It’s not a «Village» or a «Hoyts» instead it’s one of the very few indie cinemas still alive in Victoria! Forget stadium seating, massive screens, and super over-priced ticket prices. This is the type of cinema you went to with your parents when you were young, colorful neon lights, daggy retro carpets, the perfect retro date night cinema! Come here if you want to see a film for a acceptable price and are happy with the basics, a screen and a chair :) If more places existed like this, people would be able to afford to go to the cinemas again!

Who wouldn’t love a night at the movies for less than a blue note? Well, maybe those who could afford more. Waverley has been chugging along for as long as I can remember — I think the first time I went there was to see Toy Story 2 come out(which was 1999 I believe). Sure, the screen is only a little bigger than some of the fancy projectors you can find in people’s houses these days, and sure, the seats aren’t that great. Overlook this, though, and see the charm and the fun in going to see a movie here. Really.

This cinema is a fantastic option for a family night out, as the tickets are soo cheap. The cinema has an old style feel to it. Very cosy and the staff are friendly. It can get quite busy, and on the odd occasion I’ve gone their and been told their are no seats left, but to avoid this you can book in advance. They seem to be a few weeks behind the bigger chain cinemas, which can be a good thing if you are like me and don’t get the time to get out to the movies much. Also worth noting they only accept cash.

The cinemas at Pinewood are a very underrated option for a movie night. The cinemas themselves are small, but they’re comfortable enough and they’re really, really cheap. I mean, an adult ticket for $ 11? How much is one of the bigger chains? I don’t think concession tickets are that cheap! The movies tend to be a little bit older, as in they’re not the newest blockbuster released. They’re new-ish, so if you can wait to see a movie, this place is a great option. Apart from that, the rest of the experience is pretty similar to other cinemas. The service is good, with the staff being friendly(it has to be, given the number of seniors that go). It is hard to find if you’re not sure exactly where it is. If you drive down the street that goes from Blackburn road at the traffic lights, you’ll find it on the outside corner of the right hand turn. I know this sounds like pretty random directions, but you’ll find it knowing this information.
