Average as all hell. This is like 90s nostalga without the irony. The eggs were undercooked and tasted weird and way too much bread. The coffee wasn’t very good, tasted burnt or the machine hadn’t been cleaned in a while — that dirty acidic twang to it. Also the owner or manager guy was yelling and heckling the staff and being over-the-top which I found rude and hard to converse or enjoy the company I was with. I’m not entirely sure where the monks come into it but this was the furthest from brunch nirvana I’ve been.

Came here for breakfast & found it to be very popular, has a pleasant vibe with old framed photos of the Coburg district on the walls. Service was friendly & prompt. Coffee was very good, chose the eggs Florentine which arrived at our table in no time at all. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, alongside was a generous portion of smoked salmon. It was as delicious breakfast & I can’t believe how quickly I ate it! Would return here for sure.

First time here and left very happy. The service is warm, friendly, helpful and genuine. The coffee was very good and the food was great. I had the smashed avo and it really is up there with one of my favourite versions. If I wasn’t sitting near the front of the store I think I may have licked the plate. There’s plenty of good food up this end of Sydney rd and this place is worth a visit.

I live just around the corner from Two Monks Café, and it’s become one of my second homes. Though not as cool as all the Brunswick cafes further down Sydney Road, Two Monks is the best of Bro-Burg(Coburg). If you go on a weekday, have one of the«Coburg» sandwiches, which you can’t get on weekends. They also have yummy desserts(marsbar cheesecake, mmmm) and fresh squeezed juices. The weekend menu has brunch classics(the french toast served with strawberries and walnuts is delicious) as well as Coburg-esque dishes, such as the toasted falafel sandwich. The staff are always friendly and there’s lots of seating with spacious tables, so you can always settle down for a while and read or just people watch along Sydney Road.
