Great good and great service. Definitely the best restaurant in Brighton. The warm chicken salad was so good and tasted really fresh

Café Prego’s is such a lovely family café with a beach location for a beautiful walk after your meal. The owner George is such a lovely family man with always a smile on he’s face and keeping customers happy! I’ve been there a few times and never disappointed with still ordering the same tasty meal ‘Pollo Dello Chef’ a gluten free meal of chargrilled chicken breast, topped with avocado, bacon and finished with a creamy sweet chili sauce. This meal is a large and super filling plate licking dish, with also getting my Mother to order is as well. Always visit back with the family for a special occasion, Mother’s Day dinner here we come!

We came down to Jetty Road for dinner on a cold Tuesday night after a long weekend … and found only a couple of places open! So this is how we came upon Café Prego ;) I must say, this place exceeded our expectations from the beginning. We came here expecting a middle-of-the-road pizza and pasta place in the same vein as many other. But when we looked at the menu, we could see that there were some other influences at work here — falafel platters and moussaka on an Italian menu? Interesting! The garlic bread we shared was amazing — not good if you don’t like your garlic bread dripping with butter … but I thought it was delicious! More like a garlic pizza than garlic bread — yum! I ordered the ‘George’s’ pizza — salami, olives, marinated tomatoes, anchovies, bocconcini and fresh basil — it was amazing! Meals came out very quickly(we were still finishing off our garlic bread), the base was cooked perfectly — not too crusty — and the toppings were generous and fresh. My partner had the moussaka, which she was was delicious and very ‘homemade’ tasting(I had a bite, and had a bit of food envy: P). The staff were very efficient and friendly, and we felt very comfortable here. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised with Café Prego, and would definitely come here again ;)

Stopped in at Prego with friends, the good smells brought us in. Menu looked decent but I noticed it was a little different for an Italian place. While ordering I noticed the owner who appeared to be middle eastern and he confirmed he was Lebanese. Well! Dinner just got allot more interesting. He suggested a few Items and what we had for dinner was essentially Mezza, trio of dips consisting of; Labneh(cucumber yogurt dip) Hummus, Hummus with capsicum, and a lovely olive tempanade, and tahini dip. we also had a nice dinner salad(Fattoush) and for the meat, we shared a chopped lamb and hummus dish, it was wonderful and the owner helped with suggestions. I think the place would do well to incorporate more Lebanese dishes into its menu. Our experience was decent there and they were quick to point out that we needed to go to the counter to order. Not full service but workable. We liked it and will check it out again.

For those of you who don’t know, Prego is an Italian word for welcome or you’re welcome. The staff are pretty friendly, but I wouldn’t say they live up to their name too well. I remember when I was here last and I went up to order and the man who took my order seemed very stern and asked for my table number in a rude manner I thought. Apart from that, I’d say the food is good and leaves you feeling full. The menu is full of options and there is also ice-cream/gelato for desert. There is also outside seating for a warm summers day or night.
