Le Montage was the venue of a wedding reception I attended in Sydney and it was beautiful. This venue faces the water so there’s a view of the boats and it also gets chilly. Since we arrived early for the reception, we weren’t allowed to go in, even if it was to use the restroom the guests weren’t allowed to enter, they were very strict on this rule. And it was freakin freezing cold out. Since we had no choice, we tried to keep warm with their small coffee stand next door. When we finally entered the place, we were greeted with a spiral staircase leading us towards the garden area where they served hors d’oeuvres. The staff were pleasant in trying to distribute them. For the amount of guests for this wedding, this garden was a tad tight for us since we were elbow to elbow but luckily we didn’t have to stay out there too long and was able to go into the main hall. The inside had nice lighting designs but also made it hard to take pictures around the dance floor area. There were round tables around the dance floor with the couple and wedding entourage up front at the presidential tables. This venue allowed sparklers and mist makers which added a stylish touch to the program. For the food, it was a set four course menu that every other person would get something different, so 5 of us would either get meat or fish, then if you didn’t like what you got, just swamp it with the person next to you. This was my first time experiencing a menu like that and I liked since sometimes at weddings I end up like the person’s plate better than mine. In general the food and dessert was pretty standard, nothing stood out to me but it wasn’t bad. Overall, this place is a classy and elegant place to hold a wedding reception and a parking is free around the venue.

I have run and walked past Le Montage many times on the Bay Run and finally got the opportunity to attend a wedding there. Your mileage may vary depending on the package. Plus weddings are big events so there are a lot of other variables that could play a factor in you enjoying the night. I really enjoyed my night, the finger food on the table at the start was quite snack worthy. It was Lebanese style, the natives did complain about it, but being a non-native(although frequent eater) it was good enough for me. Entrees were 2 different types of pasta which were both very nice. Mains were lamb and chicken, I didn’t get too eat much of it(crazy 2 year old was given free reign and was going… crazy), but from what I did eat and what I heard was all positive. Dessert was also very good. We got kids meals too, pasta and chicken burger, it was nice but the kid was too busy dancing to eat! I did hear about GST being charged twice which had to be pointed out(which is a lot for a wedding) so be wary when paying. Plus there were a couple of audio issues with music cutting out(not sure if that was the venues fault or not). So not an entirely perfect night but still a fun night out.

This place is astoundingly incapable of catering for any sort of function. The staff are unimaginably slow and arrogantly dismissive of the needs of all the guests. I can not advise more intently against booking this place for any sort of function.

Have always been here for many function dinners and was first time for a wedding. I must say their wedding hospitality is much better than corporate functions. Never really knew there would be a difference and yet there is… It’s a tricky place to get to if you don’t know the shortcuts, and if you do you’ll end up to a place that looks like a separate island. A spectacular waterfront at night with up to 4 function rooms, an outdoor terrace, a boardroom and a great family lunch venue on the weekends. Food wise will depend on your budget and the more you pay the better the quality. There are even options for premium upgrades for a few dollar extra per person basis. Though I must rate their desserts as this has never disappointed me in the past! Their steaks, pork chops, pork bellies, chicken breast, spatchcocks and fish have good and bad times, lacks consistency. Desserts and entrees are their specialities so far for me. Also, their wedding hospitality is awesome and their wedding function specialist is a man named John and he is awesome!!! Made my night.
