I always have fantastic service at the Melville JB Hi Fi store! I find that they’re very easy to chat with over the phone and often willing to give you a discount where possible whether you ask for it or not. The range of items the stock is vast from css, dvdd, games, electronics, car stereos and speakers, camera, phones, etc. It is your one stop shop and generally very reasonably priced when comparing with the same or similar item from other electronic stores.

Like many people my age, I hardly listen to CD’s anymore. Even when I buy them, I tend to upload them to my computer and then unceremoniously lose the disc. Every so often I get the urge to wander around and pick out a shiny new piece of plastic with the intention of slowly melting it into disrepair via the sunlight that heats up my car dashboard. JB’s is a great place to do this, as you pay a minimum for your useless plastic purchase and they have quite a few deep catalogue options for you to buy. Many older CD’s are discounted to a tenner, which I find a bit odd; if I’m buying a CD, it’s usually to support the artist that’s making the tunes, and ten dollars a unit isn’t enough to make much money for anyone — after the store’s cut and production costs, the band/label would be lucky to see a buck. That being said, I’ve found some great discs here for ten bucks; You Am I’s sadly underrated Dress Me Slowly and most of Nick Cave’s and Lou Reed’s oeuvre. You can also find a range of DVD’s and video games if such is your whim, and while it’s a good enough place to pick up videos, you’re probably better off at EB or buying online when it comes to video games. JB’s is also a great place to pick up headphones — I picked up some very decent headphones for a couple of hundred bucks, which was actually a pretty good price considering. It’s hard to fault their range across multiple types of electronics; TV’s, stereos, laptops and tablets are all rather a lot cheaper here than you’ll find them elsewhere. The customer service staff are surprisingly knowledgeable and friendly here too, particularly by comparison to their counterparts at Dick Smiths and it takes this joint over the edge to being highly recommended.
