There’s a bit of lack of ambience here. There is very soft talk back radio on which the loud fridge is humming over. But the amount of good stuff is evident. Fresh juice is the first. A good size and cheerfully made. Internet terminals. Useful as they are right next to the back packers. Toilets inside! A real plus. No tramping down a rainy back alley among oil cans and wheelie bins. Two big TVs which I guess would be really cool to watch a soccer match with back packers from next door. Big selection of cakes and a decent range on the menu. Flyers and posters for local events. Magazine rack. Large airy space and huge windows on two sides. This would be excellent for travel bloggers and diarists. I had the pancakes with lemon and sugar and they were no nonsense but fluffy and delicious.

28÷1÷2012 Trent D and others nailed this review — so much so that I’m finding it difficult to add anything more that they didn’t already say so accurately. Read them. In the meantime, I’ll have a go… Have you ever eaten at the Café Boulevard Restaurant Internet Café in Adelaide? The outside looks very plain and ordinary, but the food is incredible here. I ordered their steak hamburger for a quick light meal for under $ 10, and it was so worth it! I ended paying only $ 13.50 here! Yes! I took pleasure in observing the mixture of local, and foreign accents, backpackers, and psychotic-looking men sitting outside(one star off for this). There are even young families that come here! I was comfortable and terrified at the same time, but embraced it openly knowing if anything bad happened I was in hopefully, safe, protection by the owners. This is the first, but hey, it’s Hindley Street. A paradox of types of customers. I found the menu substantial enough… Two men were surfing the Internet at the opposite wall of the room, but he wasn’t there for long because the owner told them that nothing could be done about their internet not working on a Saturday afternoon! What I also encountered was the excellent attentive service I’ve read about. In fact, the happy service I received was fantastic — every four of the staff members, including the two chefs, made sure I was looked after, helped me get what I needed, and were all exceptionally friendly, quick, and added things upon my request. Definitely a 4-star service experience. Take note of their somewhat pricey(well over $ 20 for a lunch meal) menu that nonetheless looks really tasty, plus it’s a quiet relaxed atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon.

I’ve never had anything else but coffee at this café, but as one of the only coffee shops on Hindley Street, it has earned a special place in my heart. The coffee is good; not excellent, but good. What I do appreciate, however, is the friendliness of the staff. They are always so chipper and in good spirits that I immediately feel better about being on that scummy street. That is, until some madman approaches my table and starts muttering psychotic things right next to my face. I really do like this coffee shop, and the fact that it’s the only one that bothers to stay open past 5 is a huge helping hand to me when I’m in need of caffeine. Just don’t spend too long out on the street at the outdoor tables — you know how it is.

Looked like just your ordinary coffee place. But I was taken aback by the fantastic range of treats and delicious coffee. The orange cake was fluffy and had that nice touch of tang. I’ve also had the poached eggs for breakfast, beautifully done with creamy hollandaise. Service was very affable and fast. The cups were never empty and they were generous with the refills of coffee. The menus for breakfast and dinner are both excellent, with a great range of wines as well. The restaurant has an excellent menu from breakfast through to dinner in the evening, accompanied by a good range of wines. There is also internet available if you just can’t control that need for Facebook and coffee.

This is such a clever concept. By day it’s the kind of cool internet café that used to exist when they first came into existence, where you can use computers and buy food and drink. By night, it’s a restaurant. There’s seating inside and out, and the staff make quite good coffee. The lattes are particularly enjoyable. BREAKFAST The café also dishes up typical Aussie breakfasts that are good value for money, such as the Boulevard Big Breakfast for 10.90. It consists of bacon, tomato and eggs cooked to order served with a bottle of juice or coffee. There’s also a good selection of omelettes, such as the roasted capsicum, fresh tomato and cheese omelette with Spanish onions and olives. You can buy extras from a limited selection, and it’s a shame spinach isn’t on there yet it’s an ingredient in one of the omelette range offered. If you like a more simple breakfast you can order cereal or toast, with spreads of marmalade, jam, honey and good old Vegemite. ALL-DAYMENU The all-day menu is OK, and again typical of many Aussie cafes, such as steaks, pastas, risottos and salads. I must note the ‘Mediterranean’ risotto includes pumpkin, which is not traditionally found in dishes in that region. The baguettes and focaccias are fine, and the premises-made lasagne with chips and salad is probably the best offering. It does the job if you want a quick bite to eat, or if you’re a bit hungover.
