What a great way to celebrate my 30th birthday! We made a booking but that didn’t matter as there were a few free tables when we got there. We had booked for 2pm– a nice lazy late Sunday lunch. The waiter was not fussed that we were early and said we could sit where we liked. We looked over the drinks menu– a great selection on SA and international wine, but maybe need a few more beers. My husband had a tasty Spanish beer. We selected the degustation and were asked if we had any dietary requirements. My husband doesn’t eat seafood so we suggested we have a lot of beef dishes instead. The chef cooked us up a storm and even a dish or two that was not on the current menu. I was so impressed when the chef delivered dishes to our table and explained what we were eating. We were told the degustation would take approx 2 hours and think we were there all up for about 2 and a half. Just the way I like to spend my Sundays! We were so full and happy by the end.

Great new venue in Glenelg South. Peru comes to Adelaide with a great selection of traditional South American tapas style dishes. From fried Yucca Balls(a potato like root) to BBQ octopus and a variety of chili infused dishes. Chicken, pork and beef are big. While service is a bit haphazard, it is friendly and attentive; look for the waiter with a range of mystifying card tricks! Worth a visit; we need places like Mezisto Cocina.

It’s a good time to eat in Glenelg! With several great restaurants and cafés now open, this one just adds to the rest of yummy choices on offer! A Peruvian restaurant with a liquor license contains a rare choice of foods, all of which are delicious. Watch out though, their menus contain a lot of technical jargon which doesn’t elaborate on what the words mean. This can leave you with a rather spicy meal! Despite the lack of digital footprint, the restaurant is very busy, often requiring a booking if you want a guaranteed seat. The wait for a table can be quite painful though and you might need to settle for the awkward low tables and slightly higher chairs. The food is minimal but filling and very tasty. There is currently only one desert option and the night we went, they had run out. Several of the food places that are open would benefit from more desert options, otherwise a night desert restaurant would be the next best thing.
