Not sure why the other reviews are so lukewarm– this place lives up to its purpose swimmingly. It is a souvenir shop for tourists offering a lot of random stereotypical«Australia» type stuff. This is exactly the type of thing all of my relatives and friends expected me to bring back and they weren’t disappointed. The prices were pretty reasonable too.

I have to agree with the previous reviewer, this place is tacky crap extravaganza. If you are looking for a cliché souvenir I don’t think you can do much better. Postcards, kangaroo, pens, boomerang, towels, opals… you name it, they have it. And then all of that + the variety that has an Australian flag on it(which I’m personally not a fan of, Australian flag deserves respect, and it isn’t respectful to put it on everything). The place has that overstacked feel that screams: «I know naught of interior design, but I do know that renting such premium spot is EXPENSIVE so load all this crap in». I dunno what to tell you. I’m a local, and as a local that clearly touristy stuff doesn’t sit that well for me. But if you absolutely insist on having some cheap plastic thing with an Australian flag on it, you are at the right spot.

Lovers of tacky crap rejoice! Freo Souvenirs is bursting with it. If you’re visiting Fremantle and want a tasteless and predictable memento of your visit to take home with you, Freo Souvenirs is for you. Not that that’s a bad thing. In fact, Freo Souvenirs serves an invaluable purpose. Where else would we get our fluffy koala keyrings if it weren’t there? We’d be lost. In all seriousness though, although it is full of tacky crap as you’d expect from any decent souvenir shop, it is at least reasonably priced tacky crap. If, like me, you’re not from Australia, it’s the perfect place to buy joke presents to send home, like a koala-shaped pencil case or a mini ‘beware of kangaroos’ roadsign. In fact, most stuff in here relates to kangaroos or koalas in some way. The staff are very friendly and eager to encourage you to buy things — when I went in, the girl on duty was quick to hurry up to me and tell me that almost everything was 20% off today! Wow! Cheap kangaroo and koala-shaped stuff! Yaaaaay! What more could you want.
