On a visit to the newly opened Forever 21, Germany’s flagship(and only) store, I realized why it’s called that. Because you have to wait FOREVER to try anything on. Seriously, I stood in line for 15 – 20 minutes to try on clothing. My advice? Don’t use the dressing rooms on the second floor, as there are only three. Instead, gather up all your purchases and head to the first floor, where there are 14. Anyway, moving on. I love Forever 21 because it’s cheap and cute. Of course, sometimes cheap literally means that, as in clothing falling apart quickly. But the reason I went there is that my favorite pair of jeans — from Forever 21 — got a hole in them. I wore them all the time for three years and they finally gave in… compared to my Diesel Jeans that ripped after less than a year. Interesting… So I went and was able to find 2 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of jean shorts, and 1 necklace for less than € 35. Which is awesome. As for the not so great things about this store, well, I already covered the waiting situation. But there’s also the fact that it’s four floors but not a super huge selection. The floors are narrow and only a fraction of the things you can find on the website are in the store. Additionally, the escalators are set up terribly, and instead of being in a zig-zag fashion that allows you to go up or down multiple levels with ease, you have to walk all the way around the escalator bank to continue your journey to the next floor. There are also, of course, those growing pains of a new store. Such as when I pointed out to the dressing room lady that the dress I wanted to try on had the ink alarm attached to the zipper — meaning I couldn’t unzip it nor could I try it on, and she told me I should go down to the ground floor(I was two floors higher) to have the cashiers undo it, which of course implied that not only would I have to do it as opposed to one of the many on-hand employees, but also that I would have to wait another 15 – 20 minutes to try it on. No thanks — I told her I wasn’t interested. So yeah… I am glad that Forever 21 is in Germany, and not so far from me either, but I can’t help but see all the ways in which it could improve. Here’s hoping… In the meantime, I will try to visit on weekdays to avoid the crowds and possibly the wait times…
