Musashi

Ok sushi, very basic and overrated. Very nice staff though

Ich war leider sehr enttäuscht (genau wie der Rest der Gruppe). Wir wollten alle schon ewig ins Musashi aufgrund der guten Bewertungen und haben es nun diese Woche leider endlich mal zum Lunch geschafft. Leider, weil das Sushi war dann doch nicht so gut, wie hier beschrieben. Etwas zu klein, nicht ganz so frisch und die Auswahl auch eher mau. Vor allem die Jungs, die sich für ein Menü entschieden haben, haben den anderen jeden einzelnen Krümel vom Teller geklaut oder sich erbettelt, weil sie nicht satt geworden sind. Preis-​Leistung, trotz der relativ günstigen Preise also schlecht. Die Bedienung war freundlich und das Essen kam trotz vollem Laden relativ schnell (für Sushi). Ich kann den Hype nicht nachvollziehen und muss sagen, dass ich zu ähnlichen Preisen (auch dort in der Nähe) schon besseres Sushi in einer besseren Atmosphäre hatte.

We went to Musashi on a monday evening. The place is small but when we arrived (around 21h) all the tables inside were still free.
The restaurant looks exactly like a sushi shop you could enter in a small street of Tokyo. And don’t be afraid, the waitress isn’t unfriendly. I think she is just efficient and tries to act quickly.
You can order every sushis by piece (and there is a lot of choice), or choose a «set». (see the picture with the drawings).
We choosed the Party Set and shared it between us two. It came quickly and served with a generous amount of marinated-​ginger.
The rice was ok but the fishes were really great and tasty. The Party Set was more than enough for two.
When we left (around 22h), the place became quite crowded so I would recommend coming quite early.

ob es das Beste Sushi der Stadt ist wage ich zu bezweifeln. Also der Fisch ist schonmal tiefgefroren. Ja gut richtig frischen Fisch in Sushi-​Qualität ist natürlich auch teuer, dann müsste die Speisekarte auch angehoben werden. Ich war gestern mit einer Freundin dort, die lange in Japan gelebt hat und die fand es sehr unjapanisch.
Nett und sympatisch ist der Laden tatsächlich. Trotzdem verstehe ich den ganzen Hype um den Laden nicht.

Nothing special. Don’t know why some people rate it that high. We got the big plate. Even the sushi itself didn’t look that professional. Taste was ok. You can eat it. But for sure its over rated in here.

Nach den sehr positiven Kommentaren leider enttäuschend. Die einzelnen Sushi waren leider nichts besonders, wirkten teilweise ungarisch und vor allem die Maki waren ziemlich klein geraten. Deswegen leider auch nicht als wirklich günstig anzusehen, im Nachhinein hätten wir wohl einen der all you can eat besuchen sollen.
Tipp: statt der Party Platte lieber mehrere der kleinen Teller nehmen, da hat man in Summe mehr vom Geld.

Authentischer Japaner in kreuzberg, der ganz okayes Sushi hat. Wohl mit das Beste in Berlin, aber das Problem bleibt halt, d ass man zu billigen Kreuzbergpreisen kein exzellentes Sushi herstellen kann und Frischfisch ohnehin schlecht ist in Berlin. Woher stammen denn die Garnelen, sicherlich aus ekelhafter Aquakultur in Thailand oder Vietnam. Ebenso wie der Lachs eben aus den billigsten Aquakuklturen in Osteuropa stammen wird und nicht aus Norwegen oder Schottland. Aber wenn man etwas bewusst Sushi isst (es gibt ja auch sehr guten Thunfisch und Rettisch, Avocado), bekommt man hier auch ein gutes Mahl.

Toller Laden, der leider klein und daher öfters überfüllt ist, aber das Sushi schmeckt einfach klasse — ich kann nie genug bekommen — und der Service ist freundlich:)

My companion took me here, as she lives right across the street from this place. So after seeing a dance performance, we went here. It was relatively crowded, even though it was already after 9 PM. However, we were lucky to find two spots open in the otherwise very small and cramped location.
We both ordered the Angebot 3, which is a set containing miso soup, 6 pieces of maki sushi with tuna, and 2 pieces of sake nigiri. All of that was just 6,50 EUR.
This isn’t a fancy-​schmancy place. I’d go to Ishin for that. However, the miso soup was still good, and the fish is fresh and above average. That being said, this is a place I recommend more for a quick and cheap sushi fix, not for a real sushi experience. I’d rather eat my sushi sitting down in a more comfortable chair (as opposed to a tall bar stool), slowly savoring the flavors that explode in one’s mouth. Here, as much as the fish is good, I think I wouldn’t want to linger and stay here for more than 20 minutes.
Good for a quick and cheap sushi fix. Otherwise go somewhere else.

Das unfassbar leckerstes Sushi der Stadt!

Wir sind immer wieder sehr gern im Musashi. Vor allem die Suppen sind super! Die sauer-​scharfe Pekingsuppe ist die leckerste, die ich jemals irgendwo gegessen habe.
Das Sushi ist gut.
Der Abzug ist für die gebratenen Nudeln, die ich da letztens gegessen hatte. Ich hatte vegetarisch bestellt und es war eine Menge Hühnerfleisch drin. Außerdem fand ich die Nudeln sehr un-​würzig.
Die Bedienung ist immer nett und schnell. Die Getränkekarte ist absolut ausreichend. Besonders der Calpis sollte probiert werden!

Einfach nur klasse! Sehr kleiner Laden und oft hoffnungslos überfüllt, aber trotzdem sehr netter Service und ausgezeichnetes Sushi zu einen mehr als fairen Preis. Wir kommen gerne wieder…

The sushi was ok. I was not sure about the authenticity tho as the people working there seemed to speak Vietnamese.

Very small restaurant with one of the best Sushis I ate in my life. The rice is very good and they have a good share of Vegan options, like Natto which is really tasty.

Nicht der beste Sushi-​Laden in der Stadt, aber verdammt nah dran!

Hier gibt es das beste Sushi der Stadt von echten Japanern! Auf der Speisekarte steht fast ausschließlich Sushi und ansonsten japanisches Essen. Der Service ist immer schnell und die asiatische Höflichkeit kommt nie zu kurz. Der kleine Laden besteht seit zwei Jahrzehnten ungefähr und die Einrichtung ist unverändert, obwohl die Fassade inzwischen vom Hotel verschönt wurde.
Wer es nicht besser weiß, der läuft hier vorbei. Die Kenner bestellen vor und holen ab, die Liebhaber quetschen sich in dem winzigen Areal und warten gerne, denn hier wird immer schnell ein Platz frei.
Unschlagbar ist die Partyplatte für 30,-EUR, wo auch gerne mal das eine oder andere Nigiri getauscht werden kann. Schafft man geradeso zu zweit. Die Getränkepreise sind spitze. Empfehlenswert sind auch die Misosuppe und die gesalzenen Sojabohnen, unmöglich aber vor einer Partyplatte. Das Essen ist durchweg erstklassig wir hoffen, dieser Laden bleibt uns noch lange erhalten!

Immer noch toll der Laden. Sehr zu empfehlen die Saba Sashimi und Harasu. Die bekommt man nicht so schnell woanders. Unglaublich günstig bei der Qualität und die Betreiber haben sich trotz der Touriwelle über die Jahre nicht geändert. Hut ab.

Tiny, tiny restaurant, but not bad! I’m no sushi connoisseur, but from what I could tell, the sushi was pretty decent.
The two of us split a sushi plate for 15 euros, and then we got an extra «gegrillte Lachs-​Maki» (grilled salmon rolls, 3 euros) on top of that because we were particularly hungry. Tea was 50 cents!

Dass ausgerechnet Neukölln Vorreiter beim Sushiboom war…

das sushi schmeckt gut, wobei mir ein bisschen die ausgefalleneren kreationen fehlen. ist aber wohl auch nicht der anspruch des ladens.
meiner meinung nach etwas überteuert, für das, was man bekommt. netter service, gerade in anbetracht des grossen andranges.
alles in allem gerade noch 4 sterne.

Ich wohne nicht in Berlin gehe aber seit 10 Jahren ins Musashi, wann immer ich in der Stadt bin. So gutes Sushi findet man in Deutschland selten. Sehr selten. Unbedingt ausprobieren!

Très bon restaurant japonais. Poisson ultra frais, prix abordable. Par contre le lieu n’est pas très grand, de préférence y aller par beau temps pour avoir des places en terrasse.

Not too sure about this place. My boyfriend and I went on a rainy, bitterly cold Berlin afternoon (June 26^th) to try out the food. We live nearby, and it’s ALWAYS crowded whenever we walk by. Thankfully, the place was nearly empty but filled up by the time we were done.
We both ordered the chicken katsu with extra sauce and a bowl of the wonton soup to share (I know; not very Japanese but whatevs).
The soup was DELICIOUS. Hearty, full of flavor and the dumplings were delicious.
The katsu, meh. The rice was a little mushy and not really sticky. The katsu seemed like the jarred kind you can find in any Japantown in the United States.
All in all, I’d return to try the tempura and definitely the soup again, but I think there are better spots in the hood.
Also, Japanese food in Germany seems a little sketch, amiright???

Es gibt ja nun wirklich viele Sushirestaurants in Berlin, aber nur wenige, bei denen die Qualität wirklich erstklassig ist. Dieser unscheinbare, enge Laden ist, zumindest was den Geschmack der Speisen angeht, absolut top. Für einen Spottpreis bekommt man ein sättigendes Menü mit sehr guter Misosuppe und einer schönen Auswahl an Maki-​, Inside-​Out-​Maki– und Nigiri-​Sushis. Auch die Edamamebohnen und der Gurkensalat sind absolut empfehlenswert!

i went to musashi based on the reviews here and i have to say i wasn’t impressed. i had #3, which arrived with strangely textured salmon, and filling in the rolls that tasted suspiciously like canned tuna. i wouldn’t go back, even though it’s not very expensive.

I am so excited to have come across this place and have found good japanese found that is not too far from where I live. musashi is a little whole in the wall, so be prepared to wait a bit as it gets really crowded. I opted to avoid all of this my ordering take away and the sushi was delicious. Next time I will try one of the japanese dinner options. not sure what but maybe noodles or curry. musashi reminds me of the tiny restaurants in tokyo with the (somewhat) older japanese working in kitchen. musashi is so small that I would say it sits maybe 10 people and when standing at the counter you can look into the kitchen where precise people are working. I will definitely be back here a couple of times. and hope that I find more little jewels like this!
FYI: the food is a bit more pricey here (guess that’s because of it’s proximity to Kreuzberg)

The sushi sets and specials are delicious and very affordable. I love the place and keep coming back all the time.

They don’t make good chinese food!
I went there with a friend and we both ordered chinese style dishes (veggies and noodles or with rice) and they were so bad. The veggies with noodles was like what you get in the train station yet cost 3 times as much. My advice: They probably make better sushi.

Lunch menus for 5 – 6 euros.
At this price no complaints.
Except: they don’t use Japanese rice for anything except the Sushi, which is a shame, the Katsu Curry would be so much better with proper Japanese rice instead of the Thai (?) rice they use.

Kleiner, sehr sympathischer japanischer Imbiss am Kottbusser Damm mit hervorragender Küche. Zwar war ich noch nie in Japan, aber der Laden macht auf mich einen ziemlich authentischen Eindruck — sowohl was das Essen, als auch was die Atmoshpäre betrifft (man findet hier allerlei interessante und eigenwillige Deko — von den typischen «Winke-​Katzen» bis zum Sumo-​Ringer -, und der Laden macht insgesamt den Eindruck eines echten japanischen Familienbetriebs).
Spezialität ist hier das Sushi, aber es gibt auch eine Auswahl anderer japanischer Speisen. Die Preise sind günstig, und man muss nie lange warten; allerdings kann es gelegentlich schwer werden, einen Platz zu ergattern (besonders abends).
Auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert für alle Sushi-​Liebhaber, allerdings kein Ort zum gemütlichen und ausgedehnten Abhängen.

Unweit von der Kottbusser Brücke gibt es hervorragendes Sushi und zwar im Musashi. Es ist eher ein Schnellimbiss als ein Restaurant, aber die Qualität ist ausgezeichnet. Ein kleiner, unscheinbarer Laden, den man jedoch unbedingt mal betreten sollte.
Von der Qualität und den ausgefallenen Sushi-​Variationen, war ich bisher immer total begeistert. Aber es gibt auch andere leckere, kalte und warme japanische Spezialitäten, von denen ich bisher leider nur die Edamame — junge, noch grüné Sojabohnen– probiert habe.
Da das Musashi wirklich extrem klein, aber sehr beliebt ist, ist es hier oft eng und überfüllt. Im Sommer wird dieses Problem durch ein paar Tische vor der Tür gelöst. Hier sitzt man aber allerdings direkt am stark befahrenen Kottbusser Damm. Am besten man bestellt sich dann das Sushi zum Mitnehmen und setzt sich dann an den nahe gelegenen Landwehrkanal. Das ist viel entspannter und viel schöner!

Musashi is one of my 5 top budget restaurants in Berlin, along with Meyman (Middle Eastern) and Hoai Nam (Vietnamese). I come here as often as possible to have the glorious maki with grilled salmon — part of their «Angebot 3», which for 6,50 euro also includes miso soup and a couple of sake nigiri.
Green tea is 0,50 euro, water is 1,00 and beer is 1,50.
Drawback: Place is too f-​ing popular with hordes of young, trendy people occupying especially the outdoor seats in summer. Leave my favourite sushi joint alone, please! (Just joking!)

Für mich ist das Musashi immer ein guter Platz um schnell einen Snack zwischendurch oder ein verspätetes Mittagessen am WoE zu bekommen.
Zu dieser OffZeit ist der Laden einigermassen leer und man bekommt schnell sein Essen.
Sushi ist erstklassig, aber ich mag die warmen Gerichte eigentlich viel lieber. Heute war so ein nasskalter Tag und ich hab mich mit einem warmen Sake und einem leckernem Teriyaki Don getröstet. Danach hatte ich dann auch wieder warme Hände.
Kein Laden zum versumpfen aber um sich schnell mit ein bisschen Japan zu verwöhnen.

Best sushi in Berlin in my book. Not the most creative sushi dishes you’ll eat but if you just want really good plain sushi made by an experienced japanese sushi-​chef, this is the place to go.

Bön sushi ‘imbiss’ pas cher. Pas les meilleurs mais pour le prix et le service c’est plus que bien! L’intérieur est minuscule par contre!

Good quality overall. To me looks like ingredients here still have their original flavour (i.e. tofu, chicken). Quite always full even though it does not take long to find a free seat/​spot.
Menu offers a pretty wide choice between entrées, salads, japanese sushi, tempura, and other solutions (i.e. chop soey) for the ones who do not eat raw fish.
Highs: quality, prices
Lows: pretty small (18 places)
My favourite: edamame (steamed soy beans), maki sushi, miso chicken chop soey

really one of the better sushi places in the city that i’ve been to. the sushi chefs are actually japanese. it’s inexpensive for the quality (by berlin standards). i used to go here pretty often when i lived in the area. be aware: it’s so tiny that i could hardly classify it as a restaurant. i wouldn’t go with more than a couple friends because it’s normally jammed in there. it’s not the sort of place that you spend a lot of time in.
