I go here every trip to Dusseldorf. The beer is good, the service is decent and the food is fantastic. Nice place for a couple or a group. Just be aware its almost always full so go early if you have a larger group.

Personal ist ziemlich grob motorisch. Damit meine ich deren verhalten und Professionalität gegenüber den Gästen. Heutzutage wünscht man sich in einem Restaurant eine neutrale und positive Umgebung und eben freundliches Personal.
Das Essen war ok. Die Bratkartoffel waren sehr lecker! Aber mein Wiener Schnitzel war leider nicht genießbar. Sehr zäh und ganz tief im fett getunkt– teilweise angebrannt.
Schade!

Nach dem Abschluss einer anstrengenden Messewoche waren wir hier mit 3 Leuten am Donnerstag abend. Obwohl in der Woche ist der Gastraum voll und man musste auf einen Sitzplatz warten.
Da ein ständiges kommen und gehen herrscht haben wir aber nicht lange gewartet. Nach gefühlten 30 Sekunden hat der Köbes uns das erste Füchschen gebracht. Was schmeckt dieses Bier Lecker und frisch!
Zum Essen haben wir Schnitzel und nackensteak gewählt was nach angemessener Wartezeit zum Tisch kam. Die Zeit haben wir natürlich mit ein paar Füchschen und den lockeren und knackigen Sprüchen vom Köbes überbrückt.
Was soll ich sagen, auch dieser Besuch war, wie alle anderen zuvor auch, einfach Klasse und das Füchschen ist immer einen Besuch wert. Egal ob nur auf 1 Bier auf der «Durchreise» oder zum essen, trinken und verweilen… hier komme ich gerne hin!

Was soll ich bei über 150 Bewertungen noch groß schreiben…
Das Bier schmeckt mir vor allem im Brauhaus Ambiente richtig gut, musste ich mich doch als Zugezogenen erst mal ans Altbier gewöhnen ;o)
Die Lage ist natürlich top, gut zu erreichen, ob zu Fuß oder mit dem Auto.
Wir besuchten letztens das Füchschen zusammen mit meinen Eltern, bei einem Besuch in Düsseldorf darf so was natürlich nicht fehlen. Es war ein Sonntag Mittag, also dementsprechend voll, wir fanden aber nach kurzer Suche einen schönen Tisch, der zwar noch von den Vorgängern vollstand, aber sobald wir uns gesetzt haben kam auch schon ein Kellner und räumte fix alles auf.
Die Getränke folgten keine 10 Minuten später und das Essen ließ auch keine halbe Stunde auf sich warten.
Wir aßen Haxe mit Sauerkraut und Püree, Grillrippchen mit Ofenkartoffel und ein Schnitzel Wiener Art mit Bratkartoffeln. Alles war absolut super! Typische deftige Brauhaus-​Küche, da kann man viel falsch machen, aber hier haben es die Köche raus.
Die Portionen waren ordentlich, vor allem die Rippchen waren sehr sehr lecker. Total zart und es war ordentlich Fleisch dran. Die Marinade war sehr würzig, einfach toll. Von der Haxe ließ sich mein Vater sogar was einpacken ;)
Wir probierten auch das alkoholfreie Füchschen, welches stark nach Malzbier schmeckte, aber eine nette Alternative für Fahrer ist. Ich trank die hausgemachte Rhabarberschorle, auch lecker.
Wie man’s in Brauhäusern gewohnt ist, ist der Service flott und hat immer einen manchmal derben Spruch auf den Lippen. damit muss man rechnen und darf es nicht als Unhöflichkeit werten. So Sind die Köbesse halt.
Die Preise mögen einem hoch vorkommen, da aber die Portionen sehr großzügig sind, das Essen schnell kommt und es eben auch ein typischer Touri-​Ort ist, gibt’s dabei nichts zu meckern. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Arrogante Bedienung, die es nicht für nötig hält, die Gäste zu bedienen, sondern die Gäste durch den Laden scheucht. Gerade am einzigen freien Tisch Platz genommen, zehn Minuten auf die Bedienung gewartet, ist die Begrüßung des Kellners «Die Tische hier hinten machen wir zu … müsst nach vorne». Also wieder mit Sack und Pack einen neuen Tisch im Lokal suchen? Das ist ja wohl ein mieser Scherz? Dazu gibt’s schlechtes aufgewärmtes Essen á la Massenabfertigung. Ignoranz und miese Qualität sind eine schlechte Kombination!

We ate here twice, on our first visit we saved the gargantuan pork knuckles for the tourists and tried some German faves like the Pot Roast and Creamed Herring, which was exceptional!
Our second go-​round had us going for the pork knuckle along with assorted Wursts and kraut, also delicious… Sand the Altbiers kept a coming — No complaints here!

Montag, ein Tag nach dem 2. Advent, das Wetter ist schön … der richtige Tag ein paar Weihnachtseinkäufe zu tätigen. Nicht sooo viel zu tun in den Geschäften, aber auch nicht gerade leer in der Altstadt.
Einkaufen macht natürlich hungrig, und was liegt nahe, wenn man in der Altstadt ist? Ein Besuch beim Füchschen in der Ratinger Straße. Was soll man noch viel sagen? Ein grundsolides Lokal mit gutem Essen und Service … gehört zu Düsseldorf wie die Radschläger. Das Füchschen Alt ist definitiv eins der besten Alt Biere. Keine Frage.
Und was isst man als kleinen Happen zum Bier? «En halve Hahn» … für die nicht-​Düsseldorfer: ein Röggelchen (Roggenbrötchen) mit Mainzerkäse und Kümmel. Nicht zu verwechseln mit der Kölner Art, die Gouda anstelle von Mainzer verwendet.
Das Röggelchen war frisch und knusprig und der Mainzer hatte genau den richtigen Reifegrad. Und das Alt war süffig. Perfekt.

Neben dem guten Füchschen– Alt, welches eine Menge Leute lieben und genießen, gehört rheinische Gemütlichkeit, total nettes Publikum und gutes Essen zum Fuchs. Wer richtig gut essen will bekommt hier Gerichte in sehr guter Qualität zu angemessenen Preisen, wobei ich nicht nur rheinische Spezialitäten meine. Also Füchsen ist eine der favorisierten Hausbrauereien in Düsseldorf. Man sitzt und genießt rustikal und laut, aber Kommunikation, verbunden mit Spaß ist das Geheimrezept der Hausbrauereien Düsseldorfs.

Das Füchschen ist für mich das empfehlenswerteste Brauhaus Düsseldorfs. Warum? Das Essen wird von Fachleuten /​Köchen gut und schmackhaft zubereitet, das Bier schmeckt. Zu Festtagen und besonderen Anlässen wird das Brauhaus geschmückt und es ist dort immer rege Betrieb. Mit etwas Glück sitzt man nicht allein und kommt schnell in Kontakt. Einfach nur nette, aufgeschlossene Menschen dort, ist mein Eindruck.
Wer will, kann sein Alt auch draußen vor der Türe und im Stehen trinken.
De Preise sind günstig und die Mitarbeiter sind nicht überschwenglich freundlich, aber freundlich.
Die Werbung der Brauerei ist die Lustigste, die ich kenne. Weiter so. Dann lohnt sich auch der Weg von Köln dorthin!

Heute mal Schweinepfeffer mit Rotkohl und Kartoffeln von der Tageskarte probiert. Wieder mal 1a Qualität :)

Great Brewery and Excellent German Food in Dusseldorf! Their Sauerbraten was the best I have ever had! Delicious! Great Beer as well!

Ich liebe das Füchschen. Das Bier schmeckt mir am besten in Düsseldorf. Die Köbes sind nett, das Essen sehr lecker (deftig deutsch). Preise sind ok. Das Publikum find ich angenehm und ich fühl mich hier einfach wohl.

Wir sind auf Empfehlung im Füchschen gewesen, allerdings nur auf ein paar Absacker (ohne Essen), daher keine Bewertung zu den Speisen. Die Tische draußen waren sehr voll, die beiden Kellner brachten dennoch stets Nachschub und auch im Abräumen waren sie recht schnell. Das Altbier schmeckte gut und war angenehm temperiert.
Einzig den «Rauswurf» um 1 Uhr nachts hätte ich mir etwas freundlicher gewünscht als das Brüllen von «Feierabend» in den Gastraum.

Unfassbar was uns heute dort passiert ist!
Meine Frau und ich sind heute Montag 15.6.2015 gegen 13:30 Uhr im Füchschen gewesen. Da wir Hunger hatten und unsere 2 Wochen alte Tochter die Flasche bekommen musste.
Was dann jedoch geschah ist mir in 15 Jahren Gastronomie noch nicht untergekommen!
Wir saßen draußen an den Biertischen und haben aus der Karte ausgewählt. Meine Frau und ich haben derweil unsere Tochter abwechselnd das Fläschchen gegeben und wurden in dieser Zeit (exakt 25 Min. lang) von 2 Kellnern IGNORIERT!
Die Tische hinter und vor uns wurden MEHRFACH bedient und aus der Küche versorgt und uns hat man nicht einmal gefragt ob wir etwas bestellen möchten!
Ziemlich angefressen ging ich in den Laden zum Häuschen wo der Chef/​Schichtleiter saß und fragte ihn ob die beiden Kellner draußen sein bestes Personal ist.
Darauf kam auch schon einer der beiden Kellner und Pfiff mich richtig blöd von der Seite an! Nachdem ich ihm erklärt habe das man so niemals mit einem Gast redet bzw. diskutiert, wurde er immer ungehaltener! Als Erklärung warum er 25 Minuten NICHT an unseren Tisch gekommen ist, war der absolute Höhepunkt unsere kleinen Diskussion! Er sagte wortwörtlich:
«IHRE FRAU WAR AM STILLEN UND DESWEGEN HABE ICH NICHT GEFRAGT»
Zur Erinnerung wir haben beide uns abgewechselt und die Flasche gegeben!
Also liebe Familien mit Säuglingen… Nicht ins Füchschen gehen, da man dort keine Bestellung aufgeben darf wenn man sein Kind füttert!
Unfassbar, das erste und mit Sicherheit das letzte Mal hier gewesen!

This was my first stop of the evening. This was recommended by our Hotel. 1,90 € each for Alt. Excellent environment. Cobblestone street and seating and serving stations on the sidewalk.

Wenn ich all diese positiven Bewertungen lese, vermute ich, dass wir gestern einen schlechten Tag erwischt haben. Direkt vorweg: Das Essen und das Bier waren köstlich und sehr sättigend. Ich war nach der mächtigen Portion Bratkartoffeln nach einem Schweinenacken-​Steak proppenvoll. Auf ein wiederholtes Essen im Hause lass ich mich jederzeit gerne überreden.
Gefallen hat mir jedoch nicht das Auftreten des Personals. Wir hatten im Haus einen Tisch bestellt. Da wir eine halbe Stunde früher vor Ort waren als erwartet, fragten wir, ob wir den Tisch nicht jetzt schon besetzen können. Leider starrte uns der gefragte Kellner einfach nur an und weisste mit einem abwertenden Fingerzeigen auf seinen Kollegen. Nun ja, wir mussten die halbe Stunde warten. Wir wären woanders hingegangen, doch da die Altstadt nach dem gestrigen Marathon überfüllt war, war es schwer woanders einen Tisch für so viele Personen zu ergattern.
Der Kellner, der uns den Abend über bedient hatte, strahle solch eine unglaubliche Demotivation aus, dass ich aus Spaß ein Glas «Freundlichkeit» bestellt habe — er konnte dabei nicht mal schmunzeln. War wohl doch nicht so witzig, wie gedacht. Zu Beginn des Abends wurden unsere Gläser schnell wieder nachgefüllt, doch gegen Abend sahen wir den Kellner immer seltener (obwohl das Brauhaus immer leerer wurde).
Mein Fazit: Die Lokalität fügt mit ihrer Brauhaus-​Atmosphäre wunderbar in die Düsseldorfer Altstadt. Das Essen ist ausgezeichnet und das hausgebraute Füchschen-​Alt ist sehr zu empfehlen. Ich hoffe, dass ich bei einem nächsten Besuch auch ein positiven Eindruck vom Personal erhalten werde, dann gibt’s die volle Punktzahl.

I strongly advise to try their home made beer, the best I had in Düsseldorf. Pork meat is special too!
Prices are affordable and reasonable, grey spot for big groups as they do have big tables all over!

Wer auf einer Tour durch die Altstadt ist, sollte das Füchschen auf jeden Fall besuchen, schon alleine wegen des sehr leckeren Altbiers, das ist geschmacklich wirklich top.
Das Essen ist deftig, rustikal-​rheinländisch mit z.B. Haxe und Sülze mit einem guten Preis-​Leistungsverhältnis. Es bietet meiner Meinung nach von allen Hausbrauereien die beste Hausmannkost.
Es ist laut, eng und heiss, aber wer viele Menschen und gute Stimmung mit rheinischem Frohsinn mag, ist dort gut aufgehoben.
Die Kellner sind locker drauf, und schnell dabei, leere Gläser abzuräumen und durch volle auszutauschen.

I visited for lunch with my husband and parents and we all took the «Schnitzel Wiener Art» (pork meat) with cranberries, fried potatoes and salad. Our waiter was even nice enough to pack us a to-​go box so we could enjoy the leftovers back home!

Eines der vier Düsseldorfer Brauhäuser und auf der Ratinger Straße liegend ein wenig ab vom Schuss. Im Prinzip ähnlich den anderen Häusern, leckeres, süffiges Bier, nicht zu herb, aber auch nicht sonderlich süßlich. Deftige, vor allem deutsche Küche. Insgesamt gut essbar, wenn auch vielleicht nicht die gehobene Gastronomie. Hausmannskost, zu der sehr gut das ein oder andere Bier passt.
Voll ist es eigentlich immer und innen gerne auch mal laut und eher etwas stickig. Vor der Tür, wenn auch an der Straße gelegen, lässt sich auch ganz gut das ein oder andere Bier nehmen. Preislich mäßig, alle Brauereien nehmen ja im Großen und Ganzen den gleichen Preis.

As we were strolling around in Altstadt and checking our trusting Unilocal app to find good eats, a local person walking by butted in our conversation nicely and pointed us to Füchschen for good altbier, food, and fun.
There is no shortage of pubs or breweries nearby by, hence the claim of having «the longest bar in the world» in Altstadt, and this place stands out as being more crowded despite its massive size. Drinks came almost immediately after we were seated, this is one of the four house-​breweries where altbier is brewed on premises so altbier is what you get… pretty perfect! As soon as you finish one another will be brought to you and another pencil mark added to the coaster that serves as a beer tab. Traditional hearty German food to go with the Alt. Schweinhaxe (pork knuckle) and Wiener Schnitzel are very good, both came with plenty of sides and definitely satisfactory.

Rustikales und dennoch ein sehr gemütliches Brauhaus mitten auf der Ratinger.
Für meinen Geschmack wird hier das mit Abstand leckerste Altbier ausgeschenkt.
Serviert werden deftige Brauhausspezialitäten wie Schweinshaxe, Schnitzel, Sauerbraten etc.
Nicht zu vergessen die kleinen Mahlzeiten für zwischendurch wie Mett oder Käse Brötchen! Für mich ist es immer die erste Anlaufstelle um meinen Besuch Düsseldorf «schmackhaft» zu machen!

Zum Füchschen wurde schon viel gesagt und geschrieben. Natürlich ist es eine Institution und natürlich hat es glatte 5 Sterne verdient.
An den Abenden ist das Füchschen immer sehr voll, aber irgendwo kann man sich immer zwischen stellen oder setzen. An angenehm warmen Tagen kann man allerdings auch prima draußen stehen und sein Bierchen genießen. Solang das Wetter es hergibt finde ich diese Variante persönlich auch viel schöner. Das Füchschen ist außerdem die erste Hausbrauerei in Düsseldorf, welche ein alkoholfreies Alt auf den Markt gebracht hat. Also ist mir in der Brauerei im Füchschen sogar der leckere, pure Altgenuss in Verbindung mit dem Autofahren möglich — in diesem Fall kann ich euch ausnahmsweise guten Gewissens sagen: Drink & Drive!
Das Essen ist einfach und lecker. Es gibt wechselnde Tagesgerichte. Letztens hatte ich Kasseler mit Bohnengemüse. Wie früher bei Oma!
Ein kleiner Tipp von mir ist allerdings auch das Frühstück in der Brauerei im Füchschen! Ab 10:00 Uhr kann man hier wunderbar drinnen und draußen Frühstücken, zu einem fairen Preis! Wem es also Abends zu voll ist, sollte definitiv morgens mal vorbeischauen.

I’ve not much to add to the other reviews. The food and beer is great, but the refills are a bit slow. They have English menus, so be sure to ask if you’re confused, but also check the German menus for the daily specials that are not in the English version.
Beer is € 1.80/0.25L, cheaper than Schumacher.

Massive building. We grabbed a place in the greenhouse section at the back and ordered some traditional hearty German fayre to go with our Fuchsen Alts! My Bratwurst (snigger) and potato salad was very tasty.
The worst toilets I encountered on the trip. They would not have looked out of place in an English pub!

Abends haben wir im Füchschen gegessen. Wirtschaftskrise??? was ist das??? im Füchschen jedenfalls nicht!!! Dort läuft das Bier, und der Köbes lässt keinen Gast «vertrocknen». Die Gäste bunt gemischt und die Stimmung ist gut. Das Essen ist lecker, reichlich und bezahlbar. Wer in Düsseldorf ist, und dort nicht einkehrt hat was verpasst…

Nachdem wir auf der AIDA mit den feinsten Speisen verwöhnt wurden, sollte es jetzt wieder einmal ganz normale, handfeste Hausmannskost sein. Also auf ins Füchschen und Leberknödel mit Sauerkraut und Pürree bestellt. Dazu 1 kühles Füchschen. Ja… wir sind wieder daheim.

Wanderer kommst Du nach Düsseldorf, solltest Du unbedingt hier einkehren. Hunger und Durst kann man hier prima mit Füchschen Alt und einer überraschend guten und preisgünstigen Brauhausküche bekämpfen. Nicht nur im Sauerbraten-​Palast in Aachen schmeckt derselbige, hier allerdings gibt es ihn mit Klößen (wie es sich gehört). Auch die Rinder-​Roullade mit Gemüse in Mehlschwitze ist sehr empfehlenswert. Das Füchschen ist echt und im Unterschied zu vielen anderen Brauhäusern nicht auf «echt» gemacht. Die Leute sind nett, was man auch von den Köbessen sagen kann. An besonderen Tagen wird hier festlich geschmückt. Ich liebe dieses Lokal und finde mich damit ab, dass es beileibe kein Geheimtipp mehr ist oder jemals war.-
Besonders witzig finde ich die Werbekampagne von Füchschen.

This place is great. The beer is spectacular. Only one on tap but their Alt is the best. It came highly recommended by the locals and after 2 years when I came back to Dusseldorf this was my first stop again. Kinda hard to order from the menu since the staff is not the friendliest but I just point to something and it has never been bad. I’ll be back tomorrow, and possibly the next day till I go back home.

Came here around 9:00p on our first night in Dusseldorf, recommended by our hotel’s front desk.
Despite being fairly late in a Tuesday, the place was near capacity. Not sure if it was a typical Tuesday evening or if it was because of the trade show or the champions league match, but I was surprised at the crowd.
We had the schnitzel and the sauerbraten and both were very good. The schnitzel had a nice crunch to the breading, yet was still moist and not overlooked. The sauerbraten was melt in the mouth tender.
I had the Alt, which not surprisingly is the only draft beer they serve. The only other beer available is their own weizenbock, served in a swing top bottle.
While there didn’t appear to be any other children, they did have a high chair for our daughter, so I guess you can say they are family friendly.
The staff was cordial and several of the waiters came by to say hello to our girl.
All in all, a terrific experience. If there weren’t so many other pubs I want to try, I would go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

Le cadre est vraiment sympa, l’acceuil est chaleureux; la carte en anglais est bien pratique quand vous né parlez pas Allemand !
J’ai testé le Pork Knuckle, et franchement… c’est une véritable tuerie; c’est excellent !
La bière brassée directement dans l’établissement est sublime elle aussi !
A savoir que vous pouvez visiter la brasserie.

Had a late evening dinner in March 2009. I was craving schnitzel and someone had recommended Brauerei im Füchschen. It had been raining and as it was late the restaurant was sparsely occupied. I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel (served with fried potatoes), side salad, a 0.25 liter draught of Füchschen Alt, some Gerolsteiner still water and cheesecake for dessert. The beer and the schnitzel were outstanding, the cheesecake was good, and the salad was fair. Overall the meal was delicious, hearty and fulfilling

Hands down the best meal I had in Germany. This was just properly good meat and potatoes, but done so well. Service in Europe can be pretty bad, including Germany. With the waiter, I couldn’t tell if he was being an asshole or sarcastic, but in the end, we still got served.
Obviously, you sit down and order Altbiers. They brew their own brand of the Dusseldorf specific beer. They’re small, but they keep coming as the waiter will refill them as you finish them.
I highly recommend the: Marinated pot roast «Rhineland style» with red cabbage, potato dumplings, and apple sauce. The roast was so soft and juicy. The cabbage had a proper sour bite to it instead of being a mushy mess. The sweet apple sauce complimented the saltiness in the pot roast’s sauce. The dumpling was nothing I’ve had before as a large ball of potatoey goodness. It was similar to a matzah ball, but more firm and doughy.
My friend got a huge rack of ribs that he could’ve get close to finish. When it came to the table, it looked like something that would be served at an American BBQ restaurant, not in Europe.
This is truly for Germans or Americans, as the portions are enormous. Enjoy the food, the beer, and the atmosphere of the old, old brewery.

A friend of mine that I met in the United States is from Dusseldorf and when I decided to study abroad in the Netherlands I made it a point to stop by her home town and check it out — Little did I know that I was in for the best 4 days of my life.
Germany is obviously know for some top notch beers, but if you’re in Dusseldorf you’d better be drinking Alt Bier! The first time three of my friends went here we sat down with said German friend and she told us just to order a small beer and then whatever we wanted from the menu. We sat at a huge picnic style table with about two other groups and the atmosphere was just so inviting. The vibes and the décor in this brewery made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside… or was that just the beer? The food came out and it was out of this world. Honestly, I can’t even tell you what I had at dinner that night and this is only due to what I am about to say…
Every time your beer is even close to being finished, you turn to talk to your neighbor and BOOM! Just like that, there is a new beer in its place and there is no sign of the waiter or waitress. How is that even possible!!! I have no idea, but it was fantastic! By the end of the dinner the waiter had kept track of the number of beers we had in pencil on the table and I just saw rows of 5 as far as the eye could see. This place is truly an experience of a life time. The service was better than anything I have ever had in the US even though it is constantly packed with people.
About two days later, we came back to the brewery on Easter Sunday for one last taste of delicious Alt Bier and the food. This place was packed full of drunk and friendly Germans. I’ve never met so many nice drunk people in one single place! The food and the service were the same as before.
It’s evident that this place has something good going on here. The food, the beer, the service, and the experience all add up to what was the best 4 days of my life. Dusseldorf, you are an amazing city with a lot to share.

Being in Dusseldorf (and in Germany) for only a day, I wanted it to count. Looked in Unilocal and found this place as a typical local brewery.
The place do live up to the expectations. A large set of tables outside do welcome you… you shouldn’t expect the personnel to do or sit you. You just set for a table outside or inside an sit there! I was alone and the smallest table available inside was one for eight. I felt a bit strange to sit there but it seemed alright and a couple quickly sat on the other end of the table… just the way to do things here!
The menu (set on the table along the flatware, napkins and coasters) was all in German but the server showed up quickly and brought me one in english after I asked for it. He proposed the beer produced by the brewery the «Füchschen Alt» a typical «Altbier» from the area. It is served very cold and is quite nice.
Wanted to have a typical meal, I did set for the «Choucroute garnie» served with mashed potatoes, ham and a nice selection of sausages.
Service was efficient and the waiter was nice enough. At the end it did cost me 15 euro for the meal and two beers… the waiter was a little upset that I wanted to pay with a credit card «Here in Germany people use cash, it’s quicker» and that I’ll have to go with him at the front to access to the machine (my card had «chip and pin» like they say in Europe) and it was really not a big deal.

Been back there again and everything stays the same, delicious beer and love the mett, plus the kaise brotchen, spelled wrong but an open faced cheese sandwhich on delicious bread, great cheese. wait staff love them, they humor me with their English and my few german words in response… a great place for fun and food.

This is a really fun spot to grab a beer, eat some cheap food and watch the tourists. We had a patio seat and were able to experience our first authentic beer and bratwurst. The nice waitress took great care of us and we had a nice relaxing first evening in Altstadt.

Great beer, ridiculously large portions and rude waiters that bring you beer even when you don’t ask for it. The food is mostly traditional German dishes… large roasted pig legs, brats, sour kraut, etc. The beer is their own brew.

Visited this brewery with a few of my buddies on my trip to Germany in October. It was his favorite place for beer so of course I said «lets do it!» As we walked towards this place, it was crowded with patrons of all ages sitting inside and out. Definitely a good sign. The insides? This place is old so you could say it’s basic yet charming. But who cares. The highlight of my time there were the waiters.
Want to be waited on hand and foot? Want to be pampered? Or just want plain service? Forget about this place. Our waiter ignored us and came over only when he was done chatting with his fellow waiters. I thought it was an isolated incident but to my irritation, he ignored us over… and over… and over again. There were no misunderstandings or thoughts that «maybe he didn’t see us.» We waved to him. Made eye contact. He waved back and continued to chat away. LOL! Talk about an asshole!!! It was then that my buddy told me that this was considered normal service from back in the day… the German way. My annoyance gave way to amusement and soon I was laughing my ass off!
I’m giving this place 4 stars because of the beer. Füchschen Alt. Get it. It’s definitely the beer to try. Can’t give it the full 5 stars since I didn’t have a chance to go out and do my «taste test» at the other breweries/​bars. Also, I don’t know how the food tastes here since we ate somewhere else but the beer here is pretty damn good.
And of course in regards to the service… you’ll get it… eventually…
It’s a place definitely worth visiting. Just don’t go there with a chip on your shoulder.

Nice setting on an old street in the Altstadt. They brew their own beer. The type is known as Alt. It’s dark, not as sweet as the dark Bavarian beers, not as stout as a Guiness, and not as good as a Pils or Lager.
The food is adequate. The red cabbage had almost a gelatinous consistency. The Sauerbraten was anything but sour. The waiters were efficient but brusque. Nothing special.

Une des brasseries à absolument tester!!! Elle est réputée pour sa bière (Altbier) qui est vraiment très bonne. Le service est TRèS rapide mais peut-​être un peu trop à mon goût Le serveur prend la commande, encaisse et repart aussitôt. A part ce petit détail, l’endroit est très sympa pour passer un bon moment entre amis.
