I live in Marrickville and there is no shortage of Vietnamese options within walking distance of my home. As a newbie to the area, I am still making my way through the options but so far I have been to Thuy Huong twice. The Beef Phở is good — the rare beef is really really tender and the broth gives me the impression that it would help me fight off even the worst winter cold. There is a central communal table that just gets separated depending on the size of your party surrounded by tables of 2&4 so its probably not the ideal place for a first date(or a last for that matter) unless you don’t mind your neighbours eavesdropping. Service is quick and typical of an asian restaurant of this price point — no fuss. Plenty of condiments to choose from to season your dish to your taste.

Thuy Huong got a new fit out and inside it is quite nice and new. The menu’s are proper book menu’s and not dodgy so thumbs up for that We ordered phở as well as a mango shake. The mango shake was sweet, thick and exactly what I wanted. The phở was amazing, hot and tasty. Broth was really good and I just love the noodles. The meat was rare and when cooked by the broth it was just perfect. I really liked Thuy Huong so I will come here again.

Another of the several Vietnamese places along this stretch of Illawarra Road. Not as fancy looking as some of the others following the various refits, but the food is still good. The phở may not have quite as many chunks of meat as the others nearby, but the broth here is the tastiest. Today I had some caramelised pepper pork that was sticky, oh-so-peppery, and pretty tasty(though a few pieces were on the chewy side). But overall very yum.
