Vegan café bordering Gorlitzer Park… open 9 – 6 Wednesday to Sunday. Excellent large green salad for € 8.50 with super high quality lettuce, fresh veggies, nuts, and four quite tasty crackers. Definitely my favorite super-healthy meal I’ve had in town so far. I’ve tried two of the smoothies– the electrolyte(I’m a Herr Lehmann fan so I had to find out if Karl«Think of your electrolytes!» was right!) and the green– both were good, but I think my body is more in need of greens than electrolytes, so I’ll be ordering the green again(apologies to Karl). I had a vanilla soy latte — first time I’d tried one anywhere– and I have to say the coffee was excellent, and the soy-vanilla foam was creamy. The atmosphere is super casual, and they keep it quite warm. So it’s a place you can get cozy at. It looks like it is family run. I’m staying in Kreuzberg, and will definitely be back.

I consider myself lucky that my neighborhood is home to so many cute little cafes lining the streets. Among them is LebensfRoh, which has been around for some time, although from what I understand, not always in the same location. I don’t know how long it has been on Görlitzer, but I am surprised it has taken me this long to discover the place. In fact, it was only because the fellow stopped there and brought home a business card that I knew it existed. As I was walking by this past week, I decided to check the place out for myself. I wasn’t hungry at the time, but wanted to get a feel for it. It’s a nice green building(think mint green) with sidewalk seating as well as a tiny dining room area. There is a display counter with plenty of baked goods, ranging from seitan pockets and vegetarian quiche, to a whole handful of truffles. There was even raw sushi — this I will have to try! I am pretty certain that everything sold here is vegetarian, much of it is vegan, and a lot of it is also raw(hence the name). In addition to little sweets and baked goods, there is also a menu with daily dishes that are a bit more costly(where a truffle would run a couple euros, a meal is around 10 or 11, from what I saw). I can’t yet comment on the taste of the place and if it’s worth the price — as I haven’t tried anything yet… but I do know I will be back to properly try some things out. As for now, I am just glad there is a new café in my vicinity with a variety of options I can actually eat.
