The duck was superb and the service was excellent. Our server recommended a stellar bottle of Italian wine and was an incredibly gracious host. Their cheesecake is likely the best I’ve had. So great I fact that I was inclined to craft her a ring from the aluminum wrapping from the wine bottle. Marry me?

This restaurant is one of those that try a big TOO much. Everything is under seasoned and under cooked. The beets and vegetables was almost raw and way to crunchy. Beets and root vegetables need to be cooked to bring out the sweetness and flavor properly. Do it right or don’t do it at all.

My good friend who lives in Mitte says this is his favorite, and after going there I can se why. The big steak was absolutely superb and cooked to perfection. The noodles and veggies were very tasty as well. To top it all off, the service was great too! I will definitely be going back.

After reading the reviews, I was excited to try out this place. We were fortunate to be seated (since we are «early» eaters). Our apps/​starters were very good. I was excited that we started off well. Then I got my sturgeon and found it to be a little undercooked and tough. Also, I found it to be underseasoned.

The place was packed but we lucked out were able to get a seat outside. The menu is limited and organized from vegan to meatatarian so it was easy for non-​German speakers to know where to start. The staff was helpful and helped with the questions we had about the food. In the end the food was amazing. I’ll be back, but this time with a reservation.

We were lucky to be seated without reservations because it is apparently very popular. The maitre de was super kind to translate the German menu word for word! I felt badly he did that but he didn’t complain. The food was very good. The beet soup was pretty amazing. So was the zucchini salad. My chicken dish was superb. The pork dishes were juicy and tender with a medley of summer vegetables. Unfortunately my brother’s sturgeon was a tad undercooked with some tough flesh at spots. We skipped dessert. Nice place.

All of their food was amazing, the waiter and waitress were all very nice & enjoyed to chat with us. We’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely late night dinner.

This place is around a number of other cool places we visited in Berlin. The food was delicious! Menus were all in German and the staff were very generous to translate to English for us. Bar guy was very helpful and made some good wine recommendations

Loved this cozy, cool restaurant in Berlin! As a first time visitor to Germany, I was excited to try the local cuisine and so reserved a table at Lokal. The soup, salad, and duck were all delicious! Our waitress was extremely nice and patient while translating (and repeating several times) the menu into English for my party. However, the food took quite a while to come out and the waitress didn’t check on us that often. Good thing that the Riesling we ordered kept us pleasantly occupied! I was most impressed with the value I felt I received at this restaurant. I hope they continue to keep prices so reasonable, as they will certainly become increasingly popular.

Searching for a cool place for dinner on a Saturday night — this was it!
Lokal was delicious and all the food looked great! Very busy on the weekend, definitely recommend a reservation. The bread they brought at the beginning of the meal was amazing and their garlic herb butter spread was addicting.
They change their menu daily so I am desperate to go back and try something else. This time I got a lamb, parsnip and broccoli plate (parsnips were a little too hard — but they warn you on their menu that all vegetables aren’t well-​done), carrot soup and a tagliatelle pasta dish with loads of tasty shredded cheese.
Interior is hip and full of wooden tables and white décor which is very aesthetically pleasing. Staff was all very nice and our waitress (she had tattooed arms) was so friendly and knowledgeable and gave us the perfect wine recommendation.

Nice, cozy atmosphere (except if you don’t like community seating), very nice staff, very very mediocre food. Ranged from bland to shrill, tastewise. Service, portions, pricing all fine. Sorry to say, but there’s not much here to write about.
Not that I’ll be going back, but guys could you please clean the clear glass lampshades hanging over the tables? They look like they haven’t been touched in months.

Myself and fiancé went to Lokal on Wednesday, we thought this place was excellent. The food was delicious especially the steak which was extremely tender and the duck. The service was absolutely outstanding, if we had more time in Berlin I would definitely go back, this place is well worth a visit.

We visited on a Monday night and were lucky enough to be immediately seated despite not having reservations. It seemed to be filled with other tourists when we visited, but that may be on account of it being a Monday.
The prices are relatively high for Berlin, with our mains between 18 – 22 euros. I loved how short and simple their menu was (helpful for an indecisive person like me) and though it was only in German, the waitress patiently explained everything to us. We got lamb ribs, zander (a freshwater fish), and steinbutt (a saltwater fish). I loved my steinbutt, which was perfectly fried, rendering the fat and flesh the way I like it. The fish was paired with roasted kohlrabi (delightful) and a selection of other vegetables. The flavors are light and fresh, very different from your typical heavy (but cheap!) German bar food. However, my parents were not so impressed, finding the food a bit bland and the serving portions small (much preferring the heavy but flavorful typical German food). So I’d say to make sure your party enjoys fine dining and fresh/​light flavors before splurging here.
We also got a cheesecake for dessert, which also came with strawberries and strawberry ice cream. The cheesecake was very good, very rich, but unfortunately too rich for us (I’m also lactose intolerant so I could only taste a little of it).
Ultimately I wasn’t blown away the way I was hoping to be (considering the rave reviews on TripAdvisor). It was good food, but comparable to many other restaurants of such pricing back home. Nonetheless, it’s still a solid restaurant, especially for people who like fresh, light foods (aka people like me).

Vorab: ohne Reservierung geht hier zumindest am Wochenende nix — der Laden ist rammelvoll.
Der Service/​die Bedienung ist (egal welche Person uns bedient hatte) sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und verdient ein dickes Lob. Auch die «Lokalmanagerin» hatte sich sehr bemüht, uns einen schönen Platz zur Verfügung zu stellen.
Zum Kern der Sache: das Essen. Meine Partnerin und ich hatten jew. eine Vorspeise: Kürbissuppe und Pilzsalat. Was gefällt: die Gerichte sind der Jahreszeit angepasst. Und schmecken hervorragend. In beiden Gerichten war ein gewisses Etwas vorhanden, z.B. Blütendeko in der Kürbissuppe.
Hauptgang: Kalbsnieren und –keule mit Gemüse der Saison. Sehr gut hatte das gebratene Gemüse gefallen, die Keule war saftig und zart. Nieren hatte ich zum ersten Mal probiert, war nicht mein Ding, aber: sie hat der Sauce einen gewissen Pfiff verliehen.
Zum Dessert bestellten wir ein Stück Käsekuchen, genauer: New York style cheese cake mit Johannisbeer-​Eis. Dieser war mir zu mächtig, d.h. zu viel Frischkäse. Aber ist Geschmackssache und das Rezept entspricht meines Wissens dem «Original»: 5 Pck. Frischkäse pro Kuchenform (!!!):
Die Preise sind der Qualität angemessen, ich würde wieder kommen. Ein insgesamt über alle Gänge hinweg super hervorragendes und nachhaltiges Geschmackserlebnis hat mir hier aber gefehlt, deshalb nur 4 von 5 Sternen.

We went a family of five for dinner on a Monday night after booking in advance. The place was full but we were sited imidiatly… We ordered all the first course (5)
They came in about 8 minutes. They were all all good. They serve very good bread and butter too, and keep on serving it if you finish it… Ambiance is good but unfortiunately
They dont play Música at all in the house. We ordered the entrecôte and fish for main course. They arrived on time but one steak was cold, and all fish were not cooked inside so we had to return to the kitchen. The were very polite and made a whole New ones for us. This time it was really great. When we waited for the New main courses to arrive they treated us with curtesy wine and beer. This was really a surprise and shows the true quality of this fine restaurant. For desert we ordered the cheese cake and the crêpe both deliciuse. 5 first course 5 main courses, a beer, White wine 2 glasses, cheese cake, and 2 Espereso all together Euro 200.00
A bit pricy but all in all a very good experience.

Ziemlich enttäuscht

I have been wanting to try this place out since last year and finally decided it was the perfect spot to host a mini college reunion dinner last weekend. We had friends visiting Berlin from Hamburg and London, I wanted to dispel their preconceptions of German food and also have an intimate relaxed atmosphere, where we could all catch up and enjoy ourselves. Lokal was just that.
Candlelit and not too overcrowded, the noise level was a low thrum of conversation from our neighbouring tables. I loved the simplicity of the décor. Understately chic in white. As the name suggests, not only is the food cooked with locally sourced ingredients grown within the region, but also the furniture is made from locally sourced materials.
For a busy Saturday service, I found the staff to be very attentive. The menu was all in German, and although my German is very good, I hadn’t heard of some of the ingredients! So they kindly assisted us with some of the more trickier ingredients. I love the fact that the menu changes every week according to what is in season and available. Last week’s was spectacularly autumnal, with much-​loved chantarelle mushrooms, turnips, beets and absolutely no pumpkins in sight! (those of you in the know, will get my reference). They catered well for veggies, offering more than one option on the menu. Despite our party being the largest in the restaurant, our first course arrived in no time at all. The first sign that everyone unanimously loved their meals was the contented silence that fell across our table as we munched on.
I had gone for the brie salad, with beets, poached pear, kohlrabi and beets. My other half went for trio of pork fillet, pork aspic and pork belly, which was gone before I could even pinch a morsel to try! Another friend had Pike (which we don’t really eat in the UK). For mains, the most popular choices amongst us were the roast veal, wild boar and vegetarian pasta dish. The portions were very generous, so much so I couldn’t finish the second piece of my wild boar and offered it to the boy but he was also stuffed. I loved how all the veggie accompaniements complemented the flavours in my dish. Unfortunately, I had no room for dessert so can’t comment on that. Alas, the restaurant lighting was too dim to provide any decent photos of the food but I can assure you each and every plate was beautifully presented to a very high standard.
Overall I would describe the restaurant as modern German — offering hearty seasonal local food. It’s high end without the pretentiousness. Definitely worth booking in advance if you’re visiting Berlin and in Mitte!

Wegen des höheren Preisniveaus vielleicht nicht etwas für jeden Tag, aber auf jeden Fall für besondere Anlässe, da freut man sich noch mehr auf den Besuch in der Linienstraße.
Auch wenn jetzt vielleicht noch mehr Menschen dorthin pilgern: das Lokal sollte einfach niemandem vorenthalten werden.

Possibly the best dinner to be had in Berlin right now. Waltz in at 6 sans rez and beat the German dinner hour (8, promptly).

We weren’t a huge crowd for the dinner but most of those who came were serious gourmet foodies — and the Lokal was pretty much the sort of place us gourmets like. The place specialises in fresh local produce from the region and to prove it, they have a different menu every day to match the farmers’ daily offerings.
Taste-​wise, our expectations have been mostly fullfilled. By this I mean that some of the dishes were truly excellent but some also did lack a bit of flavour. For example, the freshly-​baked bread was pretty good but the dip that came with it was somewhat bland — but freshly made. For starters, Sylvia had the tartare and she thought a bit more flavour may have been possible. For her main dish, she was really pleasantly surprised. It was different types of Schweinbauch that has been bedded on local fancy vegetables such as pastinakes and topinbar — and it was all very yummy. The dish sizes were pretty huge so most people had to skip dessert. The winelist had a nice selection but somewhat pricey. At least they didn’t give people a headache, unlike some other wines.
The restaurant was fully booked and everyone from the Berlin Dinner Club liked the atmosphere and their food. Some said they will come back again to try other interesting dishes such as the pigeon, which I suppose they shoot when they see them flying over Berlin/​Brandenburg. Next time, please note that one can also ask for special dishes from the kitchen. Next time.

Nachdem wir beiden Mädels herb enttäuscht vom «Pauly Saal» waren (mehr an anderer Stelle), fanden wir mithilfe von Unilocal das «Lokal» in der Linienstrasse. Erstmal sind wir daran vorbeigelaufen… kein Hinweisschild und nix.
Es war 17:30 Uhr am Samstagabend — und wir hatten Glück, noch einen Zweiertisch um 18:00 Uhr zu ergattern. Das Ambiente gefiel mir sofort, die weiss gewischten Tische und sanften Farben verbreiten sehr viel Frische. Also bis 18 Uhr noch ein bisschen gebummelt und ein temperamentvolles Fussballspiel in der Nähe verfolgt.
Wir bekamen einen lauschigen Tisch, einen prima Riesling und ein sehr gutes Essen zum angemessenen Preis. Die Bedienung hat sich liebevoll um uns gekümmert, obwohl es ziemlich voll war.
Ein Mampe rundete das Ganze ab. Ein tolles Restaurant! Na ja, liegt ja auch an der «Kleinen Hamburger Strasse»… :-)

Unaufgeregt, classy, hell und fein. Der Name hält. Schon lange wollte ich mal ins Lokal, aber irgendwie kam immer was dazwischen. Umso schöner, dass es gestern auf einen Lunch geklappt hat.
Das Lokal liegt ganz unprätentiös in der Linienstrasse Ecke Kleine Hamburger Strasse. Eine Ecke, an der eine ganze Zeit lang die Betreiber wechselten, bis, ja, bis das Lokal einzog und Klasse und Durchhaltevermögen mitbrachte.
Beim betreten empfängt einen Ruhe. Denn ja, auch um 13 Uhr ist es hier tatsächlich angenehm ruhig, einige Tische sind besetzt, das Personal ist freundlich, aufmerksam und bringt uns Jasmintee zum Aufwärmen.
Die Mittagskarte ist angenehm kurz und uns beide lacht der Hirschburger an, der, mit Majo und Ketchup im Mini-​Weckglas serviert, meiner Begleitung aufs Vorzüglichste mundet. Ich bestelle den Gemüsehackbraten, weil ich wissen will, was sich dahinter verbirgt und bereue meine Entscheidung keine Minute.
Preislich vollkommen in Ordnung übrigens, mit 10,90 für den Burger und 7,90 für den Gemüsehackbraten, wenn ich mich richtig erinnere.

War bisher drei Mal im Lokal. Immer leckere, saisonale Speisen, Bedienungen korrekt, die auch immer versucht haben uns zu platzieren, auch wenn es voll war und wir nicht reserviert hatten.
Manchmal etwas teuer, Preis-​Leistung könnte ein bisschen besser sein. Dennoch: Tolles Ambiente, kreative Auswahl, nette Leute.

Sehr guter Service, jedoch hätte ich vorher reservieren sollen, da es schwer ist einen Platz zu bekommen, besonders abends.
Die Auswahl ist groß und die Karte wechselt immer, so dass ein mehrmaliger Besuch nicht langweilig wird. Die Qualität vom Essen ist sehr gut, es wird regional, saisonal, bio sofern möglich, und frisch zubereitet. Ich hatte das Maishähnchen mit Steckrübepürree bestellt, welches sehr gut zubereitet war, ohne viele geschmacksverfälschende Gewürze, gemschacklich sehr authentisch und naturbelassen, etwas für die feinen Geschmacksnerven.
Preislich etwas gehoben, ist aber seinen Preis wert.

Ambiente mit sehr freundlichen KellnerInnen. Vorspeise Ziegenkäse:
hervorragend. Hauptspeise: Tagliatelle, hätten leckerer zubereitet werden
können, jeglicher Pfiff fehlte, war aber OK, weil alles andere so nett war. Gute Weinauswahl. Ich gehe auf
jeden Fall wieder hin. Monate spaeter: Mittlerweile war ich schon oft dort. KellnerInnen und Essen immer genial

Dieses Lokal ist sehr ungezwungen und bietet jeden Tag eine wechselnde Mittags– sowie Abendkarte. Somit sind alle Speisen immer frisch und schmackhaft.
Der Service war sehr freundlich, die Preise sind fair. Der Cappucchino zum Nachtisch war auch sehr gut.
Ich hätte mir jedoch gewünscht, dass die Portion Quiche mit Salat etwas größer gewesen wäre.

Das Lokal ist ein besonderer Ort, was die Einrichtung angeht. Ich war mittags dort und sehr überrascht sehr angenehm allerdings! Man sieht gleich, dass die Betreiber viel Leidenschaft in diesen Ort legen und es ihr ganzes Herzblut ist. Das merkt man auch am Essen, das keine Sterneküche, aber eine sehr gute Küche bietet. Wer Anspruchsvoll essen will und dabei nicht arm werden möchte, ist hier bestens aufgehoben. Auch der Service ist sehr gut. Hier werde ich noch häufiger hinkommen, sehr gerne mit Freunden und Abends.

Endlich haben wir es mal ins Lokal geschafft. Spontan angerufen, ausgebucht, sollen trotzdem kommen. Bekamen dann einen tiptop Platz in einer romantischen Nische. Perfekt für ein erstes Date! Gut, in meinem Fall mit meiner Schwester. :-) Die Menükarte ist interessant (soll heissen, nicht 0815), Sonderwünsche sind kein Problem, man erntet keine irritierten Blicke, wenn man eine Birnenschorle bestellt, statt einer Flasche hochpreisigen Wein — und: man kann der Empfehlung der äusserst charmanten Bedienung blind vertrauen. Ich mag weder Trauben noch Nüsse im (warmen) Essen. Aber das Trauben-​Nuss-​Risotto war ein Gedicht! Lag preislich um die 12EUR, also völlig ok für die Gegend. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt: Der Kaffee.
Alles richtig gemacht.

Ein charmanterLaden, sehr schlicht und aufgeräumt. Wir sind auf Empfehlung dorthin gegangen und es hat uns gefallen. Es hieß erst es gäbe leider keinen Platz mehr draußen aber dann tat sich doch noch die Möglichkeit auf und wir bekamen eine Platz. Der Cava als Apéritif war leider warm, aber nach ein paar nachfragen gab es dann Eiswürfel. Schade aber, dass sich niemand vom Service daran störte, dass es warmen Cava gibt. Aber das Essen hat uns gut geschmeckt. Als Vorspeise gab es Salat mit Makrele, die sich allerdings überraschenderweise als Schillerlocke erwies. Die hausgemachten Nudeln waren wirklich selbst gemacht und sehr gut. Wir gehen noch mal hin um nichtzuletzt mal zu sehen ob der Cava dann kalt ist!

Ein schöner, entspannter und angenehm puristischer Laden in Mitte. Ein Plus: auf die Herkunft der Lebensmittel (Bio, regional) wird auf der Karte hingewiesen. Die Karte ist zwar überschaubar, aber abwechslungsreich.
Das Lokal hat sich wohl schon innerhalb kürzester Zeit in der Kreativbranche herumgesprochen, die sich dort gerne zum Lunch trifft.

Wir waren sehr spontan dort abends essen und sind mitten in eine Weihnachtsfeier geplatzt. Der Service war trotz vollem Laden unglaublich aufmerksam und bemüht und das Essen sehr, sehr lecker. Wiederkommen zu einem weiterem gemütlichen Abend garantiert!

Ein wunderbares neues Restaurant, dem man Kinderkrankheiten gerne verzeiht, weil der atmosphärische Mix hier einfach stimmt. Wenn die lange Wartezeit aufs Essen etwas verkürzt wird und wenn sich die Bestellungen mit dem decken, was am Ende serviert wird, wird dieses Restaurant zu den Top-​Adressen Berlins gehören.
