If you’re planning to come I highly suggest that you come on dinner instead of breakfast and lunch. Been here trice, brunch twice and recently we came at night for dinner. Morning mostly is crowded and busy, very slow service of course, at night still a little busy yet I think they have more staffs to cater all the costumers. Great seafood delis, Eggs Benedict with salmon was also good. Other items on the menu are quite not impressive.

Thoughtless staff, smoking on the street during prep time. Also, at Kirribilli, the garfish van is parked blocking the narrow road. Not a good neighbour and this is reflected in the service which is at best indolent.

On arrival the staff did not even crack a smile, service ordinary, almost unfriendly, food was above average, my bacon was pretty under cooked, coffee just above average(I have a short black)

We had appetizers, mains and dessert and everything was seriously good :-) Really enjoyed dinner here and the service was great — very attentive… Would definitely come back and also no problems recommending… the cheese course at the end was particularly good :-)

Far more attentive service from the wait staff lately. Someone must have put a rocket up them.

Came in on a Tuesday night. Plenty of open tables for one. Was seated right away and waiter was there within a minute with drink and food menus. He explained the blackboard to me(also handed as a sheet of paper) which explains their fish selection for that day fresh from the market. I opted for the fish and chips of the a la cart menu(as I’ve heard rave reviews of it). I was born and raised in Wisconsin(USA), the fish fry capital of the world so I’ve had my fare share of good and bad fried fish. This is BYFAR the BEST fish and chips I have ever had. I almost got on to go it was so good. Highly recommend!!!

Incredibly strict & complicated opening hours makes eating here bear impossible. Breakfast /lunch /dinner served at hours with gaps where there is NOFOODSERVICE between. Odd for a restaurant. Too difficult to bother. Crows nest is good though. And less attitude.

Solid good seafood. Very fresh selections of a wide range of fish options. Decent wine list. Service good, if a little inattentive.

This restaurant has a terrible ‘no booking’ policy except between 6 and 6.30pm. I arrived at 6.45pm and was told there were no free tables for hours, despite there being seats for at least 12 free across a mixture of table sizes, because they were ‘booked out’. I challenged them as it was after 6.30 all they could say was the tables were reserved… Yet they hadn’t let me reserve one? Forget it. Not worth the hassle.

Absolutely delicious — my favorite part is that you can pick your fish, then pick how it’s prepared(grilled, spiced, etc). If they have the Garfish Shiraz, get it! It’s my favorite, and they won’t tell me who supplies them. I know it’s a Mudgee Shiraz, so my eternal quests is to try them all until I find it.

We are tourists looking for some good food in a non-touristy place. We found it at Garfish. The food was delicious. My husband and I had fresh fish from the blackboard menu and both dishes tasted great. We ordered the pineapple & coconut flourless cake for dessert and it was served warm and it was very moist. I would recommend this location and it’s so easy to get to from the Metro. We will probably be back before we leave Sydney.

Garfish showcases a range of delectable seafood dishes on its fine dining menu. The mussels are simply divine and are what brings me back to Garfish time and time again. While I prefer Garfish Manly because of the views, Garfish in Kirribilli is just as exquisite in terms of the food and service. The food always has abundant flavour and is super fresh– none of that out of the frozen packet stuff that some places use in the dishes. Everything at Garfish is super authentic and the décor is very stylish. The outdoor heaters are also a major plus on a freezing Winter’s night. — this restaurant is popular for a reason. Unfortunately they don’t take bookings, so get there early to avoid dissapointment.

I’m a massive fan of seafood, and Garfish serves it up uncomplicated, market fresh and always delicious. They have a couple of other outposts in Manly and Crows Nest, but this one would have to be my favourite for the harbourside location and reliably busy neighbourhood on any given weeknight. They don’t take reservations for dinner and usually start getting busy from 6.30-ish onwards, so you might have to put your name down for a table and come back later(the Kirribilli Hotel is just down the road, for those who like a pre-meal vino). In summer, the outdoor tables are the way to go at this little diner. While the menu does offer some modern Australian vegetarian and meat dishes, it’s the fish and seafood that you should really come here for. They’ll have a couple of regulars on the menu, say their classic fish and chips or snapper pie, but the blackboard heralds the catch of the day — there are usually a couple of pink(salmon, ocean trout, etc) and white(snapper, kingfish, etc) options. Choose if you’d like it grilled, spiced, roasted or steamed and then select your accompanying garnish, such as mashed potato with tomato relish or sautéed mushrooms with peas and thyme. The prices are pretty friendly considering the quality of the produce — you’ll pay around $ 30 for a main course of fish. What could be better than topping off your meal with waffles? it’s their specialty, and the version with white chocolate sauce, vanilla bean ice cream and berry salad that I tried was amazing.

I adore Garfish. It’s high-end casual seafood dining at it’s very best. You pay for what you get and with seafood, it’s worth the few extra dollars to get the best. The Blackboard menu changes daily though it includes six of the best fish available at market. You selected how you would like your fish to be cooked: grilled, battered, roasted etc and choose an accompanying garnish; these vary but it could be something like roasted tomatoes and rocket or risotto. The servings of fish alone are substantial but we always go for sides too — because we’re little piggies. The Mash is to die for — literally probably, as it tastes like it’s 50% butter and olive oil. Unbelievably good. Kids meals are good too and the outdoor setting in Kirribilli makes it just perfect for that earlyish dinner. Leave room for dessert or forgo the entrée. I once had a Licorice Parfait with lime syrup from there that has to be one of my best food experiences EVER. Go, you will not be disappointed. They take reservations for lunch and before 6.30pm for dinner only, so call ahead to let them know you’re coming.

There are three Garfish locations in north Sydney. This Kirribilli one is a pleasant café just off a moderately busy corner at the bottom of the Harbour Bridge stairs, by Milsons Point rail station. The dozen covered outdoor seats are extremely popular with locals brunching on the weekends. Their eggs on toast were good(I had mine poached), and the tomato relish was superb. There’s a variety of breakfasts to be had, from light and healthy to very tasty and very bad for you. Great coffee.
