to know is that this Vintage Cellars has some awesome price cuts! I was in there once and they had a bottle of champagne for 30% off. I mean a real bottle of champagne, not just sparkling. That’s a good deal considering a cheap bottle of champagne is usually $ 60. Maybe you’re not looking for variety, but if you are looking for a decent bottle of wine at affordable prices(a standard price check for me is the Oyster Bay Pinot Noir — at Vintage Cellars it’s around $ 20, which is the average price), Vintage Cellars is for you.
