Must be the best Yum Cha place I have ever been to outside of Hong Kong! The food is fresh and tasty! I don’t think that any other Yum Cha place in Melbourne comes close! Do yourselves a favour, if you like Yum Cha, put this place on your list and go.

Imperial Kingdom is on the corner of Waverley Rd and Blackburn Rd, This building is an eyesore, old and worn out with faded letters and broken lights– at least it’s easy to find. I know, I know, don’t judge a book by its cover. I come here pretty often for Yum Cha and I usually enjoy my time here. They offer majority of your traditional dim sums and carts frequently pass by(this can depend on where you’re sitting though). This place offers relatively good food, it’s nothing extraordinary that you would remember– but its definitely enjoyable and satisfactory. I’ve been here for dinner too, but I find their Yum Cha to be better. It’s not that their dinner is bad, it’s just that it quite standard and average. In a suburb where one can find ample Chinese restaurants, average sometimes just isn’t good enough. That said, if you have a large group– then this place could easily accommodate you. It has a large dining area with big round dining tables at the back. Overall I would suggest Imperial Kingdom only if it is local to you, I wouldn’t go out of way to eat here– but if I’m in the area, I’m more than happy to.

Nothing beats a Sunday afternoon for me than digging into some Yum Cha, and that’s especially relevant if its at Imperial Kingdom. I could honestly sit there all day eating their prawn dumplings. They are divine! So fresh, and full of flavour. If seafood isn’t your thing, be sure to try the steamed and baked pork buns. The BBQ pork filling has just the right amount of sweetness. Also worth trying is the sticky rice, the chinese broccoli, and if you’re up for dessert, the custard buns. Set aside around $ 30 per person, but really you can spend as much or as little as you like, depending on just how indulgent you want to be!
