Samui Thai

After a convincing argument to come here instead of Rainbow Thai, we came here one night on a whim. There were 10 of us total and 8 of us have never been here. As soon as we walked in, we could see there were only two tables of patrons. There was a lady behind the counter and she said we could be seated. As soon as she said that, a guy came out from the kitchen and asked how many were in our party. When we said 10, he said no after finding out we didn’t have reservations. Are you kidding me? The restaurant is empty??? After himming and hawing he said we could stay. Good grief…
We ordered a ton of food. I’m glad because everything was delicious! The spring rolls were crispy and the stuffing was full of flavor. The chicken satay consisted of three large tender chicken breasts accompanied with a creamy, peanut sauce. My duck curry was SPICY but tasty. You can add spice to it but it can’t be decreased =(. All the other guests enjoyed their meal.
Throughout the night, we ordered beers. It was difficult to get the attention of said waiter. He seemed to have this chip off his shoulder all night… maybe still reeling from us not have reservations. In conclusion, the food was great, prices were fair, but the service from this guy left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I’m afraid to say I won’t be back. It’s not enough to have good food… the ones representing you is equally important. It’s a shame because the waitress was very kind. I truly wanted to love this joiny since we live less than a mile from this place. C’est la vie.
Oh and they don’t have Thai Iced Tea! What the heck?

Very good Thai food. The Panang was excellent and my Thai wife was very happy with the Papaya Salad and Fried Rice.

This is the second time this has happened to me here: I order food to go, am given a time (30 mins) and then when I show up 35 minutes later, I’m told it will be another 20 – 30 minutes because they’re busy. There is one other couple here and they were ordering as I showed up. The food is fine but not great, so definitely not worth it. Never again.

Chicken Penang is really delicious, I was sweating after I was finished. The owner is really nice and helpful with suggestions, since menu is abundant with choices. Make sure to get some chicken spring rolls for an appetizer, they were the bomb! The atmosphere is quite and homie, I’m definitely coming back to this place.

I have been in and out of Thailand many times and today we stopped into Samui Thai in Boblingen for lunch. Well, needless to say, my thirst for Thai food was slaked by this great restaurant. It is a small place. Super friendly staff (speak multiple languages). Great portions. Great spice. This is the real deal. Highly recommended.

I walked in for carry out and was the first person there for lunch. It took about 15 minutes for them to make my food but they were very attentive when I was ordering, making great suggestions. The reason why it took a while for the food to come out is because there was only one person working at the time. Later, a second came out.
The food was great and I will definitely be returning. Only downside is that they didn’t have Thai Ice Tea.

Samui is a small Thai restaurant in a residential neighborhood. It is decorated like an authentic Thailand restaurant, with bamboo on the walls and ceiling and carved wood accents. Although the food was quite tasty, I gave them two stars because of the VERY SLOW service. This really isn’t a place to bring your kids (I wish the couple with three young’uns would have realized this)
I was actually on my way to a different Thai restaurant when I passed this one and decided to give it a try. Parking is scant — you may have to park a few blocks away.

Wir waren das erste Mal im Samui essen, und haben uns dafuer eine Samstag Abend ausgesucht.

Als wir kurz nach 21 Uhr dort ankamen waren wir verbluefft: Wir waren die einzigen Gaeste! Und das sollten wir auch den ganzen Abend ueber bleiben.

Auf uns warteten schon sehnsuechtig ca. 5 Angestellte, die uns sofort einen schoenen Tisch am Kachelofen zuwiesen.

Bedient wurden wir dann abwechselnd von 2 oder 3 Angestellten, die nacheinander unsere Getraenke– und dann die Essensbestellung aufnahmen.

Als wir Rueckfragen zu Gerichten hatten, musste immer bei Kollegen nachgefragt werden, weil es unsere Bedienung nicht wusste.

Ich bestellte ein Gericht mit 2 «Chilies» Schaerfe, meine Begleitung etwas ohne «Chilies» und mit dem Wunsch: «Nur leicht scharf». Beide Gerichte lagen bei ca. 13 EUR
(Notiz am Rande: Wir bekamen 2 unterschiedliche Speisekarten, wohl eine alte und eine neue Ausgabe, mit teilweise leicht unterschiedlichen Preisen.
Lustig: Die «Schaerfe» der Gerichte wurde auf beiden Karten teilweise unterschiedlich angegeben ;-))

Eine Vorspeise wurde uns angeboten, aber erst ca. 2 Minuten nach Aufnahme der Hauptgerichte.

Die Getraenke kamen prompt, leider bekam meine Begleiterin nicht das, was sie bestellt hatte. Ein Umtausch wurde aber sofort durchgefuehrt.

Auch das Essen kam nach sehr kurzer Zeit, wie bereits berichtet auf netten, schiffchenfoermigen Platten.
Das Essen meiner Begleitein war nach unserem europaeischen Geschmack eher «scharf» und nicht «leicht scharf», aber ok, es ist ein Thai Restaurant.

Auf meinem Essen befand sich ein leckerer, roter, kleingeschnittener Chili der dem Gericht die Schaerfe gab, der Rest war nur leicht scharf gewuerzt.

Geschmacklich und von der Kreativitaet waren beide Gerichte ganz ok, aber nichts besonderes.

Der nachbestellte Reis wurde auf der Rechnung mit 2 EUR extra aufgefuehrt, was ich von asiatischen Restaurants sonst nicht gewohnt bin.

Unser Fazit: Es war ganz ok aber nichts besonderes. In dieser Qualitaet gibt es das ueberall und oft sogar guenstiger.

Ein sehr gutes Thai Restaurant das Essen wird frisch gemacht, deshalb dauert es auch ein Moment, was man aber wegen der Qualität verschmerzen kann.
Sehr freundliche Bedienung.

Das Lokal — ein absoluter Geheimtipp, wurde von einer Bekannten empfohlen, diese hat selbst eine Thai als Haushälterin eingestellt und kennt sich daher ebenfalls bestens mit Thaiküche aus.
Wir waren hell begeistert, das Ambiente gemütlich und im Thai Stil, das Essen wirklich Thai, das Personal unglaublich nett und zuvorkommend.
das Lokal können wir also nur weiterempfehlen.
Wir werden in Zukunft auf jeden Fall öfter dort sein.

Dieses alte deutsche Wirtshaus wurde u.a. mit Bambus– und Bast-​Matten thailändisch dekoriert, aber die Theke und Eckbank verraten noch den Vorbesitzer. Im hinteren Bereich kann man an niedrigen Tischen auf Kissen sitzen, direkt am Fenster zum Hof.
Das Essen kann sich durchaus mit anderen asiatischen Lokalen am Ort messen, es gibt abends Essen «a la carte» und mittags ein kleines Buffet: Frühlingsröllchen, Suppe, drei vegetarische Gerichte, fünf Fleischgerichte und als Nachtisch gebackene Bananen. Besonders lecker fand ich das grüné Curry mit Gemüse, das hatte eine spürbare, aber nicht übermäßige Schärfe.
Der Service ist sehr nett! Als ich nur vorsichtig anfragte, ob die Suppe mit Fleisch sei, wurde sofort und ohne, dass ich selbst es verlangt hätte, eine vegetarische Version gekocht.

I am so happy we finally came to Samui. I loved the food and the service was genuinely friendly. Don’t expect to get in and out quickly for dinner, as the pace is low-​key. Instead, go with a mindset of relaxation. I loved the Tom Ka Gai soup, and the owner’s deft ability to sense what «a little spicy» meant! Perfectly seasoned and tingly! :) I love the sunken tables in the back with cushions. The restaurant made me miss Thailand! The flavors brought back great memories. We’ll definitely return!
