the pizza is never good. tasteless sauce, rubbery cheese. pass
if you want to get any kind of decent portion of meat on your salad, ask for at least a double portion. balsamic dressing is really good and the décor is nice.

Vapianos was fantastic. The pasta was so much saucier and tastier than in Australia. Very clean and easy to eat. Thanks for a great lunch!

Salate sind gut, antipasti auch. Jedoch arbeiten hier im Vapiano mit abstand die unfreundlichsten Menschen von allen! Unglaublich.

I loved this place! We asked a local where we could get the best cheese pizza for our 4 year old and good food for us. The two ladies working behind the counter in the shoppe we were in looked at each other and said in unison, «Vapiano’s!»
Get the Bruschetta while you decide what else to order. It is totally YUM!
My 17 year old ordered the white wine Filet — very, very good. Hubby ordered a shrimp fettuccine Alfredo with spinach — delish! And I went for the bolognasse pastas with the red sauce with meat — wonderful. My 4 year old adored her pizza. We were all delightfully full.
Now, as far as the desserts? Skip those. We didn’t care for them at all.

Ok, but it’s loud, it feels like you are at a factory Cantina, but it’s not that crowded, not relaxed. And what I don’t like is that it’s hard to get the food at the same time, my pizza was ready while my wife was still waiting to get her salad. So eat a cold pizza and wait, or just start, that’s the question

Late at night… looking for some decent food, we found Vapianos. Freshly made Italian food made right in front of you. It does take a little while for them to make it but hey it’s fresh, can’t complain. They even have the pasta in small bags in a refrigerator right behind the cooks. You order what you want and away the cooks go… making the food to your specifications.

Lange Öffnungszeiten, sodass man auch noch zu späterer Stunde für einen guten Preis frisch und lecker speisen kann. Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich und aufmerksam, das Essen finde ich sehr gut und qualitativ für den Preis super. Die Atmosphäre ist locker und nett. Hier kann man einen langen Tag gemütlich ausklingen lassen.

Pizza Funghi hat zwar geschmeckt, der Boden ist trotzdem zu matschig und instabil.
Tagliatelle Gorgonzola waren gut.
Wenn man draußen sitzen kann, ist es wesentlich angenehmer; innen ist es oft laut, stickig und die Akustik stresst.

Vielleicht hatte ich in letzter Zeit nur ein wenig Glück wenn ich da war, aber seit das Vapiano am Alex eröffnet wurde, empfinde ich es hier als wesentlich angenehmer als vorher. Selbst an einem sonnigen Samstag war es nicht überfüllt und man hat draußen noch locker einen Platz gefunden.
Das Vapiano ist halt das Vapiano, die Gerichte sind immer gut aber nicht außergewöhnlich. Jedoch eignen sich die Lokale für spontane Abstecher immer recht gut — zum Lunch, auf einen Kaffee oder auch um die Bar in Anspruch zu nehmen.
Bessere Orte gibt es sicherlich, aber das Vapiano an der Friedrichstraße ist neben dem am Potsdamer mein fave ;-)

Tolles Restaurant mit offenen Kamin und daher einer sehr schönen Atmosphäre, wenngleich natürlich sehr sehr frequentiert.

Wow, where to start…
Ive tried Vapiano Before that time in Stockholm and i cant really understand the Buzz and why these joints seem to get packed with people.
We arrived and where told to try to get a table on the top floor. After some browsing we finally landed a table, yehaaaa!
I went to the bar to order the Bellini out of the drinklist and where told there where no peaches at that time of the year. Ok so i tried another drink, Hugo that they recomended. While one of the barstaff went to get some Prosecco (they where out of Prosecco in the bar) i asked for a couple of glasses of the Shiraz. Bartender told me they where out so i asked for the Shiraz– Cabernet and he told me they didnt have that one either?! What do you got i asked? He replied «Everything» (maybe we had different idea about the meaning of the word) so i tried again with the Cabarnet Sauvignon wich they actaully had in the bar! Another Yehaaa my friends!
After the pre-​food drink it was time to go and stand in line (as you do in school). There is one line for appetizers, one for pasta and one for pizza so you better know what you feel like eating before you start queing. We opted for Pasta and where standing in line for a good 25 min or so before ordering.
I had the fusilli with basil pesto and added chicken wich was about 4 itsy bitsy tiny pieces of chicken so the dish was still like a vegetarian dish in my book…
When we finally got the food it was «ok» but absolutely nothing more. Prices are not high but i would still consider this place low in value as the food is very simple/​basic and nothing special at all.
In 4 days in Berlin eating eveything from german food to asian and burgers, this was by far the worst restaurant visit we had. I would not return.

Keine langen Wartezeiten, gutes Essen, viel Platz und dennoch gemütlich!

Das Vapiano in der Mittelstr. liegt relativ versteckt aber genau an der richtigen Stelle. Zumindest für all jene, die Nahe S-​Bahnhof Friedrichstr. bzw. «Unter den Linden» unterweg sind.
Obwohl es natürlich nach dem üblichen Vapiano-​Konzept funktioniert, hatte ich hier das Gefühl einer gewissen Gemütlichkeit.
Durch die Aufteilung der Zubereitung/​Ausgabe der Essen nach «Salate», «Pizzen und Antipasti» sowie «Pasta» an drei räumlich getrennten Ecken des Restaurants, der abwechselnd sehr bequemen, dennoch funktionalen Möblierung, der Tatsache, dass man treppauf einen ruhigeren Bereich mit Kräutern hinter Glas am Tisch hat und dass unten ein offener Barbereich eingebaut wurde, ergibt sich ein Gefühl von Gemütlichkeit.
Es war auc das erste Vapiano, in dem mich eine Service-​Kraft am Tisch fragte, ob ich etwas zu trinken wünsche. Damit hatte ich in einem Selbstbedienungsrestaurant nicht gerechnet.
Das Essen schmeckte auch sehr gut und dass es frisch zubereitet war, das habe ich ja selbst beobachten können.
Insgesamt eine sehr gute Leistung, die es zu würdigen gilt, ist doch Vapiano vom Konzept her eigentlich ein gehobenes Schnell-​Restaurant. Und dafür kann man es nicht besser als hier machen.
Wohlgesättigt, entspannt und erholt verließ ich das Vapiano und ging zurück an die Arbeit.
Eine klare Empfehlung.

Eigentlich sollte es ein gemütliches gutbürgerliches Restaurant werden, das wir besuchen wollten. Aufgrund einer geschlossenen Veranstaltung müssten wir aber umswitchen und haben uns für das Vapiano entschieden. Das Ambiente war meiner Meinung nach recht ganz gut… abgedunkeltes Licht, moderne Einrichtung und genug Platz für alle. Für mich war das Konzept des Vapiano neu. Der Kellner kommt einmal um die erste Getränkebestellung aufzunehmen und danach muss man selber zur Bar. Das Essen schaut man sich auf einer Karte an… man kann nur zwischen Pizza und Pasta auswählen. Danach muss man mit seiner Bestellung an eine Theke gehen und sie dort aufgeben, sodann erhält man einen Pieper, der sich meldet sobald das bestellte Essen fertig ist. Ich fand diese Art der Bestellung hatte sehr viel vom Essengehen in einer Betriebskantine und wenig Charme. Das bestellte Essen kam dann auch recht zügig. Für meinen Geschmack war die Qualität des Essen allenfalls durchschnittlich. Die Tomatensoße zu der Pasta war kein kulinarisches Highlight und erinnerte an eine Fertigsoße. Die Pizza war in Ordnung aber im Vergleich zu einem echten Italiener auch wieder nur mittlerer Durchschnitt. Die als Vorspeise angebotene Bruschetta war leider total überwürzt und das Brot zu kalt. Positiv anzurechnen waren die Preise, die für die Qualität des Essens angemessen waren. Alles in allem würde ich sagen, dass man — sofern man einen hat — seinem Stammitaliener die Treue halten sollte, bevor man sich entscheidet hier essen zu gehen.

My experience here was quite irritating. We had to wait 40 min in the line to order and get our food. I wouldn’t suggest you go there if you are HUNGRY or go there one hour before you get hungry!!!
My Scampi wasn’t impressive. It had barely 3 shrimps and it was as if I ordered pasta with tomato sauce. My friends scampi with pesto wasn’t impressive either as the pasta was over cooked.

This place was just what I needed as a break from touring. Delicious pizza, which are large enough to share. Wine and beer. Inexpensive prices, Euro40 for 4 of us with 1 drink each. We went here based on Unilocal reviews and we were happy we did. Midday during the week, we waited only a few minutes for our food.

Stand in line for 20 minutes to watch them cook food? No. Just no. It’s a stupid idea and it makes my bile duct rage.
This is the only food place that I have ever walked out of without even ordering food.
To make my stomach stop growling, I tried ordering a beer, guess how that went. The bartender DILUTED IT WITH SELTZER WATER. I watched him do it right in front of me, as if neither my liver nor I would notice.

Mein heutiger allererster Besuch bei Vapiano war eine Riesenenttäuschung! Dass es um die Mittagszeit sehr voll sein würde, hätte ich mir denken können. Sehr laut ist es dadurch natürlich auch, ebenfalls in der offenen Küche, wo 5 Köche herumwirbelten. Qualität und Service sollten darunter allerdings nicht leiden… taten es aber! Fast 10 Minuten Schlangestehen, bis dass man an der Reihe ist und dann weitere gute 5 Minuten zusehen, wie aus wenigen Zutaten hektisch die «Ravioli con Rucola» zusammengerührt werden — das ist für eine durchschnittliche Arbeitnehmer-​Mittagspause sehr viel vergeudete Zeit! Und wofür das lange Warten? Für etwa 10 Ravioli nach völlig phantasielosem Rezept und schnell abgekühlt, das ganze bisschen für 8,50 €! Da kann ich nur hoffen, dass der Koch und ich einen ganz schlechten Tag hatten, denn Vapiano soll doch angeblich so eine Mega-​Erfolgsgeschichte sein… Immerhin hat man an der Kasse ein offenes Ohr für meine Beschwerde gehabt! Und das Angebot, bei Unzufriedenheit das Essen umzutauschen. Und dann wieder über 10 Minuten warten? Gut, dass das Gastronomie-​Angebot rund um die Friedrichstraße so üppig ist und ich künftig leicht ohne Vapiano auskommen werde…

Love the atmosphere! Busy, lively, energetic… Food is yummy, prices ok but more exciting is the feel and ambience for me. At least 4 — 5 locations in Berlin that I know of. Great place to catch up with friends for dinner, dessert, coffee or just a glass of wine.

I happened to arrive in Berlin late and this was one of the few places around my hotel open till later, so I decided to check it out. Having been to the Vapiano in Munich I was expecting a pretty decent experience however, it turned out, not to be so. The saving grace here was the «death by chocolate» dessert at the end and hence, it gets a 3 stars from me.
The ambience of this place is really good. High ceilings like many a Berlin restaurants in the Mitte and, nicely decorated interior and good furniture all around. The ambience is intimate and nice. The card and self service concept seems a little out of place, considering the classy interiors.
I ordered a Pizza Diavolo and it was ready quickly and, looked fantastic. Unfortunately it lacked flavour and the punch I am used to with this pizza. I had to season it and add chilli oil for it to be ok. The base was soggy and wet and, the edges were chewy and rubbery. Not a good pizza in my opinion. My local pizza delivery in Munich serves better pizza than this.
The service was friendly and, the «Death by chocolate» cake slice I had was delicious. I think I would come back here for a drink, cake or coffee. Not sure the food was impressive enough for me to come back for a pizza or other savoury items.

Es waren leckere Pizzen! Mit unter ein wenig dreckig und unaufgeräumt. Hinterm Getränketresen 4 Mitarbeiter aber kaum Bedienung!

Unfriendly service, food was ok but nothing special.
My wife asked the cook (in a nice way!) if they have gnocchi because she wanted to eat something made of potatoes, and he told her in a very cynical and condescending way that «if you want potatoes go to a wirtshaus» (the implication being that she is somewhat of an unwashed peasant trying to order that).
The funny thing is that you can see the ingredients because of the way the restaurant works and he had a bunch of peeled and sliced potatoes at the other end of the counter.
Salats were good but pasta merely ok. Prices are high for Berlin standard but probably not for this particular part of town.

It’s a nice fast food italian place, this branch isn’t as packed as the other Vapianos around Berlin; it is dimly lit and somewhat more cosy, also the lines aren’t as long. It is a good choice for a meal after a long day shopping on Friedrichstraße

Nach meiner Meinung kann man bei Vapiano nichts falsch machen.
Am Anfang sollten sie sich bemühen das System zu erklären, denn nicht jeder kennt Vapiano.
Mit Kinderwagen und Hund kann man auch rein.
Und wenn das Baby mal lauter wird, wirst du auch nicht doof angeschaut.
Das Personal ist mal so mal so, aber mit dem Essen habe
ich noch nie negative Erfahrungen gemacht.
Vor allem freut es mich, dass sie immer frische Kräuter und Gewürze bereit stellen.
Oliven Öl auf den Teller, Balsamiko, Pfeffer und Salz dazu und das Brot hineintunken.
Für den Preis ist er wirklich sehr gut.
Da können sich 90% der Italiener einen Beispiel dran nehmen.

Was mir hier gefällt, ist die bequeme Innenausstattung und riesiger Raum. Man findet immer irgendwohin zu sitzen, die Tische sind schön mit Pflanzen elaboriert, die Fenster lassen viel Licht rein, alles hell und bunt. Das Personal ist auch nett und professionell, sie machen ihre Jobs so schnell wie nötig beim Lunch Crowd gegen 12 – 13 Uhr, dochs geling ihnen auch oft ein Lächeln. Toll auch ist die Auswahl: jede Menge Pastas, Pizzas, und auch Salate, und dazu noch Spezialitäten! Dass das Geschmack der Gerichte weit verbreitet ist finde ich auch gut: nicht nur traditionelle Gerichte wie Marinara oder Pesto, sodern auch was mit Chili-​Coriander, Gorgonzola-​Pistazien-​Sosse, usw.
Was mir nicht so gefällt, sind die Hocker ohne Rücken (was soll schneller Essen machen, vielleicht? Aber bitte!). Und schlimmer, das Essen ist mittelmässig. Der Pizzateig ist einfach weich und unbemerkenswert, auch mit Öl lohnt es sich nicht, ihn zu Essen. Zu wenig Trüffeln auf der Trüffel-​Pizza. Pasta verkochen? Oder bloß von schlechter Konsistenz? Na ja, ich gehe fragelos nochmals hin, das Ganze ist ziemlich gut — lohnt ja drei-​einhalb bis vier Sterne.

Gegenüber anderen Vapiano-​Filialen sehr nette Crew.
Leider hat «mein» Koch jedoch auch hier bei der Flußkrebs-​Pasta die Zuckerschoten anbrennen lassen und die Krebsschwänze zu lange mitgekocht. :-(

Das Vapiano. Heute getestet als Treffpunkt zum Kaffee und Kuchen essen mit Freunden. Meine letzte Erfahrung mit Vapiano war eher enttäuschend und so war ich gespannt was heute passiert.
Vorweg, es ging gut. Die Bedienung war weitestgehend höflich, wobei nach dem Schichtwechsel ein sehr verpeilter und mit Restalkohol gefüllter Student den Kaffee produzierte. (Es war Sonntagnachmittag.)
Der Kaffee hat es mit seinem sehr runden und leckeren Geschmack absolut herausgerissen. Auch der «Hugo» und der Aperol Spritz war gut zubereitet. Vieleicht ein wenig klein. Dazu gabs noch ein Dessert.
Vapiano hat es auf 4 von 5 Sternen geschafft, weil es immernoch defizite im Verhältnis Preis /​Menge gibt. Außerdem sind die Mitarbeiter immernoch eine Glücksgriff, wenn sie funktionieren.

Vapiano est une chaîné de restaurants italiens (italiens dans la mesure où le nom l’est et où on y sert surtout des pâtes et des pizzas ! car les propriétaires sont bien allemands, eux) répandue dans toute l’Allemagne (et ailleurs en Europe, dont quelques-​uns en France), avec un concept un peu compliqué, à mi-​chemin entre le restaurant traditionnel et le fast-​food.
On reçoit à l’entrée une carte magnétique et on se dirige vers les différents stands de cuisine, pour les pâtes, les pizzas, les desserts… suivant son ou ses choix. On fait la queue au stand, comme chez McDo, avant de demander, attendre et obtenir son plat, mais au lieu de payer directement, l’achat est enregistré sur la carte magnétique. On va ensuite s’asseoir pour manger et on peut répéter le manège autant de fois qu’on veut… Ce n’est qu’à la sortie, quand on rend la carte, qu’on paie en une fois pour l’ensemble du repas. Inhabituel mais pas idiot finalement car plus cool que le restaurant avec service à la place, et plus flexible que le fast-​food traditionnel.
Pizzas et pâtes sont préparées à la demande. Alors bien sûr ça reste du fast-​food, mais il faut avouer que ce n’est pas mauvais du tout, les pâtes sont bien cuites (ça semble basique mais une autre chaîné qui sévit à Berlin avec un concept voisin n’arrive pas à livrer des pâtes correctes, un comble) et les pizzas sont correctes, malgré l’insupportable mode allemande de couvrir entièrement ces dernières avec des feuilles de roquette (j’ai commandé une pizza, pas une salade verte dans un saladier en pâte à pizza…).
Au final, on s’en tire au prix d’un restaurant italien traditionnel, pour une nourriture pas forcément plus mauvaise… et on a mauvaise conscience d’avoir déjeuné dans une usine à bouffe au lieu d’avoir soutenu un petit artisan. Mais c’est pratique, rapide et bien fait, alors…

Zur Mittagszeit wird es hier recht schnell voll und es kann passieren, dass man mit seinem Essen dann einfach mitten im Raum steht und keinen Platz mehr findet, daher die Rush Hour am besten meiden. Die Laune der Mittarbeiter schwankt dann auch dementsprechend Aber im Großen und Ganzen wie in allen anderen Vapiano Locations auch Essen ist lecker, italienisch und es gibt sogar neue Sommer-​Gerichte =)

Yummy pasta, pizza and deserts. The only problem was that ppl have to stand in line and wait for their pasta for more than 10 mins… Otherwise, the atmosphere is great, the food is yummy, and watching how chefs cook pasta in front of you is really cool!

I found this place through Unilocal and decided to give it a try. The reviews were true to their word. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. You do have to stand to wait while the food is prepared — so if that will bother you, do not go during the dinner rush. I will definitely go back.

Frisch zubereitete Pasta und Salat (auch Pizza), alles lecker im Geschmack. Preise sind moderat, Einrichtung ist modern.
Ausnahmsweise dieses mal ohne Wartezeit am Tresen an diesem Dienstag Abend.

This place has a nice vibe. Interior is pretty nice, dimly lit with lights at each table. They also have outside heating in the little interior courtyard. Friendly staff nice place to hang out and grab a bite. When you enter they give you a card then you can grab what you want at each station (they have a station for pizza pasta, salads etc) they also have a full bar. At each station you order you give them the card and then when you exit you give the card to the cashier and pay.
Food is really good and made with fresh ingredients. Prices are pretty resonable. Very nice find in a touristy area.

The Vapiano has a pleasant, modern and simply good atmosphere. The food is prepared with fresh ingredients in front of the eyes of guests. I like to go to Vapiano for dinner!

Man weiß, was man bekommt. Keine tolle italienische Pasta, aber durchschnittlich. Die Location ist etwas verwinkelt, bietet aber viele Plätze für das hungrige Volk an.
Ich persönlich sehe meinen Vorteil im Vapiano immer darin, zu wissen was man nimmt und je nach schlangenlänge schnell bedient zu werden. ABER wenn man 25 min auf sein Essen warten muss, obwohl nur 4 Leute vor einem sind und der Clown mit Schürze am Kochpult dann auch noch meint, einen zu Duzen, sehe ich auch keine Daseinsberechtigung mehr für diesen Laden.

Friendly staff, and yummy yummy pasta. I would have given 5 stars, if you would not have to stand up for almost 10 minutes, waiting for your food… why not use something stupid but useful, liking waiting numbers or so, guys?

Als Berlin-​Besucher stolpert man in so allerlei «Touristenfallen» wenn man vom Brandenburger Tor aus einen Spaziergang unternimmt.
Da ist das Vapiano, welches durch eine Passage direkt von «Unter den Linden» aus zu erreichen ist, eine dankbare Location. Denn hier bekommen Freunde von Pizza und insbesondere Pasta die gewohnte Vapiano Qualität (Restaurant-​Kette) in einer Top Lage zu den bekannten Preisen, die durchaus fair sind.
In Spitzenzeiten steht man zwar etwas länger an, aber das Warten lohnt sich hier meist! Die selbst gemachten Nudeln und die frische Zubereitung find ich immer wieder lecker.

Zu Vapiano musst man nicht viel zu sagen. Dort sollte man unbedingt mal gewesen sein.
Mir persönlich schmecken hier die Pasta besser als die Pizzen.

Toiletten brauchen mehr Liebe. Leider dreckig. Essen ok. Service ok.

Das schönste Vapiano in Berlin! Das Panna Cotta bildet den perfekten Abschluss zu Pizza und Pasta! Tolle Lage, immer für einen Abstecher gut!

This place is a hidden wonderment. Its amazing. For its location you’d expect that it would be bad. [Near the touristy section of Unter Der Linden]. Its not. its amazing. The atmosphere [upper floor, bar area, main dinning area, and outside] are clean and attractive. They have a very usable card system. [Charlotte fails at this] The POS they use to punch in the order is right infront of the person at height level. To confirm your order you put the card infront of you.
The food is well cooked, and is delicious.
The only downside to this place is the lines.
Another benefit. They accept non-​chipped Visa cards. [Apparently its getting difficult to use a visa card in berlin these days] Also, the after dinner treat is gummy bears. This is odd but hey I’m not complaining.
