Brenner

Nie eine schlechte Wahl unabhängig vom Anlass. Kochen vor dem Gast, schöné große Fenster, Kaminholzstapel… In einem modernen Kontext. Internationales Essen mit Mediterranen Einschlag. Die Dessertkarte eine Wucht. Nur wenn man mal 5min nach der Reservierungszeit da ist, kann es sein, dass der Tisch weg ist. Vielleicht war ich zu oft dort, vielleicht fehlt dem Restaurant etwas, in jedem Fall zieht es mich dort nicht mehr hin.

Mmmhhhh. Alles irgendwie zu viel. Zu viel Lärm, zu viel Schickeria, zu teuer. Die Qualität des Essens schwankt gewaltig. Es gibt gute Gerichte wie den Super Food Salat und häufig auch enttäuschende Gerichte. An der Bar ist der Service manchmal wahnsinnig langsam.

Sehr zentral auf der Maximilianstrasse in München gelegen. Im Sommer bietet es sich an auf der Terrasse einen Drink zu genießen. Der Service ist etwas wechselhaft. Die Speisen waren schon einmal besser. Wer auf Fleisch steht vom Grill ist dort genau richtig. Ich finde die Glanzzeiten sind vorbei. Es ist aber und bleibt ein Szenetreff.

Nachdem ich mit meinem Birchler Müsli sehr unzufrieden war da es eher Jogurt als alles andere war, habe ich es reklamiert. Der Kellner hat sehr freundlich reagiert in der Küche nachgefragt und den Fehler zugegeben und eine Alternative angeboten. Ich wollte aber aus zeitlichen Gründen nix mehr.
Am Ende wurde auch meiner Begleitung das Essen nicht berechnet — aus Kulanz!
Sehr in Ordnung! Ich komme also wieder da ich mich als Kunde geschätzt fühle!

Im Rahmen einer Familienfeier waren wir am Samstag im Restaurant.
Reservierung, Begrüßung und unser Tisch verdienen schön mal 5 Sterne.
Man kann hier (und das freut die Österreicher besonders) alle Biere in den Größen 0,2; 0,3 und 0,5 bestellen.
Das heißt im Klartext, dass auch der nicht so gewöhnte Bier Freak ein gepflegtes Glaserl Bier bestellen kann, dass auch bei langsamer Trinkzeit nicht zu warm wird.
Die Vorspeisenteller (Antipasti und Vitello Tonate) waren hervorragend, genau so wie die gegrillten Saiblinge und das Rinderfilet.
Vegetarier freuen sich über die überaus große Anzahl an Gerichten.
Der Brenner Salat verdient ein Prädikat!
Auch in klein oder groß zu haben…, sehr gut.
Auch gibt es jedes Gericht in der gewünschten Schärfe– oder eben auch gar nicht scharf.
Die Preise sind durchaus angemessen und nicht zu hoch.

Als Gast hat man hier wirklich das (in München seltene) Gefühl, in einer europäischen Großstadt zu sein, und nicht nur im größten Dorf der Welt. :)

Brenners ist ideal sowohl für Touristen als auch Hiesige. Sehr guter Brunch und Tages /​Abendkarte.

Herrvoragender Service und für den Preis ein sehr gutes Fleisch. Das schöné ist, dass man hier in gehobenem und sehr schön rustikalen Ambiente auch als Normalverdiener etwas findet und einen schönen Abend verbringt. Gewarnt seien nur die Leute, die mit Lärm nicht können. Das Brenner ist ein sehr großer Raum in dem der Geräuschpegel sehr stark ansteigt.

Disappointed by the expensive New Years dinner. Out of the 6 course menu maybe 2 courses were good, the rest was not 150 € food. Unfortunate.

Trotz Reservierung und eines Anrufs, dass wir es nicht pünktlich schaffen würden (30 Minuten Verspätung), wurde uns ziemlich unfreundlich mitgeteilt, dass man unmöglich einen Tisch freihalten könne. Das Restaurant scheint nur an einer möglichst schnellen «Durchschleusung» der Gäste interessiert zu sein. Wahrscheinlich gibts auch noch eine Zeitvorgabe fürs Essen… Das Lokal ist extrem laut und zumindest gegen 20 Uhr scheinen die Gäste mit Bussen herangefahren zu werden.
Über die Qualität des Essens kann ich leider nichts sagen, da wir kein bekommen konnten.

Waren zum brunchen an einem Sonntagvormittag inkl. Kinderbetreuung da.
Die Begrüßung war ein wenig ruppig, da wir eine Tischreservierung hatten, aber 15min zu spät gekommen waren. Grund für das zu spät kommen war, dass wir keinen Parkplatz in der Nähe gefunden haben. Ein Parkhaus war zwar in unmittelbaren Nähe aber, 7 € die Stunde, also nichts für uns. Naja was kennt man ja, also Schwamm drüber.
Das brunchen ist al carte und es gibt kein Buffet. Von den Kosten her, war es gerade noch so okay. Die Portionen fallen ein wenig kleiner aus und die Wartezeiten sind grenzwertig, aber die Lage ist der Hammer.
Die Kundenbetreuung rettet vor noch einem Punkt Abzug, welche es immer sonntags zum Frühstück/​Mittag gibt.

After we finished our business in Germany, my boss and I thought we deserve a nice dinner in the city after a couple days of hard work. We asked the hotel front desk for suggestions on a good place for a nice meal, and she recommended this place.
The restaurant is located in Munich, which is about 30 min drive where we were staying. With the help from our taxi driver, we were able to find this nice restaurant located in what seems like a business district.
We walked in around 10pm and the place was still pretty busy. Luckily there was no wait, and we managed to find a table in the back room. Thanks to our waitress for the evening, not only she took really good care of us, she also made a couple guys from out of town felt right at home.
To start off, I had the Beef carpacio appetizer. The beef tasted so delicious, and was cut so thin, it melted right in my mouth. For my entrée, when I saw that huge big open oven in the middle of the dinning room, I immediately wanted to try their steaks. The Angus Steak I choose was great! it was tender, juicy and yummy. And we can’t call it a complete dinner without a bottle of wine. We went with our watiress’s recommendation on an Italian Rosso and it was worth $ 30 EUROs. And to top off with the meal with a desert ice cream, which was creamy but not too sweet, just the way I like my desert.
Both my boss and I enjoyed our dinner. Each dish we ordered was prepared almost to perfection. The dishes tasted fresh, and they came out the kitchen with precise timings. The service was excellent. The whole dinning experience made or second to last night in Germany a memorable one.

Brenners geht immer, Lunch, Dinner oder Drink.
Das Essen hier liebe ich heiß und innig. Sehr gutes Fleisch, der Superfoodsalat und warmer Gemüsesalat sind der Wahnsinn und das beste Pannacotta habe ich hier gefunden.
Auch für größer Gruppen und Businessdinner zu empfehlen. Aufgrund des Lärmpegels nicht für ruhige Geschichten geeignet, allerdings immer höchst professioneller Service. Kinder sind auch erwünscht und können mit Pasta gut versorgt werden. Die Portionen sind angemessen und Qualität der Speisen ist einfach konstant gut.
Im Sommer laden Plätze vor und hinter dem Restaurant ein, auch hier sind Decken vorhanden.
Besonderes Highlight neben den exzellenten Rosmarinkartoffeln: die Süßspeisentheke! Alle Gerichte kann man auch mitnehmen. Und auch die Reste werden, falls mal was übrig bleibt, liebevoll eingepackt. Nur die Finger vom Brot vorab sollte man lassen (kann ich mir, da so gut!), sonst ist man so schnell satt bis die Gänge kommen…

Great location with outside seating– the menu offering is very decent– service was excellent, Diana did an excellent job, she had very good recommendations, was attentive to details but most importantly had such a cheerful personality. If you are in Munich and go to Brennen ask to be seated in her section. There was a party for Pool, the clothing company next door with a lot of celebrity overflow to the restaurant. The highlight was running into Pep the Bayern Munich coach, we learned this is one of his favorite restaurants.
Only drawback is that the restrooms had a very long line.

Wir waren zum Mittagessen zu 4. es war unter der Woche und nichts los.
Wir hatten einen sehr unaufmerksamen Kellner, der die Apéritif Gläser bis zum Schluss stehen ließ.
Als wir in die Karte schauten, hat er nach Ca 1 Minute gefragt ob wir schon was gefunden hätten… Äääh nein?! Nach weiteren 2 – 3 Minuten die selbe Frage und danach mussten wir geschlagene 20 Minuten warten bis er das nächste Mal kam, obwohl wir die Karte geschlossen hatten. Er hielt es anscheinend für nötiger, mit dem Handy mitten im Restaurant zu stehen. Zu allem Übel hing auch noch das Hemd aus der Hose und zum eindecken hat er die Gläser gestapelt wie im Club.
Da der junge Herr anscheinend an einer Gesichtsstarre litt, sehe ich mal drüber hin weg, dass er es nicht hinbekam die Mundwinkel etwas Richtung Ohren zu ziehen.
So… Kommen wir zum monotonen Essen. Ich hatte ein Rindertatar und Lamm. Wenn das Lamm nicht etwas «strenger» schmecken würde, hätte ich geschmacklich kein Unterschied erkannt. Anscheinend gibt’s né neue Gewürzmischung von der der Koch sehr begeistert war. Kommen wir zu etwas Lob. Der Kellner hat alles richtig notiert, das Fleisch war auf den Punkt gebraten und die Toiletten waren sehr sauber.
Da ich selber aus der Gastronomie komme und daher etwas anspruchsvoller bin als «normale» Gäste, werde ich das Brenner in Zukunft meiden.

Frühstück ist sehr lecker und die Auswahl ist groß. Waren am Sonntag dort. Es war sehr voll, viele Familien mit Kindern.
Mittags ist es super. Der Grünkohlsalat ist der Hammer!!! Auf jeden Fall für Mittags reservieren, da viel los ist.

Liebe Gourmet Freunde, das Brenner in München ist wirklich klasse. Die offene Küche mitten im Lokal ist ein Highlight. Klar ist es etwas hochpreisiger, aber die Lage und das Ambiente sind einzigartig. Ich würde sagen die Küche ist schwerpunktartig italienisch.

One of the best all round restaurants in Munich. Great bar scene, sunny terrace. Splendid wood-​fired grill and interesting menu. Have been coming here for almost a decade and standards remain high. Despite being very busy, the staff remain charming and helpful. Also worth noting for school-​level German speakers, is that all staff speak English and menus are available in English too.

Tolle Überraschung! Spontanes Besuch an einen Dienstagabend. Der Laden war voll!
Wir haben uns in der Bar gesetzt. Modernes Ambiente und sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Der Wein und Hendricks und Tonic kamen schnell.
Meine Frau hat sich das Kalbfleisch mit Zitrone ausgewählt und ich hätte Lust auf ein saftiges Entrecôte.
Obwohl sowohl an die Getränke als das Essen ein bisschen zu wenig an die optische Schönheit Aufmerksamkeit gegeben wurde habe ich nur ein Wort für diese einfache, aber einfach zu versauen Gerichte: FANTASTISCH.
Italienisches Flair beim Kalbfleisch und eine leckeren rauchgeschmack beim zarten Entrecôte. Yummie
Das Brenner’s ist für mich eine Empfehlung wert und ich werde sicherlich mal wieder zurück kommen. Kleine Notiz: die Getränke sind etwas überteuert im Vergleich zum Essen.

I must confess I am a bit torn over Brenner. I have been here a couple of times, and the most recent was the best. The food is sometimes inspired, like my warm salad this time, which was really good, but I cannot even remember what I ate last time, not a great sign. The wine list is nice, with options ranging across the price range. Today we had a bottle of Arneis from Piemonte, which turned out very nicely, I thought. The desserts were also nice; I really liked my semifreddo. I’m sure we’ll be back, and maybe some day I’ll be a true fan!

Wir waren nun wieder mal im Brenner und müssen sagen, es hat sich verbessert. Das Essen war ja nie schlecht und gut ist auch die saisonalen Anpassungen der Speisen an die Jahreszeiten. Wir hatten aber bisher immer nur durchschnittliches Service. Aber in letzter Zeit waren sie ausgesprochen freundlich! Vor allem die Dame beim vorletzten Mal. Hat sich alles sehr gut gemerkt, nachgeschenkt, nachgefragt. Versucht unser medium rare bestelltes Steak, welches eher medium war, auszutauschen, nachdem sie von sich aus bemerkt hat das es nicht optimal war. Es lag nicht daran dass uns das Lokal das Essen nicht nach gebessert hätte, aber das Steak war dennoch sehr gut. Restaurantleitung ist sowieso sehr zuvorkommend. Wenn jetzt noch die modelmäßigen Empfangsdamen nicht mehr herablassend wirken würden, würde das Personal 5 Sterne bekommen.

For dinner I had the Brenner steal salad which was ok. However, the meat was not such good quality.
For Brunch I had the Egg Florentine which tasted good.
All in all 4 stars, because the ambiance is quite nice. But it’s definitely pretty expensive.

Der Brenner Grill war lange Zeit ein Restaurant, das zwar durch seine Lage und die ansprechenden Räumlichkeiten einen Besuch wert war, allerdings für Vegetarier und Veganer nicht viel zu bieten hatte. Neuerdings nimmt man auf der Speisekarte allerdings einen Wandel wahr, da sich dort nun mehrere Gerichte finden lassen, die nicht nur Vegetarier und Veganer fündig werden lassen, sondern darüber hinaus auch dadurch ins Auge stechen, dass die Auswahl der Produkte und ihre Komposition beweisen, dass sich jemand wirklich Gedanken gemacht hat, was eine gesunde und vitale Küche angeht.
Zudem ist der Service hervorragend. Die Bedienungen sind freundlich, aufmerksam und lebendig.
Wir sind nun regelmäßig im Brenner und jedes Mal begeistert.

Ins Brenner kann man wunderbar gehen, wenn man später z.B. in die Oper oder in das Residenz Theater möchte. Reservieren ist in jedem Fall zu empfehlen, denn das Brenner ist sehr gut besucht.
Die Atmosphäre gleicht ein wenig einer Bahnhofshalle. Der sehr große Raum fordert diesen Tribut. Im hinteren Bereich erwarten den Gast hilfreiche Geister, die zum Tisch führen. Der Service kommt schnell und ist gut informiert. Die Speisekarte kommt. Jeder findet etwas für seinen Gaumen. Ob Paleofan, Vegetarier, Mediterraner oder Veganer.
Die Karte bietet eine Auswahl, die nicht zu groß, auch nicht zu klein ist. Zudem empfiehlt der Service Extras, die man nicht auf der Karte findet. (In meinem Fall wurde mir ein Update von Lamm auf Lamm dry aged empfohlen. Gesagt, getan, nicht bereut! Der Aufpreis von 5 € war es mir wert.) Im Haus gibt es einen eigenen Reifeschrank. Fans werden das zu schätzen wissen.
Auch Variationen innerhalb der Gerichte waren problemlos möglich.
Da man mit dem Kulturbesuch im Anschluß nicht ewig Zeit hat, werden die Gänge im Zeitrahmen geliefert. Das ist top, grade oder weil es doch sehr viele Gäste zu versorgen gibt im Brenner.
Das Bier kommt vom Fass und kühl und schnell. Durst gelöscht.
Das Essen kommt nach ca. 30 Minuten. Das passt auch.
So blieb Zeit für Dessert und Kaffee. Auch hier ging alles schnell.
Insgesamt bitte keine kulinarischen Highlights erwarten. Man bekommt handwerklich und qualitativ einwandfreie Speisen und Getränke auf hohem Niveau. Allerdings ist das Preisniveau noch höher. Aber man «kauft» sich ja auch die exklusive Location an der Maximilianstraße mit dazu.
Wir kommen wieder. Spätestens im Frühling, wenn die Terrassen eingedeckt sind. Dann wieder draussen auf einen Cocktail und München City geniessen.

Ich bin jetzt nicht der Fan von Lokalen in Maximilianstraßen-​Nähe aufgrund der hohen Dichte von Touristen und wichtigen Menschen. Dazu gehören allerdings nicht das Toshi (wer meine Beiträge kennt weiss das) und seit neuestem auch nicht das Brenner.
Mein Chef aus Paris samt Kollegin meldete sein Kommen an und wollte «chic» und «zentral gelegen» essen gehen, und bitte davor noch shoppen — möglichst «nahe an Gucci» etc. Tja, da ist dann klar wohin die Reise geht.
Nachdem das Kulls für mich leider nicht mehr in Frage kommt bin ich dann aufs Brenner gestossen, wo ich das letzte Mal vor Jahren beim Frühstücken war.
Wir hatten für drei Personen reserviert und wollten davor noch kurz in der Bar etwas trinken. Am Empfang meldete ich also unseren Tisch an und fragte, ob wir noch kurz in der Bar bleiben dürften. Klar ginge das, die Dame war nett und entgegen meiner (ich gebe zu, manchmal bin ich zu voreilig) Erwartung gar nicht affektiert.
In der Bar war noch jede Menge Platz an den gemütlichen Lounge Ecken, wir liessen uns also nieder und warteten. Getränkekarten wurden uns schnell gebracht. Wir warteten dass jemand die Bestellung aufnimmt, was leider so gar nicht schnell geschah. Nach gefühlt 10 Minuten kam eine Bedienung der ich dann mitteilte, dass wir jetzt doch zu unserem Tisch gehen würden.
Der war dann auch gleich für uns ready und wir wurden hingeführt. Eine sehr nette weibliche Bedienung stellte sich dann kurz danach als unsere Servicebegleitung durch den Abend vor und fragte nach Getränken. Wir bestellten eine Flasche Rotwein und mussten danach unsere Bedienung zwei Mal weg schicken da wir vor lauter Reden nicht in die Speisekarte schauen konnten.
Wir bestellten dann zwei Mal Steak, ein Mal Pasta. Mein Chef liebt sein Steak blutig und ich war sehr gespannt, wie das Brenner das umsetzen würde. Ich habe schon viel erlebt, aber richtig blutig — in Deutschland — noch nie.
Unser Essen kam recht fix und ich — und mein Chef — waren begeistert von dem Fleisch. Seins wirklich blutig, meines perfekt medium rare, und einfach zart und hervorragend im Geschmack. Die rote Salsa-​Sauce dazu war jetzt so nicht meins, aber der Salat dafür sehr knackig/​frisch und gut mariniert. Der Spinat meines Chefs war sehr gut. Meine Kollegin hatte Pasta mit Shrimps die wohl auch sehr gut schmeckte. Unser Rotwein (Primitivo) war ein Traum.
Je länger der Abend, je anstrengender die Gespräche und je transparenter die Tatsache wurde, dass der morgige Tag sehr hart würde, desto klarer war, dass wir noch Dessert brauchten. Wir bestellten also Tiramisu und zwei Mal Semifreddo sowie Kaffee. Beides ein Gedicht. kann man nur empfehlen.
Unsere Bedienung war durchweg sehr freundlich und super professionell. Die Atmosphäre in dem sehr vollen Lokal mit den hohen Decken ist sehr einnehmend — es ist zwar laut, aber irgendwie fühlt man sich als «Teil des Ganzen», jeder scheint in gute Gespräche vertieft, man isst und trinkt weil man Freude daran hat. Es war ein sehr angenehmer Abend, und trotz der Wartezeit in der Bar bleibt es bei einem guten Gesamteindruck. Ich komme sicher wieder.

Brenners, Maximilianstrasse, München. Da habe ich eine ziemlich genaue Vorstellung, was mich erwartet — auch wenn ich seit der Eröffnung noch nie dort war. Vorurteil nennt sich das wohl. Und jetzt innnerhalb von wenigen Tagen gleich 2x dort gewesen. Einmal unter der Woche zum Frühstücken: sehr leer. Sehr entspannt. Freundlich, lecker, schnell und Achtung (!) fast schon günstig.
Dann ein paar Tage später an einem Sonntag Nachmittag im Advent. Gut gefüllt, Gästemischung aus den Menschen, die ich erwartet habe, aber auch viele andere, angenehm international. Und auch diesmal: sehr freundlich. Einzig die Kuchenpreise (4,9) stehen diesmal in keinem Verhältniss. Der Rest passt weiterhin. Einschränkend muss ich aber sagen, dass ich noch nicht zum Lunch oder Dinner dort war.

You get what you pay for, great service, exceptional food, and a diverse drink selection. Indoor/​Outdoor seating in a picture perfect location. Huge outdoor seating area in the square which makes you feel like you are in your own secluded fortress.
I highly recommend their Carpaccio, but anything I had on their menu have hit the spot perfectly.
Choose anything from the grill from fish to any kind of meat and you will not be disappointed.

First of all, if you’re looking for dinner in this area of town, you’ve got a small fortune to get rid of, are taking clients out for a night or put the schicki in the proverbial micki.
I was in the second class.
That said, for the Altstadt/​Lehel area, Brenner is a relatively smart deal (and if you consider the possibility of meeting up with the FC Bayern regulars, not a bad price of admission).
We sat in the picturesque back room behind the grill (all warm entrees are cooked, sizzling, on a great center open fire grill) next to the wall of fire wood (arachnophobes should ask to be reseated).
For dinner everyone selected from the prime beef cuts (on the menu under Erde) and fish (Wasser). Each main was done superbly, especially the steak. I went with the Entrecôte, which was especially tender and a nice portion. In typical steakhouse style, we got a spread of shared sides. Tasty, fresh and a light accompaniment of veggies and potatoes for the heavier mains.
The wine list is short but tasty, making it perfect for ordering for a group when you don’t want to make your way through a bible of vino.
In all, nice, romantic locale for special events. The front bar looked especially atmospheric, wouldn’t mind coming back with friends some evening to see if I can double up my own Schicki. ;).

I visited Brenner with a friend for dinner recently and had a great time. It was nice outside, so almost all of the tables were already full outside (thankfully we had a reservation!). Inside was totally empty, but may have filled in after we sat down.
We were warmly greeted — and my German friend asked for an English menu for me. I was surprised to receive a menu with no pages! ha! They found me another one after that.
The menu is pretty large, but I selected the panzanella salad — I wasn’t expecting quite some much olive oil on the bread — but it was delicious! Also, the mozarella was really fresh and wonderful. All around, the salad was a nice size (though the large size is PLENTY for dinner) and really tasty and flavorful. I had a Hugo cocktail and we sat for quite a while just chatting.
There are two outdoor spaces, and we were sitting in the large courtyard area (vs. the spot near the stores on the front). It was really relaxing and service was great.
I had a bit of an issue finding it just due to the fact that I didn’t realize it was sort of in the middle of the stores (vs visible from the street), but when I saw people sitting down in a courtyard, I figured it was the right spot. The restaurant itself is actually huge. I passed an amazing looking dessert area, but I was full after the salad, so I skipped it, but my friend said it’s great.
Definitely worth visiting for a nice dinner in a nice (expensive!) area of the city. Worth it to get a bit off of the beaten path and away from all of the tourists.

Im Brenner war ich jetzt schon zum 2. Mal Mittagessen. Ich mag die Business-​Atmosphäre mittags sehr.
Das letzte Mal hatte ich einen Salatteller, dieses Mal die Bigoli all’Amatriciana. Für den Preis ist die Portion voll ok, aber mir war alles ein bisschen zu salzig. Meine Freunde haben das Grillmenu des Tages mit ein Mal Fisch und ein Mal Fleisch genommen, das aber sehr lecker war.

This restaurant is seen as a hot place in Munich and that was confirmed to us as we passed by the first time, since it was full. Anyway I have to say that the price-​quality relationship is not correct. If you want to establish your restaurant in the high pricing scale, you should work as well on the presentation of the dishes and on your tabletop. Before our order, the waiter brought us bread and oil, but there was no plate where you could put the bread and the oil. We had both steak with a side dish: the presentation was like a canteen. The food was only put on the plate without decoration. Furthermore the rosemary potatoes were full of fried oil. The wine was really good.

We went here based on Unilocal and Tripadvisor reviews and ended up really liking it.
The wait staff was fantastic — probably the best we had our entire trip to Europe. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive. We started with splitting a salad that was delicious, and then both ordered the spaghetti bolognese which was fantastic. For dessert we had chocolate cake with banana gelato — yummy!
The front of the restaurant is very chic — dim lighting, very romantic. It would be an awesome place if you’re just looking for drinks and apps.

Huge restaurant located in Munich’s busy and touristy Maximilianstrasse. We were four people popping in for lunch on a Friday without a reservation just before noon. The café in the front opens in the morning but the large dining room opens at noon. After speaking to the friendly hostess, we were seated at a nice window table but she informed us that we only have 1 hour since their lunch reservations are full. Looking around, I was a little skeptical just from the sheer size of the dining room and the number of tables they have. Lo and behold, about 20 minutes later, most of the tables became occupied, by the typical office lunch-​goers and some lone diners squeezing in a nice lunch while reading their newspapers.
There are two huge grills in the center aisle of the main dining room where multiple chefs are busy grilling up various meats and fresh catch of the day. Giant industrial sized vents hanging over the grills ensures all that grilling doesn’t send a whiff of smoke to the rest of the restaurant.
The daily specials are handwritten on large black chalk boards. My companions selected the lunch special of tagliatelle with steinpilz (stone mushrooms) in a delicious cream sauce. The lunch portions weren’t large, but the cream sauce tasted heavier than it looked. The steinpilz was quite tasty, complimented the pasta very well. I ordered the scaloppine al limone, which was light but tasty. I also got a side of spinach, wasn’t special, I just needed some greens with the meal. I also got a tuna tartar appetizer, served with an ultra light wasabi cream sauce and some sprouts on top… so refreshing and tasty it earned this place a fourth star in my book.
There was a bit of wait to get our entrees as the restaurant got super crowded around 12:30pm. The friendly waitress apologized for the long wait. We weren’t in a hurry so it didn’t matter much. Ended up staying for nearly two hours and no one ever came for the table.
TIP: Since this place gets very crowded during the weekdays, if you don’t have a reservation for lunch, just show up at 11:50am and they will seat you right away.

This is one of my favorites in Munich, for private and business occasions. You can have great service and food, but make sure to sit at a good spot in the back of the restaurant. Steaks are great. Outside always good for a coffee. Sit back, relax and enjoy the view.

I have only been here twice but on both occasions the food was high quality and well presented, the service was A-​OK and I like the wine list.
I would recommend Brenner and will return.

Only went for drinks, but very happy that I went. Beautiful interior in a building tucked away from the busy Maximillianstrasse street. Service was attentive and friendly.

If this we’re in LA, this place would be a date place. It has prime location in the swankiest part of town, sexy atmosphere with a bar at the entry, open style dining and great food.
I saw this restaurant listed in the Wallpaper* city guide and thought, oh this would be cool to check out. To help seal the deal, my fiancé took me here as our «last supper» Munich.
I’m not into fine dining but this was a reason to get out of scheppy winter clothes and to dress up a little bit. Upon entering, there was a lounge area where one could get a cocktail and a bite to duck out of table service.
Entering into the main dining room, the staff spoke english (always a plus) and gave us appropriate menus. The crowd is mixed, good for people watching. There were open grills throughout the place where you could see the food being cooked on the spot.
The service was professional, multi-​lingual, and friendly. Cuisine is high quality Italian with homemade pastas, a vast selection of exquisite seafood (octopus, prawns and swordfish) and meat choices to delight any carnivore. Do not skip dessert.
Come here for a special occasion or to break up the mundane routine. Dress up, take in mix of old and new in the interior, the people all around and enjoy every bite.

First and foremost, I offer my apologies that this is not in German. However, my caveat is that Unilocal is an invaluable tool in respect to tourism it would behoove the newer Unilocal sites to allow a mixture of the native language and English to allow a full range of views to assist a potential patron.
I came to Brenner on the tip from the old fashioned Unilocaling, i.e., from a word of mouth recommendation from my Uncle. Being a seasoned world traveler I always heed his advice. Moreover, being a traveler to Munchen numerous times a year his advice carries even more weight. Read — good recommendation from trusted source.
I too have been through and out and about in Munchen about a half dozen times and was very eager to start finding higher scale restaurants that I can return to when needed. I of course am there for all the usual shenanigans of beer gardens, pastries, and Christmas markets but now, that I’ve gotten older, I’d like to also go out and get some great grub in a beautiful restaurant and go see some sort of cultural event before hitting the bars in Schwabing or what not.
This is an über great place to start that night.
First, proximity is absolutely amazing. The place is walking distance to numerous cultural activities and in a beautiful part of town. Easily accessible by U-​Bahn and S-​Bahn. Also, not far from other bars and restaurants.
Second, the ambiance is pretty good and quite cosmopolitan feeling. The space itself is rather large but there are enough twists/​turns/​and other objects to give the table a smaller scale feel. Also, the additions lessen the noise of the restaurant so it provides some intimacy while allowing you to see literally dozens of other tables.
Third (should be first), the food is wonderful. The effect of the close proximity to Italy is pervasive in Munchen in its culture and attitude… it is wonderfully represented in its cuisine too. I love cooked small animals mixed with potatoes and cabbage as much as the next guy but it is nice to see a German city embrace other cuisine so mightily as does Munchen. It is reflected at Brenner. Wonderful Italian food done in an exquisite manner. You can always tell the quality of an Italian restaurant by the quality of the gnocchi… Brenner’s was awesome. All the other dishes and drinks sampled were great as well.
If you’ve got the dough (American slangy term for money) then go. You should be prepared to take your time and dress nicely.
Please speak German if possible… Italian and English also spoken but at least make the attempt to speak in German.

First of all, I really like the way the place is designed, with the bar at the beginning, columns and glass walls, and 2 grills right in the middle of the room.
Second, there are always nice people around, with families and children as well.
Third, you can enjoy lunch and dinner, important opr light, and brunch as well.
And, last but not least, food is good, grilled things especially, but also eggs for Sunday brunch (when you can enjoy also joghurts, fruit, etc), salads all over the day, snacks and pastas. And, there is a great selection of desserts.

I’ve been to this place quite a few times over the years. It’s an interesting mix of bar, restaurant and «barbecue” — Being a big fan of grilled meat and fish, I like the food quite a bit. I also don’t really find the service that arrogant but no one goes out of their way. Lots of seating is available but the place is always packed. Bar area in the front to start the evening and the restaurant in back. Reserve if you want something without waiting. If you are just stopping in for drinks, think twice. Not really a place to «hang out». The bar area is more of a waiting area for the restaurant. Nevertheless, fairly efficient for having a couple drinks and then grabbing your table. Rumor is though that they are having trouble making the monthly rent payments. No idea but it just was mentioned that it could be near the end for Brenner. I wouldn’t miss the place immensely but it’s not a bad addition to the scene on the «Maxi» Strasse.
