absolut überbewertet. bier viel zu teuer und das essen war mehr als enttäuschend.

Netter Biergarten in guter Lage. Hier kann man auf jeden Fall mal auf ein, zwei Bierchen und né Grillwurst bleiben. Ich habe zwischen 3 und 4 Sterne geschwankt und mich zunächst für die 3 entschieden. Ich werde noch mal wiederkommen und die Bewertung dann ggf. noch mal verändern.

DER biergarten schlechthin! always a must-​go!

Eintönige Speisekarte mit Imbiss-​Charakter und recht teuer. Allerdings sehr angenehmes Flair: Weiträumiger Biergarten mit vielen Sitzmöglichkeiten und viel Grün inmitten der Stadt.

Toller Biergarten im Prenzl. Berg. Self-​Service, gut besucht, viele Plätze. Ein Besuch lohnt sich, Tram hält vor der Tür.

C’est le plus ancien biergarten de Berlin, alors s’y rendre c’est un peu un pèlerinage. Immense (+ de 600 places), le Prater (noster) est ce qu’il y a de plus agréable pour boire une petite bière (façon de parler) à l’ombré (s’il fait jour) de ses grands arbres tout en mangeant un petit snack, bon il y a aussi un resto, mais il né donne pas envie en plus d’être cher, ce qui n’est pas le cas de la bière et des snack sus cités, et comme cette phrase commence à être longue, j’y mets un terme, point. Respire et hop on repart.
Situé sur la Kastanienallee, graaaaannnde rue de Prenzlauerberg, un quartier un peu beaucoup bobo (c’est à Berlin que j’ai appris le mot «gentrification» mais tu t’en b*anle), tu pourras donc déguster ein gross bier (ceci n’est pas un façon de parler), manger une wurst à 2 € entouré de bobos (j’avais prévenu), de petites familles du coin, de touristes, d’étudiants et il y a de fortes chances, d’easy jet setters. Si le portrait dressé né te donne pas envie, c’est pas grave, c’est moi qui décide, tu y vas, tu honore l’endroit et tu souris s’il te plaît !

They have a proper german beer and great german atmosphere. I wanted to try food, but it was crowded and only places and the bar were available. Next time!

This was a very fun place. It was wet out so we sat inside. There was plenty of room but I could see as big as the bier garten was, that it probably gets pretty crazy here. We will have to return again.
The food was great. We had the meatloaf, the goulash, the wiener schnitzel and the potato soup as well as a lot of beer.
I found a great German red wine, 2012 Spätburgunder trocken, QbA, Axel Neiss, Pfalz (a German Pinot) that was lovely. I wish I could find it elsewhere.

A must visit in Berlin!
I think it’s one of the oldest beer gardens around and largest. It’s great for a nice sunny day but there is also a restaurant inside if it’s cold or late at night.
Order the Beef and potatoes and Pilsner!

The atmosphere in summer is nice– beer is good but the food is not really to recommend. Nothing special and quite expensive. Good to meet friends– lots of space and a very convenient location in the middle of Kastanienallee.

We had a great meal and enjoyed the beer garden atmosphere!

Schöner Biergarten, allerdings viele Touristen und der Wein schmeckt nicht

Angenehme Großgaststätte mit Flair. Sehr schön gemacht im Stil der 20er. Leider etwas zu laut. Im Sommer kann man auf der Trasse sitzen, doch dann ist es besser im Selbstbedienungs-​Biergarten nebenan vom selben Betreiber.

A nice tucked-​away beer garden in the north part of Berlin, very spacious and relaxing. Nice big trees and off the street, so you can just chill out and watch the people. I was there on a nice warm Sunday afternoon, noticed many Americans there with their kids (ex-​pats, I think). I’d recommend bringing the whole family. Beers were around € 3.20 for the larger pilsners. I’ll go back the next time I go to Berlin!

Sehr authentischer Biergarten unter Kastanien so wie es sich gehört. Im Sommer immer schön und immer gut gefüllt, aber da es genug Bänke gibt, kann man immer ein freies Plätzchen erhaschen…
Die Preise für die bayerischen Speisen sind ein bisschen hoch, aber es schmeckt und geht selbst bei vielen Besuchern schnell. Bei Speisen und Getränken ist self-​Service, was die nervigen Blicke von Kellnern reduziert, wenn man einfach nur mal ein Bier möchte und trotzdem bisschen länger sitzt.
Das einzige Mancko ist der hohe Touristenanteil

I came to Prater Garten at the suggestion of a friend on where a group of 50 or so new friends could meet up. The place filled our needs, though the staff wasn’t too happy with someone in our group playing music. Honestly, I understand where they’re coming from, but a group of drunk people are definitely not as loug as 50 drunk people. That aside, we had a nice enough time.

Früher war der Prater ein echt cooles und günstiges Biergarten-​Lokal, als die Umgebung dort noch ein Berliner Szene-​Kiez war. Bis ca. 2005 konnte man hier noch feiern und eine Menge Spaß haben. Dann wurde der Kiez und die Menschen dort eine andere Welt.
Auch der Prater veränderte sich und mir wurde die Locations irgendwie zu spießig. Die Urberliner verschwanden und es kamen die Touristen und Neuberliner. Aus meiner Sicht ist vom ehemaligen Prater wenig übrig geblieben. Ick halt ma fern da!

Toller schattiger Biergarten — für heiße Tage sehr gut. Das Bier könnte kälter und das Personal etwas flinker sein. Wenn schon Selbstbedienung, dann bitte mit kürzeren Warteschlangen.

Bekannt, bewährt, gut. Freundliches Personal und perfekte Lage. Ideal, um einen warmen Sommerabend zu beenden.

Ist okay hier. Bier ist nicht der Hit, aber in Ordnung. Allerdings sind die Preise nicht günstig. 3,50 für 0,4 und 4 € für 0,5. Da gibt es andernorts günstigeres Bier, höherer Qualität, welches selbst gebraut ist. Auch das Essen ist mit 3,50 für die Bratwurst eher teuer. Allerdings ist es hier zumeist gut besucht, was weniger an der Qualität als an der Lage liegt. Ich gehe lieber woanders hin.

This was a great beer garden with their own brew. It is a large beer garden with a ton of benches to find seating. This place was recommended in many travel books and listed as the oldest beer garden in Berlin. I would highly recommend going as our experience was wonderful. The food and and beer were really good. We went toward the fall so we had the experience of dodging chestnuts falling from the trees and we sat there. It was kind of funny rather than anything.

A Berlin institution, the Prater Biergarten is a casual, down-​to-​earth outdoor beer garden located in Prenzlauer Berg. This place has been around forever and it’s great to see that amongst all the changes in the neighborhood this place just keeps going. It’s more of a summer thing (who wants to sit in a beer garden with 20 °F out) but they also have a regular restaurant with inside seating (great German food!) for those days when it gets chilly.
You’ll find people from all walks of life here — the 20 something Italian exchange students, a chatty group of East Berlin female office workers, the three young British tourists, the Berlin hipster couple, grandma and grandpa stopping by on a bike trip, or people like me and my high school buddy who want to catch up.
Simple German food (bratwurst!) and beer (try the classic Berliner Weisse mit Schuss) for decent prices — a must-​go!

A delightful Biergarten — a friend recommended this place to us as the «authentic Biergarten experience»! The beer and the food were good. I thought the food could’ve been cheaper, but I can only compare to 1 other places we went to. The woman at the food stand was nice. People of all ages were happily drinking and chatting around us; a fair amount of them were tourists from all over. I had a Radler-​fueled glimpse of paradise for a moment.

Came here from a recommendation by my host and by a few travel books, and there is no understating that this is a Berlin Landmark. Likewise, there is no understatement when I say that this is like the Disneyland of biergartens. It’s near magical in scale and atmosphere. Appearing to be nestled in the middle of a forest, this bier garten is MASSIVE, with seating that seems like it could fit almost 1000 people, and with conversation flowing that makes it seem like there’s a party all the time.
It’s a great atmosphere when you can see locals and tourists alike, of all nationalities, mingling, talking, and kicking back some brews and delicious german snacks. The traditional german fare includes a variety of different sausages, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, sauerkraut, among other things, and generally everything runs between 2 – 5 euro, while beer is a little expensive at around 3.5−4 euro a pop. That said, the food is really quite good and this is a place where it’s almost impossible not to have a good time. How could you not when you’re surrounding by clinking mugs, savory bratwursts, picturesque foliage, and the sound of Germans, Italians, Americans, Turks and damn near all types of people trading stories and enjoying the simple things in life.

Obwohl er nicht am Wasser oder in einem Park ist, ist das einer meiner liebsten Biergärten. Hier ist immer was los, die Leute sind gut drauf und die Preise für Speisen und Getränke sind bezahlbar. Ich gehe hier immer her, wenn ich im Sommer internationale Gäste in Berlin unterhalten möchte. Lässt sich schließlich auch stets gut mit einem Besuch im Mauerpark kombinieren.

Great place to go with friends! I spent a few days in Berlin during a Europe trip, and we were told to check this place out for an authentic beer garden — I could not have been happier with the experience. Typical food — bratwurst, potato salad, meatloaf, etc. and a wide range of beer options. We all definitely enjoyed trying some German specialities!
We went on a Saturday and the place wasn’t terribly busy, probably because it’s very open and has a lot of space. Definitely would recommend, especially for any tourists wanting a great beer garden experience!

Wie in guten Restaurants üblich, gab es im Prater Restaurant bisher immer Brot mit Kräuterquark vorab, um die Wartezeit aufs Hauptgericht zu überbrücken. Wie mir die Kellnerin heute sagte, ist das abgeschafft worden. Man bekommt es nur, wenn man danach fragt. Du liebe Zeit — so ein Brot gibts doch mittlerweile in jedem Vorstadt-​restaurant, und Prater schafft es ab? Es geht weiter bergab im Service, und wenn das gleichbleibend gute (aber auch teure) Essen nicht wäre, hätte man gar keinen Grund, überhaupt noch ins Prater Restaurant zu gehen.

GREAT place to go with friends. So much place to sit, great food and their pretzels are AMAZING!!! Seriously good beer, too. One of the best biergartens I have been to in Berlin. Really recommend to bring friends here and bring your own food or snacks if you don’t want to buy stuff there.

It’s been years since I’ve been to a proper beer garden (downsides of living in Glasgow) and so this one was just perfect. We had been at Mauerpark which is about a 10 minute walk away and headed here for more drinks. It’s easy to find off Kastanienallee with a massive sign so you shouldn’t be able to miss it.
It wasn’t as busy as I expected for a sunny weekend and there were heaps of seats. I don’t think there was table service — you just headed up to the bar to order. We got beer, wine and pretzels and enjoyed the sunshine. It’s very family friendly and it was so nice just to be able to chill outside. There are nice loos too with an attendant. Did the place used to have a swimming pool? It seems like it from the diving boards but maybe we just got confused!
There’s also a restaurant — we just had pretzels which were great, apparently the restaurant isn’t worth trying out. All up, this place was super cool and I’d definitely recommend visiting on a nice day.

Biergartenflair mitten im Berliner Prenzlauer Berg.
Wer gegrilltes oder Bier, im Idealfall sogar beides gleichzeitig mag ist hier genau richtig. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an alkoholfreien oder alkoholischen Getränken. Auch die angebotenen Speisen lassen keine Wünsche offen. Bratwurst, Wurstsalat, Ofenkartoffel oder nur Oliven? Hier gibt es alles und zwar sehr lecker und zu gar nicht mal so viel Geld.
Gegen 22Uhr wird dort das Licht aufgedreht, aber das ist doch dann auch genau die richtige Zeit um weiter zu ziehen.
Perfekt für Frischluftfanatiker und Bierliebhaber an einem lauen Sommerabend.

Ein riesiger Biergarten mitten in Berlin. Bei gutem Wetter ist es hier grün, laut und dennoch entspannt. Denn trotz der Vielzahl an Gästen findet sich immer eine leere Bierbank, die man für sich alleine hat.
Am Eingang stand ein entnervter junger Mann, der die Leute unfreundlich darauf aufmerksam machte, dass sie keine Getränke von draußen mit rein nehmen dürften. Kein Problem. Mit einem Informationsschild hätte sich dies sicherlich schon im Vorfeld umgehen lassen können und der junge Mann wäre nicht in die Situation geraten, ständig das gleiche wiederholen zu müssen.
Aufgrund des Bekanntheitsgrades und der Popularität kann man es sich im Prater leisten, gehobene Preise zu verlangen. 3,50 € für 0,4l Pils ist noch ok, gibt es in anderen Teilen von Prenzlauer Berg aber günstiger. Die Bierauswahl kann sich jedoch sehen lassen: Prater Pils, Altbier, Weizen und natürlich Berliner Weiße. Das Essen ist ok, haut einen aber auch nicht um. Bratwurst mit Nudelsalat schmeckten etwas fad.
Alles in allem ist der Prater ein Ort, den man definitiv auch in einer großen Gruppe entspannt besuchen kann.

Yes to the food. Yes to the beer. I love the vibe of this place and how there’s a ton of room but not ever too empty. Go here if you want a pretzel or some berlin weisse with no judgement :)

Ah le Prater, un petit coin de Paradis en plein milieu de Prenzlauer Berg… L’espace est immense (plus de 600 places!), la bière sympa, la bouffe extra (des saucisses, des bretzels, des patates!). On peut regretter le peu de tables protégées s’il se met à pleuvoir, mais bon, c’est le jeu !
S’il fait un peu froid ou que vous voulez plus vous attabler, la partie resto vaut aussi le détour, avec des plats entre 10 et 18 euros dans des portions assez inhumaines pour le frêle français que je suis.
Une adresse incontournable de la ville !

Gutgefüllter Biergarten, lockere Atmosphäre und freundliche schnelle Bedienung.
An den ersten warmen Sonnentagen habe ich mich mit einigen Kollegen getroffen und schön meine kühlen Getränke genossen. Der Preis für ein Glas 0,4l Bier liegt bei etwas 3 Euro, die anderen Getränke fallen in den gleichen Rahmen. Es gibt viele Sitzplätze und Kleinigkeiten zum Snacken bekommt man auch (habe ich allerdings noch nicht in Anspruch genommen).
Der Prater Garten macht auf mich einen gemütlichen Eindruck und dank seiner zentralen Lage (Eberswalder Str.) komme ich an den nächsten Sonnentagen sicherlich gerne her.

This place is a classic find: great atmosphere, kind staff, delicious schnitzel (light, crisp, melts in your mouth) and cold beer. They only take cash, so make sure you have some!
Unfortunately, it was chilly outside when we were there, so we didn’t get to enjoy what I think is a lovely outdoor seating section.
You will not be disappointed by this very German taste experience!

My very FIRST biergarten experience!
I enchanced my beer chugging skills at Prater Garten. In atypical, glorious Berlin sunshine, I was holding my half a liter Prater Pils grinning ear to ear like some tourist who just stumbled on the best find ever!
Super casual, buzzing with a friendly crowd and lots of Euro languages being thrown about (of course, we had to sit right NEXT to the Italians!), everyone here just had a good time. The yellow communal seating were very inviting underneath the shade of the Chestnut trees, the bathrooms were clean and ordering at the window is fast and easy. Bring your family, your friends, invite your Tinder date (yup! he showed up and she was googly-​gaga over him!) or was it just the beer buzz? either way, FUN times in Berlin!

This review is truly a mish mash of good and bad. Just so you know, the Prater Garten is the area that is inside that serves sit-​down food and dinner, the bier garden is outside on tables and benches, where you walk up, buy a beer, maybe a pretzel or something and then sit down and drink. The experiences in both places are different, regardless of what Garten in Germany you go to.
With that out of the way the hall is grand and inviting, with lots of wood and long tables and merry atmosphere that isn’t kitschy or corny. I expected a lengthy food night, but the food items when you think about it shouldn’t take long to prepare.
Service though was lousy. Waited forever for everything, and it turned out the excuse was that the waitress didn’t know they were suppose to serve our section, so the hostess took over. really?
40 minutes later, a 2 person couple (locals) sits at the table next to us and is served drinks and food before us in less than 15 minutes.
While I was not in a rush, and was enjoying the brews (definitely get the house made pils and/​or dunkel), it would have been nice not to wait, and constantly ask the people serving us if the food was coming, which we had to do twice.

But the food is excellent. Schnitzel is bready, and fluffy, with a tender piece of veal, and lots of it. The meatballs are delicate and melt in your mouth, and the dumplings are unreal, with a chewy starchy texture that you just want to order more of them.
The bier garden outside at night is really nice, hanging lamps, old school charm in the city old centre. Beer selection though I discovered in Berlin at places though is really basic with not that much variety, but definitely go for the house beers. The Dunkel is a particularly well done example that even has smokey character to it reminding me a little bit like a rauchbier.
Other than that it’s great, but you will roll the dice if you come here to dine.

This is exactly what I imagined a local beer garden to look like. Our family’s tour guide mentioned that this place was a bit hidden and less touristy with very good beer and sausage. Although reading some of the reviews, it seems like the word’s already out!
When we went, there were not a lot of people and everyone looked like a local. If you can imagine, we were a big group of 13 Asians so we did get some stares. But perhaps they were apprehensive about tourists invading their privacy!

There are two «ordering» areas — one for beer and the other for food. The beer lady was super helpful and nice and recommended this local, Berlin drink (green color and red color… it was almost a syrupy thing) — and then you pour it with beer. She mentioned that it was very «Berlin» so of course we had to try it. It was SOOOO delicious and refreshing that I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who comes here.
The food items were quite varied and the sausages are not what I think North Americans are used too. Here, it’s a tiny bun with a longgggg sausage vs. our idea of equal length bun to meat ratio. Nonetheless, we tried the whole gamut of Polish, Regular, Spicy sausage and of course sine one is in Germany, we also had the Sauerkraut.
Now some useful tips, but I forgot the beer brand that you need to do this. My tour guide said that if you order this kind of beer, you have to cheers with the bottoms of your glass — its just done this way.
Also, VERY IMPORTANT, you need to look at the person’s eyes when clinking your glasses, otherwise, you will have bad sex for 7 years. Damn it, I was looking at the menu because it was so good and I wanted more food, so I guess…

Mein erstes Mal Biergarten im Berlin!
Schönes Ambiente unter Kastanienbäumen, viel Platz und der blitzschnelle Service haben mich überzeugt!

4* pour le plus vieux Biergarten de Berlin (1837) ! Ambiance sympa, mais il y a foule ! Serveuse un peu conne et carrément de mauvaise foi (haaaa mais tu veux de l’eau dans ta bière? je lui demandais un verre de chaque) bref, sympa pour l’ambiance qui fait très famille (gamins courant autour des tables) et sympa aussi les vieux arbres qui font oublier la ville.

Richtig ist: Es ist für Berliner Verhältnisse sehr teuer geworden. Auch richtig ist, dass es dort immer eine gute MIschung von Berlinern, Schwaben, Polit und TV-​Promis gibt, die sich einfach dort treffen. Ich mag es am liebsten im Winter, wenn die Touris zumeist nicht da sind. Das Restaurant ist gut. Mein favorite: Senfeier. Hauptgerichte sind jedoch ein wenig zu teuer für die location. Sehr gut ist, dass im Restaurant keine Musik gedudelt wird. Die Bedieung, die ich immer wieder treffe — alle paar Monate oder Jahre — erkennt mich jedes Mal wieder und wir haben einen kleinen Schnack. (so eine dunkle, kleinere — sehr nett!). Alles in allem 4 Sterne, da die Hochpreispolitik abgestraft gehört, es abber grundsätzlich ein guter Laden ist.

Depuis la rue, en voyant les lampions et tables en bois, on s’attendrait à un truc un peu populo qui sent la saucisse (ambiance fête de la bière dans ses pires moments). Et bien, bonne suprise ! D’un côté, le comptoir avec d’excellentes bières au prix moyen berlinois, de l’autre celui pour les saucisses, salades, etc Des vieux, des enfants qui courent partout, des jeunes, touristes, expat’, habitués, bref tout un petit monde au Biegarten. Un lien agréable et convivial.

On est habitués aux espaces gigantesques en plein centre-​ville ici, mais jamais je n’aurais imaginé en trouver un aussi gros dans la Kastanienallee!
Superbe Biergarten où on s’installe à 19h pour prendre l’apéro et on s’étonne de faire la fermeture 5h après. Le point de rendez-​vous incontournable, où même deux personnes qui se détestent vont se retrouver par hasard et vont réussir à se supporter, l’ambiance aidant.
Bière très bonne (brassée ici je crois), et on peut y manger aussi tout ce que l’Allemagne offre en saucisses, patates de rue et autres Leberkäse Par contre je me suis fait avoir par la dunkelbier, qui est plus de la Guiness que de la hefedunkel.
