On the day I visited the park, there was a little market happening squeezed between the children’s playground and and the grassy part of the park. This market had lots of craft food and I went straight to the cheese seller who told me about how the milk for the cheese was sourced about 100 km south of Berlin and that all the cheeses were made using raw milk cheese, some that is illegal in Australia yet said to be the ingredient to truly exception cheese and this little cheese cellar proved that. I found two cheeses that I had never tasted anything like before and bought a few to take home. These stayed in my bag for the remainder of the day and as the day progressed, I found myself becoming very attractive to dogs who decided the tasty smell of cheese coming from my bag was to be investigated. There was also Polish meats, Belgium waffles, organic fruit and veges and a few craft clothing and bag stores. Definitely a happy surprise to stumble across.

Arkonaplatz has a farmers market every Friday getting their act together about 12.00 p. m. You can buy fresh produces on the place but there is a great open-air grill where you get a grilled whole mackerel, filet even squids. On the other side of the square you can get wine and beer. It’s delicious, unpretentious and worth a visit. After the meal go buy your coffee and Tiramisu from the Italian guy right beside the grill.
