Not bad, quite a nice setting, could do with some music for more atmosphere and service was a bit hit and miss, could have been more attentive. The food tasted lovely but I wouldn’t really call them sharing plates as the sizes are too big and prices too high. Interesting mix of flavours and cuisines on the menu but perhaps trying to hard to be something it isn’t.

We were made ever so welcome from the time we walked in. The best food, service, always with a genuine friendly smile, we’ve had in a lonng time! I’ll be going back for more! Thumbs up! Pamela

Price. $$$ Service **** Food *** Visit: 1 Dishes: 2 Mains You can find the same quality food with equal flavours from neighbouring restaurants at a fairer price. Average food, well presented with great service. Ambiance is lovely for a romantic dinner but not to pretentious for a friends night out. Portion versus Price is poor for a menu designed for sharing. Might want to go back to try the wine and desert.

I recently dined at Mr and Mrs Howell with a large group and the service was outstanding — they really did a great job of looking after us. The ambiance is cosy and homely, not too loud or too dark, a wonderful place to catch up with friends. They specialise in seasonal, Modern Australian cuisine and the menu is quite eclectic; everything from Japanese to Peruvian to French bistro inspired dishes. I think the idea is to draw on all of the many different influences that make up Modern Australian cuisine, but I honestly found it a bit a too confusing for my palate — there wasn’t any continuity or harmony between the dishes. And while everything was pretty good, there were no real stand-outs for me. The Japanese Wagyu beef salad we had was tasty, but the beef was a bit thick and tough, definitely not melt in your mouth. The quinoa salad had good flavours, but way too much mayonnaise which compromised the nice texture of the quinoa and vegetables. The tuna tartare lacked freshness and acidity. The pâté on our charcuterie plate was delicious, but everything else was so-so. That aside, given the truly excellent service — really, they were so amazingly attentive and wonderful! — and the menu’s emphasis on sharing, I would definitely consider giving Mr and Mrs Howell another try the next time I’m dining with a large group in the area.
