Castellan

A charming little restaurant beneath the castle with great ambiance and a wonderful spot to spend the hours you might have otherwise spent exploring the aforementioned keep, but are instead content to stare at an empty table, perhaps strike up long-​term friendships with fellow customers wondering when the agitated shouting (in Itlaian) in the kitchen between the cook (s?) and server would end such that they might actually serve their customers something (what that is remains a bit of a mystery, as the main dishes seem to be whatever you can ask for, based on the lack of entrees, an interpretive Tagesmenu, and the fact that other patrons seemed to be asking for different pastas dishes altogether… none of which were mentioned to us). The food was actually fine, although a third of my meal never arrived (when we asked to pay, some sort of pasta with a tomato sauce was promised to be ready, which presumably would have balanced the well-​prepared grilled salmon, green beans, and woefully overcooked romanescu that I did get and had mostly eaten over… I was still charged full price). My touristing companion was suitably happy with her pasta with vegetables (in an unexpected tomato cream sauce… although there was some tiny bit of shrimp shell that turned up in the sauce, in spite of me suggesting — auf Deutsch, natürlich — that she preferred to eat vegetarian.
A grudging 2 stars for the nice restaurant (the abundant display of wines may have been a hint re: the best way to take in the fare), mostly decent food for what did arrive, another customer who praised to chef’s gastronomical genius, and the server’s implausible ability to collect herself after shouting in the kitchen to deliver some modicum of service with a smile.

Mein absolutes Lieblingsrestaurant! Alles top: Bedienung, Koch/​Küche, Sauberkeit, Frische, Ambiente, man kann es nicht besser machen!
