In Coburg every place is offering something for a $ 5 lunch; here it is a chicken burger with chips. I hadn’t been in here before, although I walk past it plenty of times when shopping on Sydney Road. There is a kebab turning on a spit and roast chickens in the window; I don’t know why Coburg has so many roast chicken places. After placing my order at the long stone counter. I sat down on the large red cushion seats at the row of tables and looked around. I’m not thirsty so I don’t check out their drinks fridge. It isn’t too bad a place but there is no-one else eating here — not a good sign in Coburg at 1pm. I see the woman behind the counter unwrap a pre-made burger and I here the ping of a microwave under the counter. That was another bad sign. However, the chips were freshly made. Fresh salad and mayonnaise was added to the chicken burger. It was a generous serve of chips. The burger wasn’t that bad, the microwave had been used sparingly and the roast chicken was good, although it suffered from the usual hazard of all burgers of bits of the lettuce and tomatoes falling out as I ate it.
