Serafino Wines & Cellar Door

We’ve been to Serafino’s twice on a Scoopon offer. On the first occasions the offer was for overnight accommodation (very handy when enjoying all Mclaren Vale has to offer to be able to stay there) and a full dinner and on the second occasion the dinner was two courses but they included a breakfast. Both were great value. The winery itself is good, perhaps 3 – 4 stars, although I don’t recall being impressed by any particular wine I tasted. The accommodation is easy to get to, tucked in behind their cellar door, with lovely gardens, peaceful and quite. It’s spacious and comfortable but quite dated and could do with some improvements and some ‘interior warmth’ (also, watch your knees when on the toilet). The food, both dinner and breakfast, were stand-​outs. Lovely table service, great choice of local wine, well crafted and delicious meals, the feel of an expensive restaurant (and with the Scoopon it certainly wasn’t expensive). Worth a visit for the food and if you happen to see a Scoopon deal, do it.

Wines are tasty HOWEVER the lady who severed us was atrocious. She had no interest in talking to us or telling us about their wines. She didn’t bother to tell us about the list or tasting option, and therefore missed some varietals that we would have liked to try & buy. Very disappointed as it wasn’t even busy. Shame.
