LOOOOOVE this place.
In a sea of delicious, fatty foods and outstanding beer — sometimes a girl needs to take her wobbly bits with a water and a salad! And holy cow this is the place to do it.
The salads are large (even the small) and come with some great, fresh ingredients. I opted for the Oriental chicken salad the last few times (I’m a creature of habit) and while it was outstanding — it wasn’t what the U.S. claims as an ‘oriental’ salad. It had almonds, sautéed chicken, parmesan cheese, a herb vinaigrette dressing, mangos, and grapes. And the salad comes with 2 small and delicious slices of bread.
It is very busy during the lunch hours and the place can get super busy.
If you are a tourist and you don’t have a German bank credit /​debit card — they won’t take it. I have a USAA Visa card (with the smart chip) and a Chase MasterCard world elite (with the chip) and neither was accepted. Guy at counter kept saying it HAD to be a German bank. *thank God I brought cash… I was hangry and about to lop off someone’s arm to eat it.
Aside from that lil snafu — this place is awesome. Love it and will keep going back so I can over indulge on beer. :)

Dean & David is really just fine, in my book; from their Engl-​ish slogan («Fresh to Eat») to their expensive, leafy salads.
Sometimes it’s just the best choice with a group of colleagues for lunch, but I find their food to be very hit-​or-​miss. Their salads are so pricey for being mostly lettuce-​based, and their cold wraps and basic curries just haven’t impressed me at all.
Still, it’s a trendy, healthy lunch option, the service at this location is friendly and fast, and their outdoor seating is lovely when the weather cooperates.

Um die Mittagszeit fast immer sehr voll. Dazu kommt noch, dass man im Grunde genommen zweimal anstehen muss, einmal zum Zahlen und dann nochmal um den Salat bzw. das Curry abzuholen. Das führt dazu, dass vor der Salatbar immer eine Menschentraube steht, die drauf lauert dass endlich die richtige Abholnummer ausgerufen wird. Also leider keine Erholung in der Mittagspause.
Geschmacklich sind die Salate sehr gut, auch vom Preis her ganz ok, aus oben genannten Gründen gehe ich aber inzwischen lieber zur Konkurrenz. Die Curries find ich überteuert, schon weil sie nicht frisch zubereitet sind. Die Portion besteht aus einer Halbkugel Reis, dazu ein Schöpflöffel Currysoße mit bisschen Gemüse, drüber werden noch ein, zwei Zuckerschoten und ein paar gehobelte Karotten gestreut — macht in der vegetarischen Variante 6,25 €. In der Innenstadt würd ich nie bei Dean & David Curry essen, nur hier gibts leider nicht viele Alternativen.
Ein großer Pluspunkt sind die schönen Sitzmöglichkeiten draußen, auch bei nicht so schönen Wetter gibts die Möglichkeit sich unters Vordach zu setzen, drin ist es leider oft recht laut.
Für gelegentliche Currygelüste in der Mittagspause ok, aber ich hoffe auf weitere neue Läden mit günstigen Mittagsangeboten.
