Disappointing. Long standing Italian for Perth but always seems to fall a little short. Maybe it’s the too smiley waiters. Maybe it’s the high prices and under delivery of quality product. Maybe it’s the waitress trying too hard and too obviously to ‘upsell’. I just get the feeling they are taking the p… and have been getting away with it for years. I had goat. I have had goat in lots of Italian restaurants. It’s my go to dish when it’s on the menu. This was their special last night. I think it was just something they wanted to move on. It was tough and stringy. Cooked way too quick I think. There was also some bland arancini, average and a bit chewy squid, but quite good sausage for entrée. Also as a main a beef pasta that was just tasteless. Apparently the crab spaghettini is good though. Desserts were ok. Just all a bit mediocre. By the way if you want really great goat try Caffeitalia in Hay Street, East Perth. About 25% cheaper too.

My friend and I here went on Anzac Monday. The menu is extensive. I ordered an insalata pollo(19 dollars) and my friend ordered the seafood basket(37 dollars). Our orders arrived promptly and the waiter was friendly but on the too friendly side. He kept offering to cut up my chicken for me. The food was OK but we were shocked when the bill arrived. I was aware that a public holiday surcharge would be charged but not a whooping 10 dollars. And then we also got charged 7 dollars additional gst. Not a happy camper.

The food here is mighty expensive, but also mighty fine. Some friends and I decided we’d treat ourselves one night and ended up at Bellissimo. Of course, we’re all a bit thick because none of us brought cards, so we only had limited cash on hand. My friends splurged on some pasta and from the looks on their faces it was worth every cent. I, having less funds, went for the caprese salad(the otherwise very friendly waitress gave me a dirty look because I didn’t pronounce it right). I was staaaarving, so a little bit worried that a salad wasn’t going to be enough. My fears were unfounded though. I was presented with a bowl full of cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and basil leaves and left the restaurant very full. Bellissimo is a great option if you’re willing to let go of a little bit extra money, but believe me it is well worth it

Bellissimo do Italian food incredibly well, the food here is damn tasty! There are a lot of cafes and restaurants along Bay View Terrace, if you want my advice, save your appetite and your money for this one! Is there anything better than an authentic wood fired pizza and a bottle of cool white wine on a summer’s evening, while sitting outside on a busy street watching the world go by? No, there isn’t! And at Bellissimo you’ll find the best of the best — great pizzas, great wine, great location. It’s almost as good as sitting in Rome or Naples… almost! Their pastas are always cooked to perfection too, with their ravioli being probably the best in Perth. And the service is just as good. Highly recommended. And tip into The Claremont next door for a drink afterwards too!

Bellissimo serves very good wood-fired pizzas in a comfortable and stylish setting. There isn’t much that sets this place apart from the rest of the pizza/pasta Italian restaurants in Claremont/Fremantle area but it still holds its own. Its always nice to sit outside and watch people go about their daily lives whilst sipping on a coffee or munching on some ravioli.
