Kebabs were pretty average, but when I went I had my dog with me and they gave my dog some free meat. That made my day. So in saying that, the staff are great and the kebabs are usual. But still worth it cause you get quite a lot of meat for your dollar.

Iconic! This place has been around since I was a kid and making a pit stop at Kebab Station was a must before the long drive back to Geelong. Even when I grew up and moved to Brunswick, Kebab Station was still there and just as awesome. Go for the shish kebab(diced pieces of lamb) rather than the shawarma(shaved meat off the spit) — it’s cooked fresh so it takes about ten to fifteen minutes to come out and but it’s full of wonderfully juicy and chewy meat cushioned in soft turkish bread and salad. Their pides are great as are their dips(the carrot dip is pretty special I reckon). Though, given the size of the place it’s better to go for take out rather than eating in.

I went to the Melbourne Kebab Station to grab a bite to eat but not for the Turkish-style kebabs. I’ve had their kebabs and they are nothing special to write about, just the standard lamb or chicken kebabs. What I wanted for lunch today is the pide, the Turkish bread stuffed with meat or cheese or cheese and spinach. The Kebab Station is, as usual, packed. It is just that a kebab station with a long bar where the kebabs are prepared running down the middle of the shop on the other side kebabs roasting on spits. Afternoon or evening it is usually busy or rather appears busy because the door acts like a choke point on people entering, exiting or simply waiting to be served. Which one will I have: the meat or the cheese and spinach pide? Fortunately because it is so busy I have time to make up my mind before I am served. In a health conscious move I decide on the cheese and spinach pide. It is cut up and wrapped in foil to keep it warm. I munch on the pide as I walk home with my shopping, all the tables at the Kebab Station and most of the bench was full. The warm bread and partially melted cheese is delicious.
