The Medical Centre at UWA was a Haven when I was still at Uni and I visited this place fairly often in my first year of being away from home and not being used to the cold winter, not eating the right kinds of foods and not taking my daily multivitamins like my mother always told me to. Although the wait was long and it was hard to get an appointment for the same day if it wasn’t an emergency, the doctors were all very friendly, kind and professional and at the end of the consult all that left my wallet was $ 5(being an international student the rest was subsidised by my OSHC health insurance cover).

The UWA Medical Centre is located in the student guild area, on the second floor. While the majority of patients are UWA students, a little-advertised fact is that the medical centre will take students from any university, as long as they are students — which can be very handy for those who were UWA students but are changing unis. The doctors at the medical centre are efficient and patient, and since they are highly aware that students have limited finances, bulk-bill and refer students to specialists who bulk-bill. There is also a clinipath that operates within the medical centre, so you can get blood tests down quickly. The UWA Medical Centre has some fantastic doctors who are genuinely concerned for the welfare of their patients.
