It’s a spotlight and we needed some cheap curtains so mission accomplished. They aren’t perfect but they were well priced, so I am happy. They seemed to have a good range of items at reasonable prices.

As an avid-pinner of DIY’s, I’m constantly searching for an abundance of craft items(plastic canvas, cork, twine, burlap, etc.). I’ve been to Spotlights from Bibra Lake on up to Joondalup. And, on numerous occasions I have made the trek to other Spotlights for their stock and customer service. My main beef with Spotlight is their stores are not equal. They do not have the same stock. The stores do not communicate with each other(you will be sussing your own item by calling or more than likely driving to look yourself). Their website lacks functionality and is not comprehensive to the stock they have in the store. It is 2014 and you can’t buy online, why? And, customer service is a hit or miss. The more I try to accomplish, the more frustrated I get with not finding stock and dealing with Perth store hours. How and when do people buy things? I had to leave work early just to get to Spotlight at 5:20 to hear the«We’ll be closing in 10 minutes announcement.» As I’m scrambling to locate cork, staff members were already lining up at the entrance area to leave. I was told to go to the lay-by area which was unmanned so I ring the bell. I ask about the cork and request one birthday balloon. The worker states, «We’re closing.» I state, «Yep in about 5 minutes.» While I do get a balloon, the cork I’m handed from the worker is tattered(like a wild dog mauled it… yet it is still on the shelf for purchase?). I proceed to purchase the cork that I found, it rings up at $ 12.95 a square! Holy mackerel! No, thank you! I can get an 8-pack for $ 11.05 on Amazon. That’s quite a price difference!

If you work with fabric or any kind of craft, you are probably very familiar with the inside of a Spotlight store. This is a good one and it’s a lot better than the Fremantle location it replaced. Now department, from buttons to curtains to dance fabric has room to sprawl a little. At the risk of sounding like I’m writing for That’s Life’s Handy Hints, I would advise you to check out the fabrics in the curtain section; they’re usually heavier than what you might usually think of for clothing but they’ve come in very handy for making unusual clothes. There’s a coffee shop in this complex(though its’ name escapes me entirely), which is very convenient; now you can combine the activities of spending too much money on fabric and having lunch(they do gooooooood slices and quiches). Service here is as you would expect for a Spotlight, which is to say it kinda sucks; though the cashiers are generally cheerful, if you know so much as the basics of how to sew, you’ll probably feel like you’re talking to a complete amateur. There’s not many places around that can match the exhaustive range and prices of Spotlight though, so if you’re into handicrafts and you live in the area, this store should be in the«favourite destinations» list on your car GPS.
