JAMROC Jamaican Jerk Chicken

As I browsed through scoopon, I came across JAMROC Jamaican Jerk Chicken burgers! I was delighted to be able to try Jamaican food here in Brisbane. Although I usually don’t like Chicken burgers because it’s difficult to cook and usually comes out dry, I decided to gave this place a try.
The place is very close to the «main strip» in the valley and is very easy to get to by bus. I was struggling to decide what to order and the worker gave his recommendations which I really appreciated. I decided to go for the Mandeville burger.

Mandeville burger was absolutely delicious. One of the best burgers I’ve had in Brisbane and the chicken was moist and flavorful. You can also taste all of the delicious additions to the burger like the guacamole, sauce and cheese. I ordered the mild but I wish I got spicy instead because I think the burger would be even better with a little kick.
Overall this place is awesome. The service is great and the burger was delicious. Only thing I would change is that the bread is a little hard. Maybe instead of baking/​grilling the bread, keep it soft because when you bit into it, all of the contents just shoot out the other side. Other than that, this place is amazing and I’ll definitely be back.

A couple of months ago I was walking past this place at 1am on the way home from doing a gig in the Valley. It was being built at the time but the picture of the rasta dude and the red, green and gold colours caught my eye. Anyone that knows me well knows I love reggae music and anything Jamaican including a bit of the herbs, if you know what I mean. Anyway I digress. I thought I must try this place when it opens. Fast forward 2 months and I find my way to another gig and find Jamroc open. It was hard to decide what to order so after seeing what others had, I settled on the half chicken with coleslaw. I went for the Hot sauce. Now I only just handled it and I’m a «curry muncher», so for the average person I would recommend the mild or medium. I was almost in tears! But it was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The background music was irie too.

We have eaten at the JamRoc at the Gold Coast before and enjoyed it so we were happy to learn that they were opening in the valley. Both times I had the chicken meal which was cooked perfectly and very tasty. I wish I would have got it «hot» instead of medium spice but I do love the things spicy so medium may be good for most. The rice and peas are excellent, chips nothing special but still good. My husband enjoyed his goat curry but it did have some bones in it but it did not bother him at all.

Perhaps it was the fact I really wanted sushi and the Sushi Station directly opposite JAMROC was closed that I walked away from this new addition to Brunswick Street so uninspired. In a situation that combined rising hanger with lack of time, I walked through the doors of JAMROC hoping for a fast, tasty and reasonably healthy bite to eat before I had to dash across the road to an event.
While I didn’t have high expectations for my $ 9.95 wrap, I did expect more than chicken, lettuce and tomato. If you’re in a bind, short on time, particularly hankering for some jerk chicken — then this is most likely your place. For my first experience though? The staff on shift were apathetic at best and my wrap equally as lack lustre. Save your pretty pennies and head to other equally quick take-​away options within walking distance.
