Burgers. Simple fare, yet so easy to mess up and come out with some mediocre Golden Arches runner-up. Oh, the plight of the expat, longing for one, yes!, one half decent burger in this pork-centered town… so many wannabes. So, here comes Bratar, brand spanking new(ok, 6 months or so) in the ZOB(the shiny building next to the tracks people, before the Hbf) with two simple offerings: brats and burgers fresh from a grill. Simple. Direct. Good. Or so it seems. I had tried the place out a month into their opening and was positively impressed with the quality, price and TASTE of the burger. I took a regular cheeseburger wanting to start with the standard All American. Nice size, juicy, good texture to the beef. First test passed ok, and thought to myself, I have to come back. One thing I noticed was the smörgåsbord of sauces to influence or add your personal touch to your preferred burger or brat. Few months later(APRIL, 2012): came back at lunch time to quell my hunger for a burger and also to give them another run, now that they are more«settled and relaxed»… staff friendly and attentive, owner still behind the counter. So far, so good. I ask for a Burger with Ziegenkaese and Bacon(keeping it interesting people!) and await the results… But wait! What are you doing there Ma’am? Did that patty just come out a drawer looking like it has already been cooked??? NOOOOOOOOOO!!! Capital sin! Oh, the humanity! YOUARENOTREHEATINGTHATPATTYONTHEGRILL!!!(All going on in my mind as my eyes bulge… yet I keep a calm exterior. This is Germany after all, and public displays of emotion are«Nicht, Nicht!».) So, somewhat disappointed, I pick up my order and schlep over to the seating area, looking at my oh-so-had-looked-forward-to lunch with not so loving eyes. I throw some ketchup in(it’s dead already so drowning it in sauce can’t hurt) and go for the bite and chew. Hold it… whats this? Hmmmm… OK, not as bad as I thought. Maybe not as fresh as I wanted but this burger tastes fine. Mighty fine. Chomp, chomp, chomp… ahhhhhhh. So, my good people at Bratar, whom were perilously a cold patty away from loosing any good faith deposited in them, came out somewhat victorious from my second visit. Takeaways: Lunch hour(12:00−13:00) may not be the best time to grab a burger. Its the ZOB and there are plenty of office buildings around that demand German efficiency at serving hungry cubicle dwellers. Reheated patties: NOOOO! But I understand that efficiency has a price. Just don’t let me see where that patty came from next time. Closing statement: Bratar makes a damn good burger. Tasty, Fairly sized. Period. I’ll go back off hours to see that patty cook! Fries? Who needs them anyway?(But if your asking, 7 on a scale of 1 to 10).

I was impressed from the taste of this Burgers. This Fast Food Restaurant uses only natural commodeties and this makes the differance! Only the prices are a little bit higher than in normal Restaurants.
