Cocolo Ramen

Hat geschmacklich leider nach gelassen zwar immer noch gut aber Verhältnis preis Leistung ist nicht mehr gerecht.

Have had ramen in nyc and Tokyo, and this place is legit. Not saying it’s better, but it’s as good. And for it to be that good in Germany, that’s pretty cool.
Place has limited sitting, and it’s pretty popular so had to wait a bit. But not too long.
Flavorful broth, noodles got a good bite, and meats are tasty. I would come back again if I was craving ramen in Berlin.

Nicht besser als die Variante in Kreuzberg, dafür NOCH ätzender, was das Gequetsche der Gäste und das möglichst gehetzte Essen und wieder raus befördern angeht.
Wir hatten extra einen Tisch für drei reserviert — auf beiden Seiten kleine Bänkchen, auf die man sicher auch noch eine vierte Person gekriegt hätte.
Da wurde uns dann doch ernsthaft noch ein weiteres Paar mit drangeklemmt, sodass auf einer Seite DREI Leute je mit einer Arschbacke auf dem Bänkchen saßen und sich beim Ramen Löffeln gegenseitig die Suppe vom Löffel stupsten, weil man nicht mal ienen Arm gewegen konnte, ohne den anderen zu belästigen.
Das hat nichts mehr mit essen gehen zu tun, da hat eine Legehenne in Käfighaltung mehr Freiraum, das ist eine Frechheit.

Am Wochenende unbedingt reservieren! Tolle Innendeko und fantastische Ramen! Bisschen hochpreisig und man sitzt dicht an dicht. Aber das ganze Gewese um die Nudeln, ist ok. Gutes Essen! Aber auch nicht nur vom Hype blenden lassen: gute Ramen gibt es auch noch woanders in Berlin.

I love this place! This is the best Ramen I’ve tried in Berlin. My fav is the one with smoked chicken. The atmosphere of this place is unique, service very good and prices fair. Always crowded, prepare for waiting for a free spot. I like the concept that you can watch you Ramen being prepared. I totally recommend!

Sehr guter Ramen in mehreren Variationen. Meine Favoriten bislang sind die Ramen mit geräuchertem Huhn und mit Garnelen-​Teigtaschen. Platz nimmt man entweder direkt gegenüber der Küche wo man die Zubereitung hautnah verfolgen kann — oder im Gastraum an kleineren oder größeren Tischen. Im Sommer auch gerne draußen auf der ruhigen Terasse — die an heißen Tagen auch gerne mal mit Wasser besprenkelt wird, sodass quasi eine kleine Oase entsteht. Neben Ramen gibt es auch Vorspeisen (z.B. Edamame, Kimchi), der Ramen allein ist jedoch auch schon sättigend. Mittags sehr gut besucht, zum Ramen gibt’s dann auch ein Freigetränk. Sehenswert sind auch die abgepausten Gullideckel-​Bilder an der Wand im Innenraum.

Ich hatte absolut keinen Hunger und hab nur gegessen!
Vorspeise, Ramen, Nachtisch und alles war wirklich lecker.
Der Laden ist wirklich schön gemacht und hat ein schönes Ambiente. Die Bedingung war sehr freundlich und zu lange warten mussten wir auch nicht.

It tasted really good, perhaps the taste is ⁵⁄₅ even. That’s the first part of the review. The second part is that the wait was really long, and it was a lil overpriced considering i was hungry enough to eat another dinner about an hour later. It makes a great appetizer though.

Definitely the best Ramen in Berlin out of the 7 places I’ve tested.
Cheap food with generous portions (none of us could finish our Ramen)

Menu is very limited. Otherwise it’s perfection. I had miso ramen with ginger lemonade. First time in my life I’ve had authentic ramen and now I’m spoiled forever.
BF had ramen with chicken and bonito flakes. He loved it but added spicy sesame oil and seasoning provided at the counter.
Cash only. Inexpensive. A bit out of the way. Wait can be 30 minutes or more but IT’S ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT and you must go!

Leider mussten wir draußen anstehen umso mehr war die Erwartung laden toll Service super schnell. Unterm Strich ganz nett extra Schweine Bauch nicht das Geld wert 3 Stücken etwas für den Metzger Gesellen die Basis der Suppe super aber die hausgemachten Nudeln waren etwas einsam. selbstgemachte Limonade lecker na gut ich war da sicher nicht noch einmal

Ich fand die Ramen-​Suppe nicht schlecht, aber ich habe auch schon deutlich bessere gegessen. Insofern finde ich die Bewertung dieses Restaurants (wie auch andere Rezensenten) ein wenig überschwänglich positiv. Die Bedienung war aber wirklich sehr freundlich. Die Suppe kam auch erstaunlich schnell (gefühlt 3 min).
Ich hätte auch vier Sterne vergeben, aber habe das Gefühl dass ein Kontrapunkt gegenüber den vielen 5-​Sterne Bewertungen nicht schadet.

It was good, but I’ve had better. I haven’t been to Japan yet, but I’ve eaten ramen at Japanese-​Hawaiian joints in San Mateo in the Bay Area and can say this is a weak ramen. And quite over prized for what you get.
You get to pick five different «toppings» so you know what is coming, but then the soup is not so substantial. You get more noodles than the topping. Barely any meat and little to absolutely no vegetables. You can’t have egg and meat at the same time like I’ve eaten it in California, and as I understand ramen comes as. Making just one step higher than a home made package ramen with a cracked egg or a spoonful of ground meat.
It tastes good, but not special at all. I think sad describes the consistency of this alleged ramen.

Woohoo! We found a legit ramen place in Germany! I dare say, the ramen experience I had at Cocolo was much better than the last ramen I had at home in the Bay at Ramen Dojo…
We arrived a bit before opening to avoid a possible queue. As others have mentioned, the restaurant is tiny with some seating at the bar, a few tables inside and several tables outside in the garden. It filled up fast after we took our seat at a large shared table in the garden. We both ordered the tonkatsu ramen and it was delicious! The chunks of pork belly and slices of roasted pork were tender and flavorful, the broth was opaque and rich with flavor, and the noodles had the right texture and soaked up the savoriness of the broth wonderfully. My hubby washed his bowl of ramen down with a beer, while I had the honey ginger lemonade, which was refreshing and sweet – a great contrast to the deep, bold flavors of the ramen.
How I wish Hamburg had such a ramen shop, but I suppose this just means we’ll have at least one reason to visit Berlin again.

My wife and I were both pleasantly surprised by how delicious the ramen here was. Clearly other people know how good it is, or want to try it for themselves, because this place fills up pretty quickly within a half hour of opening. It’s also quite a small space, however, with seating at the bar area, a handful of tables inside and a few larger tables outside.
We both ordered the tonkatsu ramen because, well, you won’t really want to share too much of this one! The broth was savory with very toothsome noodles floating within it, the pork belly and pork slices were tender and flavorful, and the remaining accoutrement were very good as well from the soft-​boiled egg to the slices of ginger (first time I’ve seen ginger in a bowl of ramen, but it was a nice touch).
Service was very pleasant and very fast! A must for ramen lovers living in or visiting Berlin.

Toller kleiner authentischer Laden mit leckeren Ramen wie man sie auch tatsächlich in japan bekommt. Der Preis geht mehr als in Ordnung und auch das Ambiente weiß zu gefallen. Viel Platz gibt es leider nicht, weshalb man am Abend schon mal länger warten muss um einen Platz zu bekommen. Gerade im Winter eine tolle Adresse für ein schmackhaftes und gemütliches Abendessen.

A nice ramen place in Berlin (Mitte), but not spectacular. Ramen are good but i found the broth very salted and thus not so tasty: you do not expect to taste salt from soya only when you eat ramens. Usually you taste the soya less, and more the good taste of meat and vegetables. So i was a bit disappointed by the ramen, but the gyozas were very good! Better than the usual ones i would say, when the ramens were a bit below. I took the shoyu ramen with pork and vegetables.
We came on a (rainy) sunday night and it was super crowded so expect to wait — a lot. Weirdly, it was full of tourists, maybe looking for exotic food, as we were.
Prices are ok, in usual range for ramens, and service is efficient, not super smiley but so so so many people are waiting that you really do not hold this against them!

Sehr schöné Atmosphäre. Die Nudeln sind selbstgemacht und waren sehr lecker. Leider bestand das Menü nur aus Ca 8 verschiedene Nudelgerichte. Wer jedoch Lust auf Sushi hat, kann zusätzlich in dem benachbarten Restaurant «Kuchi» Essen bestellen (beide Restaurant kooperieren miteinander und benutzen die gleiche Terrasse).

Disclaimer: this is a review for the vegetarian miso ramen, the tonkotsu and other meat-​based ramen were well-​received by others in the group, however the fact the menu items vary so much in quality and care is really disappointing.
I wanted so badly to like this ramen spot, the interior and atmosphere are great, the staff seem very focused and polite.
I was put off by the lack of free water at first, having paid for a lemonade after walking all day it felt very awkward and impolite to be denied a bit of tap water. The bowls came out one by one and I tried to get excited, perhaps the miso broth would be flavourful and moreish.
Sadly my fears of a lazy dish to appease the vegetarians were confirmed, I would have in all earnest preferred kimchi/​edame starters over paying € 8. The broth wasn’t subtle; it was utterly bland, beyond unremarkable and like a store-​bought clearspring brown miso paste I used to occasionally buy. Beyond that it was a bowl of well made noodles, plain corn, seaweed and quite a nice egg. Left with the feeling that no love or care went into this option and with others that tried it in agreement, I actually went away feeling ripped off and disappointed at the vastly different standard I was given. Please reconsider a dish before presenting a substandard option.

I’ve come here many, many times a year from 2011 – 2014 after discovering my love and constant craving for ramen in Japan in spring 2011. Cocolo’s an authentic place with amazing food and good prices. Definitely get the matcha ice cream for dessert.

The best place for Ramen in Berlin. Everything is homemade — from the noodle til the dish itself -, very nice environment as well. Honestly, it’s the best wantan that I ever had!
Not mentioning that is a very traditional japenese place… No, I mean VERY traditional!
So if you are into nice and real Japanese Ramen, don’t be hesitate and go for it. ;)

Ein Muss für jeden Ramen Fan — für mich eine der besten Ramen Bars ausserhalb Japans. Die Niederlassung in Mitte ist Nippon-​typisch sehr klein aber deshalb auch sehr gemütlich. Die Qualität des Essens ist absolute Spitze.

Yummy!!! Love this place. Cute garden sitting area that smells like heaven when you walk in. Got the tonkatsu and it was delicious, two friends got the veg and loved it and one the shio (he said he had the tonkatsu and it was better). So many noodles, almost creamy soup which was delicious and I also got a homemade ginger, honey lemonade which was sticky and delicious! So recommend this place. It does get busy so try and beat the rush. Great place to go when its cold or warm. Their amount of appetizers also were impressive for being a just ramen place. The pork belly was super tasty, moist and if you have the chance to get it, I highly encourage you to.

Hidden on a small street, this place reminded me of the east village Japanese ramen places I used to frequent in New York. I ordered Gyoza and Tonkotsu ramen. I had been craving ramen for so long! It’s been 6 months since I had ramen. :-/​the noodles had a nice chewy texture but the broth was lacking a little on the pork bone richness that is characteristic of Tonkotsu broth. I had a decent meal and the prices of this place is pretty affordable as well!

My boyfriend and I are both Japanese Americans who have been to Japan numerous times and eat Japanese dishes regularly at home, and we were pleasantly surprised at how authentic and delicious the ramen was here!
We came in pretty late around 9 pm and there was a line before us waiting to be seated; it was cramped because there literally is no waiting space in the small restaurant. The first thing I noticed was that the two young male cooks were speaking fluent Japanese (pretty cute eye candy if I say so myself, haha). The waitress addressed us in Japanese as well, and I also noticed there were multiple other Japanese customers there who were obvious regulars that came in to eat by themselves and I took that as a good sign.
I usually prefer to be seated in the back of the restaurant instead of the bar, but because we were hungry and didn’t want to wait longer, we sat at the bar and it was a great decision! The ambiance was very Japanese and it personally made the dining experience more fun. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and my boyfriend ordered the Tan Tan. We also ordered a Kakuni starter to share and a still Calpico drink. We both agreed that we preferred the Tonkotsu over the Tan Tan, but both were delicious! The food came out incredibly fast and the service was great. The total bill came out to be 26.5 €.
I highly recommend this authentic ramen place. We almost came here two nights in a row but decided to go to the popular Shiso burger instead, which is located right around the corner.

This place is pretty dang good. You dont expect excellent ramen in Berlin, but here it is. Tou could easily give this place 5 stars, if the wait were a bit shorter and you got just a bit more pork in your bowl. Suffice it to say, I had a double noodle bowl of tonkotsu and I finished the whole thing, even though I was busting at the seams. This place is delicious. The noodles are just right. Deep, flavorful broth. Nice pork and pork belly, good, a bit runny egg. What more so you want?
The wait wasnt terrible, but the place is small… really small… so be prepared to wait a bit and get close to your neighbors. Service friendly and quick and prices are very good for the quality youre getting. We had the prawn wonton starters and they were really good, as was the fresh grapefruit drink (alcoholic). So glad to find this little gem!

Waren heute Aufgrund der vielen guten Bewertungen da. Für meine Begriffe ist der Laden überbewertet. Es schmeckt ok (haben einige Vorspeisen und Ramen probiert), jedoch ist und bleibt es eine einfache japanische Suppenküche mit Schnellrestaurant-​Charakter im Bistrostiel und dafür ist es preislich nicht günstig! Die Musik ist sehr laut und es wird an Menschen durchgeschleust, was das Zeug hält. Wir habens probiert, zu unserem Stammrestaurant wird es wohl nicht werden, da das Speiseangebot nicht überzeugte und keine Gemütlichkeit aufkam.

Surprisingly authentic ramen taste in Berlin!
It was a brisk February evening when I decided to venture out for the last meal of my trip. Thanks to Unilocal,I found this hidden gem about 20 minutes walking distance from my hotel (the Westin).
My colleague and I arrived about 10 minutes before opening and there was already a line of 5 – 10 people. Through a tiny door up a few steps, you’ll enter a cozy ramen bar with a few tables in the back. Total capacity is less than 40. We decided to sit at the bar right by the entrance. I immediately felt like I was back in Tokyo!
Sake! Gyoza! Tonkotsu ramen! Onegaishimasu! Sitting at the bar, we witnessed the ramen mastery in tiny kitchen with 2 chefs. Service was quick and we were enjoying our sake and gyoza within minutes of our ordering. Gyoza was as expected and freshly made — something ramen shops in America sometimes have trouble with.
Ramen bowls came out in a lovely presentation. The first thing I noticed was that there was LOT of ginger. Maybe this is to cater to German taste? Though the ginger was a bit too much for me, all other elements were super tasty. The broth was spot on and nicely round. Soft egg and chashu. I’m a little disappointed that I only received half an egg, but I couldn’t finish everything anyway so I guess it was fine. Noodles were al dente and enjoyable.
We were in and out within ~30 minutes. Quick service and already a queue of people when we left. A lovely escape from the traditional German fare. Berlin is quite an international city, but I was pleasantly surprised by this place!

Bisher beschränkte sich mein Wissen über japanische Küche nur auf SUSHI… Sushi und nochmal Sushi. Aber an dem Tag wo ich eine RAMEN-​Suppe im Cocolo Ramen gekostet habe — war ich begeistert, wie geil… geiler japanische Küche sein kann…
In einer Schale Ramen kann man sich vertiefen und alles rundum vergessen. Tolle Zutaten, tolle geschmackliche Nuancen.
Ich war kurz nach 18h an einem Sonntag dort, und musste erstmal 15 Minuten auf einen Platz warten. Wenn man aus der Kälte in die warme Location reinkommt, so schmeckt dann die Suppe 100fach besser ;) Tee Ingwer-​Zitrone noch dazu… und mehr braucht man nicht.
Also wenn ich da öfters als Besucher auffallen sollte — ich bin kein Stalker, nur ein Genießer! ;)
Ich fand das Ambiente authentisch, schlicht und gemütlich.

PS: Toiletten sind im Restaurant nebenan (gehören dazu: Kuchi) und wenn man mit VISA/​EC zahlen möchte, muss man auch kurz zu Kuchi.

Ich liebe Ramen und habe diesen Laden aufgrund von guten Bewertungen im Internet besucht. Ich muss sagen, dass der Ramen schon gut war, aber nicht krass. Die Auswahl war, als ich da war, nur auf ca. 8 – 10 Suppen beschränkt. Und für fast 10 € find ich das einbisschen happig. Der Reistee war jedoch phänomenal.
Fazit: Ich finde den Laden gut, aber auch überbewertet.

Na holla die Waldfee, hätt ich doch fast einen meiner Lieblingsläden vergessen mal drüber zu schreiben. Gibt eigentlich nicht viel drüber zu schreiben ausser Genial, Lecker, Authentisch, Durchdacht =) Hab alle Suppen schon durch, mein Liebling Tonkotsu (Schweinebraten und süßen Schweinebauch) der Schweinebauch ist né Wucht, auch zum einfach so bestellen als Tapa. Tantan ist mit Hackfleisch, schwankte aber im Geschmack von sehr gut zu sehr scharf. Wan tan, auch sehr gut, alles hausgemacht und gut abgeschmeckt. Schätze sehr bei diesem Laden das die Suppen nicht so Überwürzt sind sondern natürlich abgeschmeckt, und Ohne MSG (Glutamat) hergestellt werden. Bald anwesend sollte man sein am besten bei der Öffnung, sonst Wartezeit, mach ich aber auch gerne (auch bis zu 45 min.) da schon kaltes Bier auch nach draussen serviert wird =) Unbedingt mitnehmen, bedungungslose Empfehlung !!!

Was soll ich jetzt sagen, es gibt japanische Sushi Schnellabfertigungen und es gibt japanische Restaurants wie das Cocolo Ramen.
Die Preise sind ziemlich gesalzen, die Qualität finde ich vollkommen okay, aber auch nicht überragend, hier gibt es meines Erachtens ein Missverhältnis zwischen Preis und Qualität. Nicht falsch verstehen, die Qualität ist schon wirklich gut, entspricht aber eben halt leider nicht dem Preis. Hier weiß man, man zahlt die Miete für Mitte halt mit.

Beaucoup d’attente mais ça valait le coup, né pas confondre avec kuchi qui est un resto japonais «lambda» qui est juste à côté. Cocolo ramen né fait que des ramen ! Et qu’est-ce que c’est bon…

Urgemütliche, kleine Ramen-«Bude». Man sitzt um den Kochbereich herum und hat die Menschen quasi auf dem Schoß, aber gerade dann, wenn es nass-​kalt in Berlin ist, ist dies besonders schön.
Das Essen war sehr lecker und ich werde sicher bald mal wieder kommen.
Einziger Wermutstropfen: Toilette und Kartenzahlung müssen im Nachbarrestraunt aufgesucht werden.

zu sehr später Stunde noch eine Ramen und ein Bier bei Cocolo einzunehmen ist einfach toll. Dann gibts auch keine Wartezeiten mehr ;)

Berliner Winter, wie ich dich mag! Gerade dann, wenn der kalte Wind um die Ecken pfeift und jeder Schritt an der frischen Luft einer zu viel zu sein scheint. Denn dann, dann ist die perfekte Zeit für einen Besuch im Cocolo Ramen.
Klein die Tür, drei Stufen, dann erstmal Küche, sprich Töpfe und eine Theke, an die man sich setzen und den Jungs und Mädels beim Rühren in die Töpfe gucken kann. Hinten nochmal 3 Tische, das wars dann auch schon. Alles gut warm, das Fenster darf deshalb auch nicht ganz geschlossen werden, auch wenn es dann schonmal zieht, aber hej, wer will klagen wenn vor, hinter und um einen rum, Nudelsuppen dampfen und einen Duft verbreiten, der Traurigkeit unmöglich macht?
Eben! Später als 19 Uhr sollte man hier nicht aufschlagen, denn dann ist voll. Dann stehen die Leute geduldig von der Tür in den Laden, eng gedrängt und warten, dass einer sein Suppenschüsselchen geleert hat und ein Plätzchen frei macht.
Ja, es gibt auch Vorspeisen, Edamame-​Bohnen etwa und irgendwas mit Schweinebauch, aber da lesen wir jedesmal grosszügig drüber hinweg. Wir entscheiden nur zwischen Ramen mit Wantan, scharfem Hackfleisch, Tofu oder geräuchertem Huhn und stürzen uns dann Löffel voran in die schüsselweise dargebotene Köstlichkeit für ca 9 Euro
Ja, früher war es günstiger und gefühlt auch uriger und überhaupt die Suppe mit noch mehr Liebe angerichtet, als jetzt nach 2? 3? Jahren. Trotzdem kommen wir jeden Winter ein paar mal her.
Und für alle Glutenunverträglichen sei gesagt: Es gibt die tollen Suppen auch mit Reisnudeln!

J’adore la cuisine japonaise, j’ai été servi ! Très bons ramens parfumés comme il se doit, copieux on né sort pas du resto en ayant faim !
Prix corrects: 10 euros le ramen le plus cher et 3 euros une bière
Le resto est victime de son succès, préparez vous à un peu d’attente et limitez votre visite du resto à deux personnes, compliqué de manger en groupe vu le nombres de places

Ich mag kein Sushi, muss ich aber auch nicht. Denn im Cocolo Ramen (Next to Kuchi) gibt es alles was ich gerne mag. Und das ist vorallem
— Sake
— Grünteeeiscreme
— Edamame
— Ramen, Ramen, Ramen.
Ich fahr einfach auf Ramen ab, und hier ist es legger. Und lustig. Vielleicht bin ich aber auch immer nur wahnsinnig gut drauf, wenn ich hier bin. Ist aber auch nicht schwer nach einem Fläschen warmer Sake. Platzmäßig ist es hier ein bisschen beengt. Stört aber keinen, rutscht man eben ein bisschen zusammen. Richtig voll habe ich es eh nur einmal gesehen.
Die Bedienung ist auch durchweg richtig nett. Vorletztes Mal zu Beispiel wunderten wir uns zwar, dass es immer leerer wurde, merkten dann aber erst eine halbe Stunde nach Ladenschluss WIE SPÄT es eigentlich ist. Sind dann gegangen und haben es mit viel Trinkgeld wieder gut gemacht. Rausgeschmissen hätte uns da scheinbar keiner.
Das einzige Problem ist, dass ich keine Ahnung habe, was das Essen eigentlich kostet, denn ich schmeiße jedes Mal ein Wahnsinnsgeld raus, wenn ich hier bin. Für zwei Personen so um die 50 € ist für mich schon viel, aber wir essen und trinken auch immer wahnsinnig viel. Und dafür ist es dann eigentlich schon wieder vergleichsweise günstig.
Mein Lieblingsplatz: vorne gleich Links an der Bar. Mit dem Rücken zur Straße und der Bedienung hinter der Theke zusehen. Mehr brauch ich niht zum glücklich sein.
