Staff were nice and accommodating. Food was served in no time. I had a Mango Lassi to drink, it was what you’d expect, nothing more nothing less. The Butter Chicken was served with a plate of basmatti rice and a plate of green salad. The salad was great; dish accompanying salads seldom are. It was fresh, not too cold, and I was very happy eating it with my dish. The rice was pretty standard, plain but just what you need with Butter Chicken. It was cooked nicely but then again, I wouldn’t rate a restaurant higher than 2⁄5 if they mess up rice. The Butter Chicken, the main dish, was pretty good, buttery creamy tomato sauce with just the right amount spice in it. Enjoyed the dash of chilliness without it being too chilli to enjoy. I don’t have a high tolerance for spicy dishes so don’t worry, you can order this dish if you know you won’t enjoy a hot spicy one. Would eat there again if I happen to be in the neighborhood.

This place is not very good, I don’t get the 5-stars reviews… The service is very nice, but that’s it. For starters we had the samosa which were soggy and tasteless, the homemade cheese was a similar a let down. The Lamb Korma was too watery and the meat was dry. The best dish was the Chickpea Curry, that was actually the only thing I could accept as Indian food. As mentioned before, the service was good, the waitress was very nice but still the most important thing, the food, is just not ok — 3 stars for the service and the Chickpea Curry. My search for an Indian restaurant in Berlin continues…

Fantastische, authentisch indische Küche. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und herzlich. Allerdings sollte man etwas Zeit mitbringen.

A big(selfish) part of me wants to give this restaurant a poor rating because I don’t want it to be fully booked all the time so that there’s no room for my partner and I but that would just be wrong. This restaurant shines in so many ways over the other Indian restaurants we’ve visited in Berlin(so far). Not only is the food wonderful but so is the service. It’s a family-run restaurant and there used to be a second Maharadscha in P’Berg, where we live but alas, no more. Our loss. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you’ll see that as an expat Englishman in Berlin, I’m on a relentless mission to seek out good, authentic(very important), Indian restaurants. Very hard to find in Berlin. I can honestly say that this is one. Run by a lovely Indian family. Excellent food(not oily like many), great, personal and friendly service. Truly, one of the best — well, I’m yet to find another! I’m guessing that Berliners just don’t like it hot and spicy and prefer Indian-style food instead of the proper stuff. I’ve heard it’s the same with Mexican food. Obviously not all Indian food is hot, hot, hot but if that’s what you want, you’ll find it here. The Vindaloos are as good as you’ll find anywhere in downtown Mumbai! Definitely well worth the trip to Schöneberg for a proper ‘Indian’ fix! Oh, and David, it’s not common practice in Germany to accept credit cards in restaurants.

Every Wednesday I eat Indian food in London. So when coming here in Berlin I was delighted to find this place. It turns out that Maharadscha is the second oldest Indian restaurant in Berlin which is already a milestone worthy of anyone’s time. As always I start with the naam bread which was very pleasing to soften the blow of the incredible spices. This is truly an amazing authentic Indian restaurant that is without a doubt the best I’ve been too(on a par with malabar in London). This was a great end to my tour through Berlin. As always in Indian restaurants I got the Chicken Korma and was not disappointed. This beautifully presented dish always goes down well with the Cobra beer or a light wine. My friend was also very pleases with the very spicy Chicken Madras which although he couldn’t handle was amazingly done, much respect to the chef. Luckily as we came late and I wanted a second chicken korma they offered a takeaway service which was much to my delight. We had a great chat with the owner and other staff and they really made the night as special as it was. The lively atmosphere was a big bonus accompanied by a really thoughtful playlist of appropriate songs. Finally the pricing was remarkably low for the high quality of the dishes we were given. If i had to summarise my feelings in one way I would say that if I wanted to run my own restaurant I would hope for it to be as good as this one.

This is a brilliant place. If you wish to eat authentic Indian, just tell the lady that you wish to. This is one of the place which goes closest to Indian food served in India. Price is justified as well.

Third time ive been to this great Little Indian gem and it was as good as Always As ususal we tried an Array of dishes and ended up sharing 4 main dishes along with a couple of appetizers and naan bread. Dont remember all the dishes though we tried lamb, chicken and duck, spicy and mild and it was all delicious! The prices are very fair and the hospitality from the wonderful indian family running this restaurant can not be beaten in Berlin. See you next time!

Guter, grundsolider Inder in Berlin.

Hmm. This is a review of two parts: food and service. We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend who had had the chicken tikka masala and enjoyed it(as other reviewers have). And, indeed, the food was very good: authentic Indian dishes, with the heat slightly toned down for local tastes(ie less chilli than you generally find in the UK), but very tasty dishes all the same, and without the excessive amount of ghee you sometimes encounter in the UK. And there is a good choice for both meat lovers and vegetarians. But for us, service was a disaster. We arrived on a busy Saturday evening, which may account for the difficulties: all the outside tables were full and there were only a few free inside. We were shown to a table at the back of the restaurant, but were not given any menus. After 10 minutes one our group — frustrated at having neither drinks nor menus — went and asked, and menus duly arrived — but they’d clearly forgotten about us. We ordered starters and mains, and the starters took a full 30 minutes to arrive. We watched other groups, who arrived after us, being served ahead of us. Never a good feeling. And then they’d got the order wrong(samosas instead of pakora for two if us). To be fair, they replaced them and gave us the samosas for free, as we were hungry by then. The owner promised to ensure the main arrived quickly and they arrived 10 minutes after we’d finished our starters, which was fine. The owner was very apologetic, and friendly. All would have ended reasonable happily, had not the bill then been wrong(overcharged). It was only a small error, and it was corrected straight away, but sadly was consistent with the rest of the service. Had the service been straightforward, this would have been a four-star review for the food. Note: the restaurant does not accept credit cards.

A wonderful hidden gem in Berlin. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Their menu is diverse and their attention to quality food is obvious. Even on their lunch buffet you can tell they care. Rice was constantly being refreshed if not used. Their lamb was succulent. I like my food a little spicier than some, if you’re like me then order off the menu instead of the buffet. If you want Indian while in Berlin, go here.

Awful does not even begin to cover it! My boyfriend & I went here for date night and while the atmosphere and décor were beautiful, the service was the worst I have ever had. The chicken was rotten and when we informed the owner she did not take the dish away but instead proceeded to taste it, then ask our neighbor to taste it as to her it was fine. Furthermore, she then proceeded to define the word rotten and explain as to how it is «too strong of a word to use». Eventually, she took the plate away, we decided to just finish the chana masala i had ordered and leave to go to the place across the street. Any other restaurant would have just taken the plate away instead of making a scene in an otherwise full dining room.

Also kein knoblauch-naan mehr hier.
