Prior to a meeting I had today I wanted a bite to eat and a coffee. I stumbled across this great spot and ordered breakfast. Today I had avocado on Potato Bread with a flat white. Really enjoyed the the coffee and the food. Clever set up as when I paid I was able to email myself from the stores iPad accounting system. Makes sending to my Xero account really easy. Enjoyable food and the staff were friendly, a good mix at Flux.

I’ve tried this place a few times as it between the train station and my work. I really like the set up and atmosphere. Staff are friendly and welcoming. But it pains me to say, but the coffee is weak. That’s a killer for most office workers. I’ll try them again sometime to see if they change, as I know they are relatively new to the game.

Finance, DJ’ing, graphics animation. Different areas of interest that normally wouldn’t have any links in the context of coffee & an espresso bar. But for founders of Flux on Ann(758 Ann St, Fortitude Valley), Mike & Doug, they’d left careers in finance to pursue their dream of an espresso bar. «Flux» was the name of Doug’s music podcast as a DJ. And as for graphics animation? Well, Mike dabbles in a bit of that as well, as one can plainly see on the LCD screen which hang on the wall of the espresso bar. Pursuing your dream and passion is something everyone should do(as Mike puts it) «at least once in your life». Flux on Ann is a funky little pit stop for anyone seeking hot & cold beverages. With coffee by Aromas Coffee, an extensive selection of teas, as well as smoothies & juices on offer. Whilst the«Eats» menu may be quite simple, such as a handful of Toasts & banana breads, where Flux on Ann shines is their selection of sweet treats(many of which are gluten free & organic), cakes, brownies, a variety of different flavour Bagels & their in-house fudges. How good does this sound? Mint chocolate fudge, banana walnut fudge, & peanut butter fudge. Just some of the amazing fudges tempting you to ignore any New Year’s goals, & then the generously sized bagels also beckon; Blueberry, Cinnamon & Raisin, Jalapeño bagels. The peanut butter fudge is absolutely devine & perfect with the coffee. The Jalapeño bagel with cream cheese devoured in seconds. How do they get these bagels to be so perfect? Well, according to Mike, it’s made«the way it should be made», & the supplier is a closely guarded secret with Flux on Ann being their sole customer. Flux on Ann is a great little find in Fortitude Valley & we can’t wait to keep trying all the fudges & bagels. Flux on Ann is open Mon — Sat from 6:30 am to 4:00 pm, & open some Public holidays. Tip: between 2−3pm daily, it’s «happy hour» for chai & teas, & between 3−4pm for espressos, piccolos & macchiatos(only $ 2.50). Great for a quick«pick-me-up»!

Friendly baristas. I got espresso over ice, which is hot-brewed and then chilled here. I always get my coffee without any sweetener, so the normal iced espresso menu item is surely sweeter. Functional free Wi-Fi, but I don’t see any customer-usable outlets.

Recently had a coffee and cake at Flux on Ann. The cake was very nice and came with a cute container of ice cream which made it even better. Gluten free too, while not important for myself it is good to see that considered for others. The coffee was good, nothing spectacular but made well, what more could I ask for. Looking forward to a repeat visit to have more

Flux on Ann is brand spanking new — I think they only officially opened two days ago! They’re still finalising they’re opening hours to see what works best, but after having a chat they definitely seem keen on being open Monday to Friday mornings. I felt at home as soon as I walked into the café, with the two owners introducing themselves and telling me a bit about their business. I ordered their coffee and cake special for $ 5. I was stoked to find out that they would do it take away(some places are really weird about that for some reason?), and I was even able to choose ANY cake — not just a pick of one or two(and they do ice cream or cream in special little containers if you want it!). The selections of cakes/muffins/slices was a bit daunting, there’s just so much to choose from. Most of them are gluten free, which is a nice change to see! I got a chocolate and raspberry cake, and much to my surprise it was filled with REAL raspberries and bits of dark chocolate. absolutely amazing. The coffee doesn’t have that special bite that somewhere like Ltd Espresso does — this is just Aromas coffee, no special beans here. It’s made well though. The atmosphere is super chilled and it looks like a place I’d love to sit down and enjoy my coffee. I will definitely be returning.
