Löwenbräukeller

Ich war hier am Montagabend. Das Lokal war nicht sonderlich voll, gilt der Löwenbräukeller doch als Traditionsgaststätte und Touristenmagnet. Das Lokal an sich sowie die Erreichbarkeit ist gut.
Wir hatten vor dem Essen eine Stunde Eisstockschießen im Garten vor dem Keller gebucht, das war sehr witzig. Leider war der Kellner an der Aussenbar etwas unhöflich und frech. Er hatte uns relativ barsch die Regeln des Spiels erklärt. Wir hatten dann dort Getränke an dieser Bar gekauft und während des Spiels konsumiert. Auf einmal waren diverse Bierflaschen und Glühweinbecher weg, bzw. abgeräumt obwohl sie nicht leer waren. Auf Nachfrage beim Kellner bekam ich die Antwort, dass alles leer gewesen sei.
So sollte man seinen Umsatz nicht anzukurbeln versuchen. Ich hatte ihm dann erklärt, dass ich nun deshalb kein zweites Getränk bei ihn bestellen werde.
Zum Essen. Bestellt hatte ich ein alkoholfreies Bier sowie den Klassiker, Schweinsbraten. Das Bier schmeckte metallisch, was mich auf eine unsaubere Schankanlage schließen lässt. Das Fleisch und die Soße waren gut, der Semmelknödel sehr matschig. Der Krautsalat wurde vergessen, kam dann auf Nachfrage.
Insgesamt, auch in Anbetracht des hohen Preisniveau, bin ich hier nicht zufrieden gewesen und werde vermutlich auch kein zweites mal kommen. Schade, dass sich hier eine Traditionsgaststätte zu sehr auf Laufkundschaft, Touristen und einmaligen Umsatz fokussiert.

Das es sich um eine Traditionsgaststätte handelt, sieht man schon von außen und man kann es in vielen Informationsquellen nachlesen. Aber er bezeichnet sich auch als Eventlocation. Und was damit gemeint ist, kann man insbesondere auf der eigenen Internetseite des Löwenbräukellers nachlesen.
Wir waren aber in erster Linie eingekehrt um die bayerische Küche und das Bier zu genießen. Und hier liess das rustikale Bräustüberl gutes erwarten.
Ich hatte den Grillteller «Dreimal gut» mit gebratenen Medallions von Ochse, Pute und Schwein mit Grillgemüse, Kräuterbutter und Pommes (18,50 €). Das war ausgezeichnet und wurde gut ergänzt durch das «Löwenbräu Hell Original» (0,5 l zu 4,50 €). Meine Frau hatte den Altmünchner Zwiebelrostbraten aus der Rinderlende mit Schmelzzwiebeln, röschen Bratkartoffeln, Speckbohnen und Kräuterbutter (20,90 €). Das hörte sich nicht nur gut an sondern schmeckte offensichtlich auch ganz hervorragend.
Beim ersten Studium der Karte hatte ich was ganz besonderes entdeckt: «Obstler mit Mini-​Weizen-​Glas» für 6,30 €. Hierfür bekommt man 0,4 cl Obstler, der hervorragend mundet und kann auch das stilvoll gestaltete Glas mitnehmen! Das habe ich mir natürlich nach dem köstlichen Essen servieren lassen und das Glas für zu Hause sehr gerne mitgenommen.
Die Kellnerin war bayerisch, sehr flott, aber auch sehr freundlich.
Also: nicht nur zu Hause Obstler aus dem Mini-​Weizen-​Glas genießen, sondern auch beim nächsten Besuch in München wieder in den Löwenbräukeller einkehren!

It wasn’t the best beer I’ve had, but it was far from the worst. They specialize in darker beers! Although it’s the the best, I enjoyed my liter of beer. This was also a stop for the SIZE MATTERS TOUR.

Great place that is actually owned and operated by Lowenbrau brewers. Wonderful, regional Bavarian dishes, fresh and flavorful ingredients, and a warm atmosphere. Everything was great except for a waitress who wasn’t rude but rather neglectful. Took 5 requests from 2 people to finally cash out and be on our way. Regardless of that, it was worth the visit and conveniently located right across from the Stiglrmaierplatz U bahn station.

Leider war bei meinem neuerlichen Besuch das Essen nur lauwarm, und das Schnitzel nicht ganz durch. Der Kellner wollte meine Reklamation nicht annnehmen. Er meinte, das kann nicht sein! Fazit: Kein Besuch mehr dort.

Mag für Partys eine tolle Locations sein. Zum Essen gehen nicht. Bedienung ist entweder überfordert oder leidet unter Alzheimer. Die Gerichte sind weit über den Münchner Preisen. Kleine Gerichte sucht man auf der Karte vergebens. Essen war so la la, ich war nicht begeistert. Bei diesen Preisen müsste es schon lecker schmecken und die Bedienung auf Zack sein.

If you’re looking for a pretty authentic German experience, skip the Hofbräuhaus and come here. The beer is better, the atmosphere is better, and the tables are crowded.
I went here twice, and both times were great. The prices aren’t too bad, considering what everywhere charges here. The food is pretty good — I got roast chicken once and haxl the other time — and the beer is great, too.
By far, though, the reason to come here is that it isn’t the Hofbräuhaus. It’s less commercial, and you’re going to get more locals and less tourists at this location. You can also sit outside, which is great since its Germany and the weather is awesome, generally.
When you’re planning your Munich vacation, choose lowenbraukeller.

8,20 Euro für eine helle Maß — Ihr seid doch verrückt!!!

Prices are tourist-​high in the restaurant part — haven’t checked out the beer garden part, you know that section where the tables don’t have table clothes. The waitress seemed overworked and unhappy, as she had so many tables to take care of. She forgot about us and the table next to us, as well as brought the wrong kind of beer. But I discovered a new beer, as Löwenbräu is not really available in most restaurants in Munich that I’ve been to. The Löwenbräu Helles was good for me because it was so light and hardly had that bitter hops taste.
Very easy to get to Löwenbräu from the Stiglmaierplatz UBahn, as you can’t miss it from the exit. Not recommended for the food, as you can get better food for better price, but the ambience is nice and would go here again just for beer and a snack.

The service was extremely slow for Thursday afternoon when there was a total of 10 tables with people at them. The server was rude, and as in most non family friendly places in Germany you can’t get a simple glass of water for your kids, you must purchase a .5l bottle of water for $ 5.

Mein Hendl war völlig trocken und offensichtlich stundenlang aufgewärmt. Dafür zahlte ich einen sehr unverschämten hohen Preis.
Meine offizielle Beschwerde an die Geschäftsleitung blieb unbeantwortet.
Solche Lokalitäten kann man nur meiden…

Leider war unser Essen nur lauwarm und im Geschmack eher unterdurchschnittlich. Die Wartezeit war relativ lange. Das Preis-​Leistungsverhältniss ist nicht besonders gut. Alles scheint auf Touristen ausgerichtet, weil die vermutlich nicht so auf den Preis schauen. Die Bedienungen haben sich bemüht.

The interior and the exterior are extremely lovely and worth a visit just for a look. The servers were very friendly if a little overworked. I found it a little more quaint and personal than the Hofbrauhaus but still maintains the grand beerhall feeling. The beer selection seems pretty standard to me. I ordered the kase spaetzle which was salty and otherwise bland, definitely the only misstep at the table. It came with a really lovely side salad though. The three sausage platter was a big hit and came with two fantastic mustards.
Our table also order the meat platter which was a spectacle. I believe five types of meat. The schnitzel was amazing, not the thinnest schnitzel I’ve ever had but definitely the most tender and flavorful, this is the schnitzel by which I will judge all others. There was also a piece of well cooked duck, a pork hock, and some pulled pork. In addition to all this meat there was sauerkraut, potato salad and a delicious cabbage salad.
Everyone seemed to having a great time enjoying huge portions of food!

Nur noch 2 von 5 Sternen (vorher 4 bzw. 3,7) nachdem Test der Grillstation und einem weiteren Besuch.
Ja die Grillstation wollten wir unbedingt testen, aber es hat knapp 9 Montae gedauert. Heute war es soweit Spareribs und Flammkuchen.
Der Flammkuchen mit Lachs ist sehr wenig belegt und qualitativ für 10 Euro nicht ausreichend. Die Spareribs sind ok, aber Beilage gibt es bei der Portion für 12,50 keine.
Auch der letzte Besuch im Restaurant war eher ein Reinfall. Einmal vegetarische Wirsingrollen und Grillteller. Der Grillteller war versalzen und die Wirsingrollen, naja wir mussten diese nachher nicht zahlen — das sagt wohl alles.
Also wir werden wohl warten bis wir mal wieder vorbeikommen…

Das Allerletze! Könnt Ihr Euch vorstellen, von einer Bedienung an einen Tisch geführt worden zu sein, um dann von der Chefin gefragt zu werden «Können Sie sich vorstellen, dass der Tisch doch reserviert ist?»
Rumdrehen und rausgehen. Und das, obwohl meine halbe Firma dort Mittags essen geht…

Der Löwenbräukeller am Stiglmaierplatz stellt nicht nur ein beliebtes Anlaufziel für Touristen dar, ganz im Gegenteil;
auch Einheimische, die sich mit bayerischen Schmankerln auskennen, kommen auf ihre Kosten.
Die Räumlichkeiten des Löwenbräukeller besitzen ein uriges Ambiente und der Außenbereich teilt sich zum einen in einen typischen Biergartenbereich mit Bierbänken und Selbstbedienung, und zum anderen in einen Bereich mit Tischen und Stühlen, in welchem man bedient wird.
Bei schönem Wetter ist es draußen schnell voll. Der Service leidet hierunter aber nicht. Es geht immer flott im Löwenbräukeller und die Bedienungen haben den klassischen bayerischen Charme.
Trotz der fleischlastigen Küche werden auch Vegetarier glücklich.
Mein Lieblingsgericht ist der Fitnesssalat. Zwar bekommt man mittlerweile so gut wie überall den Klassiker: Salat mit gratiniertem Ziegenkäse, allerdings hat er mir noch nirgendwo so gut geschmeckt, wie im Löwenbräukeller.
Auch das Brot, das dazu gereicht wird, ist einfach klasse, es ist frisch und knusprig. Bei mir gibt es immer einen großen Pluspunkt, wenn das Brot positiv in Erscheinung tritt. Ich finde man erkennt ein gutes Restaurant an den Kleinigkeiten.
Auch unwesentliche Dinge verdienen Beachtung.
Was das angeht, macht der Löwenbräukeller alles richtig.

Der Löwenbräukeller ist unser Nachbar und ich gehe immer wieder gerne dort hin, es ist ein typisch bayrisches Lokal, jedes Gericht was ich bis jetzt probiert habe war vorzüglich, Bedienung ist immer sehr nett, man muss nicht lange warten und generell bekommt man hier viel geboten, auch was Events während des Jahres angeht wahrscheinlich führend in München. Im Sommer ist der Biergarten ein zusätzliches Plus. Einziges Manko ist die laute Atmosphäre und die teuren Preise, die allerdings genauso sind wie bei den meisten anderen «Bayern».

Firmenweihnachtsfeier im Löwenbräukeller. Mitten im Herzen von München gelegen und jetzt zur Weihnachtszeit sensationell mit der schönsten Beleuchtung geschmückt. Am besten erreichbar mit der U-​Bahn, da sich die Parkplatzsuche ziemlich nervig und zeitaufwendig gestaltet. Hat man dann endlich einen gefunden, zahlt man ein Vermögen dafür. Nun zur Location. Über eine breite Treppe schreitet man zum Festsaal. Dieser war sehr schön weihnachtlich geschmückt. Die Tische, mit ausreichend Platz zum durchgehen, ausgerichtet und geschmackvoller Deko. Die Stühle könnten etwas bequemer sein oder wenigstens mit Kissen bestückt werden ;) Das Personal ist freundlich, höflich und zuvorkommend. Wir wurden freundlich begrüßt und die Getränkebestellungen sogleich aufgenommen. Nach der üblichen Ansprache wurde das Buffet eröffnet. Wow… vieles was das Herz begehrt und sich an den Hüften festhält :) Die Vorspeisen: Salate, frisches Gemüse, geräucherter Fisch, kalter Braten, frische verschiedene Brotsorten usw. Die Hauptgerichte: verschiedene Fleischangebote wie Spanferkel und Entenkeulen, diverse Beilagen wie Rösti, in Butter geschwenkte Kartöffelchen, Schupfnudeln, Spinat, Rotkohl usw. Die Nachspeisen: Kaiserschmarrn, kleine Gläschen mit Süssspeisen, Bratapfel usw.
Alles sehr gut gewürzt und sehr, sehr schmackhaft.
Fazit: sehr schöné Location mit sehr gutem Essen !

I love Löwenbräu for a casual Bavarian weekend lunch or cozy weeknight date.
The biergarten in the summer has its own mellow charm, but there’s nothing like a leisurely hot meal in a cavernous, ancient building to remind me what I love about Munich.
We stopped in today on the way back from a day trip. We knew we could count on Löwenbräu to be open during the awkward post-​lunch pre-​dinner hours on a Sunday, and it’s large enough that getting a table is almost never an issue.
We were greeted immediately, and although we resisted beer we gave in to some serious comfort-​food cravings; Schweinebraten for my husband and Kaiserschmarrn for me. Both were great, neither were the best we’d ever had, and it’s a little pricey for lunch — our bill (with two glasses of schorle) came to 38 EUR including tip.
It took a few minutes to get our server’s time & attention when we were ready to pay, but I’d chalk that up partly to the fact that we’d seated ourselves behind a massive column.
Overall this visit reflected our typical Löwenbräu experience: tasty, satisfying, and deeply Bavarian. A good place to bring foreign visitors for a casual meal, and a reliable neighborhood alternative to crowded trendier spots.

This was one of our favorite meals toward the end of our vacation. We felt like we had mastered the train and could walk all over a few neighborhoods without getting lost, and had spent the morning at the BMW museum. We wandered into Lowenbraukeller for a late lunch and decided to do the outside table service. Our server was happy to bring us the English menu and right away she said, «Two Oktoberfest, yes??» Of course we nodded emphatically, «YES!»
With a delicious beer firmly in hand, my husband ordered the Wiener Schnitzel and I had the ground meatloaf with eggs and potatoes. I know I’m going to sound like I love everything when I start writing all these reviews, but truly, on this trip, we only had one bad item to eat the whole time, and that was a brat at the Olympic Park. Don’t do it, no matter how good it sounds to sit by the lake and eat a brat watching the world go by. It tasted like a bad American hot dog. No way. Otherwise, everything else on this trip was very good.
The Wiener Schnitzel was lightly breaded, moist, and tender, and the side salad was so fresh and tasty too. We should have eaten more vegs on this trip, but it’s hard to do with all the great meat centric meals and bread/​pretzels on the side.
I believe my meatloaf was made up of ground sausage and it was very nicely seasoned. I couldn’t get over how orange the egg yolks were. How often do you see that? It was perfect.
We wanted to try their wiesnbier, so shared one of those, and then were debating about trying some schnapps. We had heard that we should really try the schnapps, but could make no sense of the menu. Then one of my favorite things about Munich happened.
A retired couple sitting near us heard us muttering over the schnapps and the wife said, «Williamsbirne. Trust me.» Well, that’s all we needed to hear. Hook us up with the Williamsbirne. That was a wonderful way to end the meal and has now piqued my interest in the European-​made schnapps. I want to see if I can find them locally.
We ended up sipping our drinks, enjoying the beautiful weather in the beer garden, and talking to that couple for a few hours. It was lovely. I am totally into the leisurely meals and enjoying the food and conversation. Overall this meal was thoroughly enjoyable. With the food and drink items I mentioned plus 2 bottles of water the total was 57,10 euros. Money well spent.

ich spreche besonders für den Biergarten vom Löwenbräukeller, den ich richtig mag!
Der ist nicht zu gross und Tourilastig, man kriegt immer ein sonniges Plätzchen und die Preise sind ok. Außrdem ist der Löwenbräukeller sehr zentral und mit den Öffentlichen super zu erreichen!

Im SB Bereich im Biergarten gibt es für jeden was und die Preise sind auch okay
Mittags bissl in der Sonne sitzen, né Kleinigkeit essen und ratschen
Klar. Immer wieder
Ob Flammkuchen, Spareribs, Salate, Currywurst, Krustenrollbraten oder Obazda.

Das ist wirklich ein sehr schönes bayerisches Lokal. Dementsprechend zieht es natürlich auch genug Touristen an. Aber das macht nichts. Essen ist reichlich — Auswahl gut. Preise gerade noch im Rahmen.
Wenn man mit Gästen Bayerisch essen gehen will: hier ist man gut aufgehoben! Auch der Service ist bei uns sehr gut gewesen!

Das Ambiente ist typisch bayerisches Wirtshaus, übersichtlich, hell.
Der Service flott und freundlich, die Preise angemessen. Wir hatten Leberknödel– bzw. Pfannkuchensuppe und Kalbsgeschnetzeltes bzw. Hirschkalbsrücken. Alles war sehr gut und schmackhaft. Wir als Einheimische können das Wirtshaus bedenkenlos weiterempfehlen! Und als Weissbierliebhaber bitte das Jahrgangsweissbier probieren!

Über das Löwenbräu Bier kann man sagen was man will — darüber möchte ich hier nicht urteilen. Sehr wohl aber die in meinen Augen total überzogenen Preise.
Die Halbe Bier 4,50 € in einem Brauerei-​Stammhaus der Anheuser-​Busch InBev Bierfabrik zu verlangen finde wirklich eine Frechheit!
Das Wiener Schnitzel (OK, es war Kalb …) für 18,50 € is auch nicht grad wenig und die Portion war dazu auch noch ziemlich übersichtlich, war aber gut …
In München gibts genug vergleichbare Wirtshäuser mit wesentlich besserer Küche und zu angemesseneren Preisen …

Meine Bewertung bezieht sich NICHT auf das Lokal/​Restaurant, sondern auf den Saal für Veranstaltungen im 1. Stock.
Sehr großer Saal für alle möglichen Arten von Veranstaltungen. Platz für bis zu 1.600 Personen, eigene Küchen und Schänken. Große anschließende Terrasse. Eine ca. 50qm Bühne rundet das Ganze dann noch ab. Ich habe dort schon einige Veranstaltungen erlebt und war jedesmal positiv überrascht. Die Technik rund um Licht und Ton scheint recht vielfältige Möglichkeiten zu bieten.

This is a great place to eat. You can sit outside or inside. The service and food is great. They have seasonal Bavarian food, but I recommend the sausage plate with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. Use the spicy mustard and the brown bread is the best. Everyone is dressed in traditional Bavarian clothing.

I came here to take a break from shopping and am happy I did, already having a few beers in my system I ordered the apple strudel which was delicious tangy, and sweet with the added vanilla sauce, and washed it down with the apfelsaft. Staff was friendly. I enjoyed all the cool paintings on the walls. You need to come here if you are in Munich.

At first I was turned off by the prices, but when the food was served I realized that it was worth every penny. We had: Obatzda (soft cheese with brown bread) for 6.90 Euro, Pork on the bone (Schweinshaxe) for 13.90 Euro, and the Sausage sampler for 12.50 Euro. The pork was served with crackling, crispy skin, gravy, and a potato dumpling with a surprise bite of pork and gravy inside. The sausage platter had both mashed potatoes and cabbage, as well as a tasty gravy. Both were absolutely delicious. The prices compare to other large touristy beer houses, but the food is so much better. They also have burgers on the German menu.

Löwenbräukeller is conveniently located by the U-​bahn station (Stiglmaierplatz), so we conveniently went there on a Saturday night for dinner. To me, it was the least rowdy of the beer halls, and I enjoyed the ambience there more than the other places.
Their menu is creative, printed in a newsletter format. A fair amount of selection for food. I got the «Semmelknödel mit Rahm-​Pilze» (bread dumplings with creamy mushrooms), and that was satisfying and satiating.
Unfortunately, the crucial thing that I do not like is the beer. The Dunkel was simply too sweet for my palate that I actually prefer the Helles, which was also too sweet for me. I like beers with a slightly bitter aftertaste, so my dis-​preference could be somebody else’s preference.

Ich mag den Löwenbräu-​Keller, weil ich das Löwenbräu-​Bier mag und das hier garkein wirklicher bzw. reiner «Keller» ist.
Ich mag das tolle Gebäude mit dem Türmchen, das vor Tradition und Geschichte nur so zu strotzen scheint.
Ich mochte die Kellnerin und das freundliche, ja fast schon familiäre Ambiente, welches mir zuteil wurde, obwohl ich — glaube ich — bisher erst das zweite oder dritte Mal hier zu Gast war.
Das Essen ist gut gewesen, der Lautstärkepegel allerdings nicht wirklich ideal, um gute, ungestörte Gespräche zu führen. ;-)
Aber ein solides Gasthaus mit ordentlichen Touri-​Preisen, ich glaub kaum, daß es im Hofbräuhaus viel teurer ist — wenn überhaupt. Schweinsbraten mit Knödel (meine Gasthaus-​Währung) gibt’s hier für stolze € 12,90! Das krieg ich bei mir im Truderinger Wirtshaus für gute € 8,90! ;-)

Es lohnt sich, regelmäßig die Events im Löwenbräukeller zu checken. Ob Starkbierfest im Februar bis März, diverse Fachingsbälle, Ü30 Parties, Afterwork im Sommer, der Löwenbräukeller ist eine großartige Location. Es ist ziemlich weitläufig, im Sommer sind die Dachterrassen zur Afterwork offen, ein Highlight in einer lauen Sommernacht. Im Großen Festsaal und auch im Biergarten gibt es zur WM oder EM Public Viewing. Der Biergarten ist überschaubar und gemütlich. Die Lage direkt am Stiglmeierplatz ist genial und gut zu erreichen.
Das Essen ist gut bürgerlich und schmeckt hervorragend.

This is an awesome place! We got off the train, put our bags in a locker, and headed straight to this Biergarten. You cannot miss it. Its a large building with an open covered terrace for sitting outdoors. The inside is immaculate. There were these huge casks of different beers. The various halls and eating places were divided by archways. The food smelled so good. The atmosphere was great.
My cousin advised us to get the «Weißbeir mit Weißwürste». This was very scrumptious. The beer comes in a huge mug (German style). This size serving used to be half a pfenning (1900’s). When the government tried to raise the price to one whole pfenning the Barvarians almost rioted. (Some history just so that you know… Germans take their beer seriously.)
The Weißwürste was very good. I had some German mustard on the side to try with it. We also had the local cheese (obazdn) with pretzels.
We strolled around Munich for a few hours and then went back for more.

We came here on our first night in Munich. We had a group of about 11 and they had no problem seating us right away. It took a while to decide, but we all ordered something to quench our thirst after traveling to Munich from all over the world. For those of us who remember the Lowenbrau beer we used to get in the states, this is not the same. The beer you get in Munich is much better.
Our drinks were brought out quickly and then our food followed shortly. We had a selection of soups, sausages, veal and pig’s knuckle. Everyone was satisfied with their food. It was a little on the pricey side, but it was perfect for the evening. The service was very good and once the server realized we spoke English as our primary language, she enlisted the help of another server who was fluent in English which made the evening very pleasant and easy.
Overall it was a good enough experience to stop by again later in the week for a couple more liters of beer. Each time we stopped by, the service was good and the beer was tasty.
If you find yourself in Munich, I would suggest stopping by some time. This is right across the street from the U1 Stieglmaierplatz station.
Will I be back? Sure I will, the next time I am in Munich. Good show.

I really thought this place was cool. It was where I went for dinner my first night in Munich and I think it set a good tone. It resembles a typical German beer hall, which you probably enjoy as a visitor. The service was awesome. Our orders were taken promptly and food was brought right away. The server also saw us take our phones out and came over and gave us a password for the wifi without us having to even ask. We got the sampler type for two, although he brought it for three and didn’t charge us. Everything on the plate was awesome and I highly recommend. The highlight was the chicken. Holy chicken skin Batman! It was crispy and rendered fatty goodness. I would definitely recommend and will return.

The staff is a little stressed out, but after a little while we always get what we ordered. Unfortunately the Biergarten is located directly at the Nymphenburger Str. so it’s a bit noisy.
The menu has all of the usual (bavarian) items on it. We had Schnitzel and Bratkartoffeln, Salad with strips of Steak, Semmelknödel with mushroom sauce, a Brotzeit platter, Weißwürste, and so on. Everything tasted good.
The prices are a little higher then in the other Biergärten (p.e. Augustiner Keller) but they are still ok.
We are coming back (since it’s the closest Biergarten to where we live)…

The Bavarian style dishes are awesome. The flavors and accompanying beer is among the best. Vellendanke! A wonderful experience all the way around.

This beer hall has all the traditional Bavarian dishes and obviously Löwenbräu and Franziskaner beers to wash them down. There’s nothing to complain about and indeed we have several times brought visitors here, but there’s nothing truly outstanding either. There are not so many dishes directly appealing to foreign kids but the pancake soup always works if nothing else does.
There is a small beer garden outside and it’s actually rather nice; at least when the real season starts there are some nice food options, and if like many you enjoy Löwenbräu beer (I usually go for the Urtyp) of course the refreshments are great too. (If you’re not used to beer gardens, be aware that the front part — with table cloths — has waiter service, while if you go beyond that to the simpler tables, you get your own food and drinks from the «ausschank». As always, in that section you can bring your own food.)
This is a pretty high three stars; it’s worth a visit at least some time.

Lowenbraukeller was introduced to me as an authentic Bavarian style restaurant, and not being a local, I can’t vouch for it’s authenticity… only that it’s delicious. They have a fairly large dining hall, and a few more intimate rooms that seat around a private party of 20 or so.
Service was very good and they kept the beer flowing and selection of food was quite good with traditional desserts and apertifs.

This is a cool Beer Hall accross the street from the Löwenbräu Brewery with some pretty good german eats. They’ve got a fairly large patio for drinking on a nice day.
Located at the Stiglmaier Platz, this place has been open since 1883, although it was mostly destroyed in a bombing raid in 1944 (and recently renovated) it still maintains and old school feel.
Great Beer, Good Food and on the right day great company.
I reccomend the Keller for some pork or sausages or just beer. If you don’t speak German just ask for the English Menu…
