Hausmann’s

Schlechte Tage können durch schlechtes Essen noch schlechter werden. Minus mal Minus ergibt halt doch nicht immer Plus.
Wir sind am 27. April 2016 am Frankfurter Flughafen gestrandet, frisch aus Miami gekommen und durch den Streik von Verdi dürfen wir einen halben Tag lang Deutschlands größten Flughafen genießen. Wir haben von Lufthansa Essensgutscheine bekommen, da wollen wir die 2×10 € gebührend auf den Kopf hauen.
Bei Hausmann’s sind wir fündig geworden, es haben nicht viele offen — es wird ja gestreikt. Ich hatte die Nürnberger Bratwürste mit Sauerkraut und Röstzwiebeln und Stampf. OMG — hatte noch nie soooo schlechte Bratwürste. Absolut geschmacksreduziert. Der Stampf leblos und das Sauerkraut, als ob es schon 47 mal aufgewärmt wurde. Kostet 9,90 €. Man müsste Schmerzensgeld bekommen.
Das nebenbei das Essen quasi auf dem Fussboden serviert wird macht vielleicht der infantilen Kundschaft Spaß, uns weniger.
Naja, man lernt halt immer dazu.

Ein von drei Inhabern gefuehrtes Restaurant im Sicherheitsbereich A des Terminals 1 am Frankfurter Flughafen mit einem gelungenen Speise– und Getraenkeangebot lockte mich hier zum Verweilen ein, obwohl ich meinen Zielflughafen mit FFM schon erreicht hatte. Weil einer der drei Personen Tim Maelzer ist, wollte ich mir seine gelungenen Speisekreationen, welche ich schon oefters woanders probiert habe, nicht entgehen lassen. Die Preise befinden sich fuer die gebotenen Speisen im angemssenen Rahmen und vor allem weil man ja hier im Flughafen ist. Begruesst wurde ich von der Bedienung, meinen Platz habe ich aber durch die free seating Aufforderung selbst eingenommen. Es war schwierig, sich fuer einen freien Paltz zu entscheiden, denn die verschiedenen Stilelemente im Restaurant liessen jeden freien Platz in einem anderen angenehmen Licht erscheinen. Der Faktor Wohlfuehlambiente wird hier gross geschrieben. Da sich Speise– und Getraenkekarte schon auf dem Tisch befinden, wird man staendig von dem aufmerksamen Personal beobachtet, damit relativ schnell bestellt werden kann. Manche haben es ja eilig, um noch ihren Flug zu erreichen. Mir persoenlich hat beim Getraenkeangebot die grosse Auswahl an Craft Beer gefallen. Zum Essen bestellte ich mir die Schweinerei und wurde auf das Positivste ueberrascht. Die Darbeitung, die Zubereitung und der Geschmack der Schweinerei hervorragend. Schaut auch meine Bilder hierzu an. Das sagt mehr als 1000 Worte. Ich kann mir vorstellen, jedesmal im Hausmann’s zu essen, wenn ich mich im Sicherheitsbereich A des Terminals 1 aufhalte. Ich schwaerme immer noch und kann das Restaurant nur empfehlen.

I decide to give it a try, as I was in a hurry, so I asked how long to make toast, eggs and bacon. The lady said 5 minutes. After 20 minutes I still didn’t have my food.
I would never recommend this place. I finally asked for my money back as I needed to get to my flight.
Thanks for wasting 20 minutes of my time that I could have found some place else that would serve the food fast!

At first glance this seemed like a cool place to eat, they had a fun breakfast menu with fun German sounding American breakfast diner food. We got a seat and orders food but when we asked for regular water, tap water, we got a very rude sounding «we don’t have tap water» she offered us a bottle of water, but failed to mention that it would cost 7.5 €, which was what most of the meals cost. Honey for tea was also .50 extra, while the other cafes in the area offers the same honey for free
The food was ok, but too much extra herbs and spices sprinkled on the plate to look nice but didn’t do anything to make the food taste better. It was quite dry actually :(. After we were done we had to wait 45 min for the waitress to bring the bill, even though I was eye-​contacting her all the time she kept avoiding out table, and then she hovered around while we were paying like she was double checking our tip! Bad behavior! Plz go away.
After we left we saw that water fountains and tap water all over the place so it was a bullshit from the restaurant.
I never wanna go back and Frankfurt airport is a boring airport.

Sympathique mais pas franchement délicieux, voire pas bon (steak gras, frites surgelées, Schnitzel Findus). Malgré tout, largement mieux que ce qu’on peut trouver dans la majorité des aéroports. Ce serait donc plutôt un 2 étoiles ½! Management efficace.

This lovely looking restaurant in Frankfurt Airport has the location to do well, but it offers so little. I was greeted with a grumpy waitress who told me to sit down and wait when i asked for a one-​man table. When i got my table ANOTHER grumpy waitress come to me, and mumbled something in German to me (i assume she was asking what i wanted to eat) without looking at me, and without smiling. I asked «say again, please» in English, and then she asked «What do you want to eat» in a careless way as if her job didn’t require her to give great service. I told her what i wanted, and waited for 6−7mins which was short enough for a burger. A bit TOO short i would it would seem as a waitor served me my burger without smiling (hattrick), and when i asked for ketchup he just pointed at my neighbouring table where a ketchup sat between two customers plates.
As i was saying the burger came too quickly as i discovered the meat was cooked hours ago, and the cheese on top had probably been on it for 2 – 3 hours. Not even close to a fresh meal. 15 euros that burger cost me, and it was terrible. I didn’t manage to finish it, and the chips was mediocre. I paid my bill without giving a tip and left, never to return.
To sum up:
I have never experienced WORSE customer service in my life at a restaurant, and i was sat there lauging at how badly they were doing their job (they treated others as bad). The food was terrible, and expensive. A Big Mac at a McDonalds is twice the meal, and experience compared to this disgrace of a restaurant. DON’T GO HERE

I waited ten minutes for someone to come take my order. I ordered the rotisserie chicken and a glass of wine. The chicken was extremely over-​cooked and very, very dry. I literally had to drink water after every bite.
I’ve now been waiting 36 minutes (and counting) to other something else and no server stops at my table. I’m very disappointed with the service and quality of good.

5-​stars for excellent brats and fresh Warsteiner!!!
We purposely did a layover in FRA after traveling elsewhere in Europe, just fir the opportunity to get good brats and good German bier. While Warsteiner is not a «local» or regional bier, it beats anything back home! Several half-​liters and some excellent Nurnberger brats, and I am one happy junge!!! Sehr gut!!!

Frühstück war überraschend lecker. Perfekter Croissant mit Bircher Müsli und Obst, dazu ein Cappuccino. Preis-​Leistungsverhältnis hat gepasst, empfehle ich für Reisende, die etwas Zeit haben und ordentlich Essen wollen.

Das Personal sehr aktraktiv, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit.
Das Essen
Ich hatte mir eine normale Erbsensuppe mit Einlage bestellt, meine Frau hatte sich einen Riesenburger mit Pommes bestellt. Die Getränkebestellung wurde, obwohl das Lokal sehr gut besucht war, schnell gebracht, ebenso war die Wartezeit für die Speisen kurz. Die Erbsensuppe war nach meinem Geschmack, wie eben Hausmannskost sein sollte. Die Portion Burger mit Pommes war reichlich und schmeckte auch.

Viel Betrieb, nett aufgemacht, man fühlt sich aber wohl ***

Bei dieser Vielzahl an Gästen wurden die Tische regelmäßig sauber gemacht

A variety of seating, even booths. Which is great for kids. Food was good for an early dinner, options at all price points. Definitely above average for an airport ding experience!

Großartiges Flughafen-​Restaurant (im Lufthansa-​Sicherheitsbereich), in dem Tim Mälzer & Co. beweisen,
dass Fast Food auch lecker und gesund gekocht werden kann: z.B.
geschmälzte Maultaschen. Alle Achtung, immer wieder! Da macht das Reisen Spaß.

Wenn man aus der hannoverschen Provinz in die weite Welt fliegen möchte ist man ja leider gezwungen zwischenzuladen. Etwa in Paris, Amsterdam oder Frankfurt. So blieb meiner Frau und mir auf dem Weg nach Mauritius dieses mal ein wenig Zeit, die wir auf dem schönen Fraport verbringen konnten.
Wir steuerten also zielgerichtet den gastronomischen Beitrag von Tim Mälzer, das Hausmann’s, an. Das sehr schön im Vintage Design gestylte Restaurant ist offen zu einem FoodCourt gelegen und war am späten Sonntag Nachmittag gut besucht.
Wir fragten nach einem Tisch für zwei und bekamen einen zentral in mitten des lebhaften Gastraumes gelegen Hochtisch. Eine äußerst hübsche, ungemein attraktive junge Bedienung begrüßte uns erneut und brachte die Menukarten. Die Auswahl ist nicht groß, bietet aber dennoch eine interessante Auswahl deutscher Gerichte mit Fusion Touch. Wir wählten Nürnberger Würstchen mit Champagnerkraut (meine Frau) und Tagliarini mit Scampis für mich. Dazu eine Flasche Apolinaris.
Das Essen kam nach angemessener Wartezeit. Die Nürnberger schmeckten meiner Frau sehr gut und unterschieden sich nicht sehr von denen, die man in Franken genießen kann. Der Teller war sehr nett angerichtet und die Portion war ungemein groß. Meine Pasta sah so gut appetitlich aus, dass ich beinahe reingesprungen wäre… und schmeckte grandios. Ich hatte kurzfristig das Gefühl irgendwo am Strand zu sitzen… Wähnte mich also quasi schon im Urlaub. Zwischendurch fragte die reizende Bedienung noch nach unserem Wohlbefinden — ich glaube sie hätte es mir auch ansehen können.
Fazit: Das Hausmann’s ist der perfekte Start in den Urlaub und ein Muss bei jedem stop over in Frankfurt.

Sehr nette, schnelle Bedienung; leckere Hausmannskost.
So wünsche ich mir restaurants, nicht nur am Flughafen.

Someone died and I still considered it a good travel day.
Very long story short, there was a train accident on my way to the Frankfurt Airport which made for a very strange day. But when things go awry, I tend to follow the song lyrics above. That meant passing time during the almost 4-​hour delay by meeting some really interesting people on the train (chatting about bio-​ethics with a guy from Poland) and making the most of a bad situation. This too shall pass.
For quite awhile, I was sure we would miss our flight, but we ended up arriving with enough time for a meal. And it was surprisingly nice for an airport nosh. It turns out this gastropub is co-​owned by a celebrity chef in Germany, Tim Maltster, along with Patrick Rüther and Tim Plasse. The team did a great job with the concept, menu and service was really sweet. The overall experience was the equivalent of a warm hug at the end of a long day.
Many German meat and potato dishes are on the menu alongside lighter salads. Our group ate at a long elevated wood table in the bar area. There is more traditional seating on the other side of the restaurant. It would definitely be at the top of my list for airport dining, but I think I need a little break from Frankfurt for awhile.
