I’m just reviewing the outdoor beach bar: good drinks, relaxed atmosphere, interesting people

it was pretty cool even the music is not my style. place cool, interior cool, drinks ok, music is soso. but we enjoyed to being there.

This place is Heaven for an old-​school hip-​hop and reggae fan. It’s Huge! I went on a Wednesday and the other 3 floors weren’t open but the 2 large rooms on the ground floor were enough — friendly bartenders and you actually get 1 euro off your drinks if you return the pin they give you upon returning your used glass. How nice! They also start to mix the old school w/​some trance dub later in the night in the hiphop room, which was very cool. That mixed w/​the ‘smoke’ in the air (hey, it’s a reggae club), makes for a very transcendent experience. Highly recommended!

I read Jonny Q’s review for this place while looking for a place to dance and vibe and it was just as funky as he described — the good funky kind. We arrived and went to the second floor where I two stepped and tried my very best to salsa dance, before heading downstairs to break it down to the hip hop. I can’t remember what music they played because the beers were € 1.50 so yeah I was out of it but I do remember they played super classic jams. It was a very good looking crowd too. Check the nights to go though because we went back the next day and it was as dead as disco.
Also tourist friendly as it is right next to the train and has a noodle spot on the corner.

Die Location ist durchschnittlich bis alternativ. Keine große Überraschung bei dem Standort.
Das Klientel ist ganz gut gemischt. Auch hier gibt es halt viele Touristen, aber wo hat man die im Sommer nicht?
Die Musik auf der Tanzfläche draußen war abenteuerlich, ohne erkennbares Konzept. Die Übergänge zwischen den Songs könnte man sehr euphemistisch als ‘holprig’ bezeichnen. Vielleicht war der DJ doch eher die Aushilfe für die Bar?
Alles in allem Frage ich mich wofür ich 10 Euro bezahlt habe. 5 hätten voll und ganz gereicht.
Die Location ist sonst vom Aufbau ziemlich cool und sehr schön gestaltet. Draußen gibt es einen Garten und Rückzugsorte. Man kann sich setzen und quatschen.

Tolle Lokalität im Freien. Nach der Arbeit sich treffen, quatschen und ein Bier genießen. Die Toiletten sind sauber und der Service ist gut.
In der Sommerzeit ist es auch möglich Kinofilme zu sehen.
Neu sind der Spielplatz und das Essen vom Burgeramt. Sehr empfehlenswert.
Immer wieder gern.

much hip hop/​rnb music which I don’t like but cool place and nice people.

Wow 5 stars from me but the fact that I went here 3 times over 5 nights is Berlin should explain how much I enjoyed it here!
Situated in East Berlin, nicely tucked into the area of next to Warshauer strass U Bahn — Cass’ is in what can only be described as a compound of derelict warehouses, funky bars with no frills and a vibe that is laid back and independent.
With 3 big club rooms and 3 bars inside — everyone is catered for on a night out. On the weds night I went to see rapper Pharoahe Monch, Friday was all about 80’s music/​indie/​rock and Hiphop while Saturday was more general cool tunes throughout with another favourite rapper ‘Shabaam Sadeeq’ playing live in the main room.
Cloakrooms are € 1, pints of excellent wheat beer € 2.30 and the bouncers actually are a pleasure to chat to. If only this was how clubs operated back in the UK!
If you’re in Berlin — you have to go here. Just check their website to see what’s on in advance. Just be warned — the German guys on the fussball tables upstairs are absolute masters. No matter how good you think you are, you will get your arse kicked! We did…

Sehr schöné Athmosphäre, gute Musik, tolle Leute — einfach schööön! :)

Mein Lieblingsclub! Hier gehe ich allerdings größtenteils gar nich wegen den Partys hin, sondern wegen dem tollen Personal und den Freunden.
Wenn man hier öfter ist, wird das mit dem Angebagger der Kerle auch weniger. Die merken das wohl, wenn man sich dort wie auf sicherem Parkett bewegt.
Im Cassio hab ich schon oft bis in den frühen Morgen gesessen. Vor allem im Sommer.
Meinen Geburtstag habe ich hier auch gefeiert. Erst draußen im Sommergarten und dann ging’s rein zum Tanzen. War nicht das letzte Mal. :D

lockere, einfache location, sehr sehr geil für konzerte.

This is a review for the daytime. This place is pretty awesome. An old railway station that’s turned into a multipurpose area. There’s a restaurant, an outdoor beer garden, a rock climbing wall and skate ramp. Some of the buildings are bombed out and many have lots of street art on them. A cool place to spend the afternoon. In the beer garden area beers are about 3 euros. Definitely check this place out of you’re in Berlin.

Einmal und nie wieder!
Ich bin echt nicht wählerisch, was musik angehtaber entweder waren an dem abend schlechte dj’s am werk, oder das nennen die 5 sterne geber coolabsolut kackeder dj hat auch strikt meinen musik wunsch abgelehntnormalerweise ist es ja so, das sie nicken, und es dann irgendwann kommtsei es nach stundenauch wenn es nicht kommtdie geste zähltund das sie meinen musikwunsch wenigstens wahrgenommen habenmeisst mit der info, das erstmal trotzdem die schon gelisteten lieder abgespielt werden. An sich die location.grauenhaft.ich hatte nur schlechtes von dort gehörtdachte mir aber, ohne es selbst nicht erlebt zu haben, kann ich darüber nicht urteilen! Und das publikum war sowieso zugedröhnt mit allem möglichen.bin keine moralapostel, aber so offensichtlich muss es nun auch nicht seinoder findet ihr es normal, wenn ein typ da stundenlang mit der tür tanzt?

und immer ein Musikangebot quer durch die Hauptstadt.

Die Musik und die Stimmung waren am Freitag ok. Da habe ich schon besseres erlebt. Vielleicht gehen wir an einem anderen Abend wieder hin.

Sehr geiler Club sehr geile Leute vormTresen genau wie auch da hinter. Die Musik is echt immer sehr fett komm auf jeden Fall wieder mal. Hier feiern.

This was my first (and sadly only) club visit in Berlin. It all started one Friday night with a visit to a very dull gay bar. (If I may add, the person who «led» us to the gay bar was not aware it was one despite the sign that said «This is a gay bar», and they had previously gone here with another guy who is also straight). However thanks to this visit we also discovered music coming from this sketchy looking area, which we visited the next night.
Initially walking into Cassiopeia I had no idea what to expect, I didn’t even know what the name of the place was. I was utterly surprised to see and hear rap & hip hop. I like the music but I just can’t dance to it. One of my friends felt the same way so we decided to explore. We moved onto another room which played some electronica type of music? I don’t know what its called but there were a lot of beeps and boops, and again I can’t dance to that… I don’t think anyone can unless they’re taking some serious drugs. Not my thing, so we move upstairs and I don’t remember what they were playing but we didn’t enjoy it enough to stay. At this point I am completely disappointed, and not so happy we let ‘guy who can’t even accidentally bring us to a fun gay bar’ drag us back here when I wanted to go to Berghain or anywhere else. We give hip hop another try but quickly abort that again and decide to give the upper floor a better look. Let’s just say I’m glad we came back up stairs. I danced away to some oldies with two girl friends and we also got a show. Some b-​boys came out and despite the fact that I was kicked twice, I enjoyed their moves (the first kick occured right after I told my friend the last time I stood in a circle around a break dancer I got kicked… ironic much?). I’m just glad I got my chance to dance. It ended up being a fun night, and I even wanted to come back. But failed to do so.
*fyi-​The fact that I thought one of the b-​boys was adorably cute might be a slight factor in my desire to come back.

Die Musik war Cool und auch die Menschen waren schräg drauf, also ein schöner Abend.
Die Luft hätte besser sein können.

Am ende einer Nacht sid wir hier angekommen, und mir hat es gar nicht gefallen.
Aber die Lage habe ich total toll gefunden.

Need I say more. This place is the epitome of cool!
I was going to say I was there at summer time, but actually it was October, but there was a heat wave for two days of 30 degrees so as you can imagine it was lovely to relax in the beer garden there.
The area is very vast, you can decide to have a few drinks in a massive sand pit with deck chairs, alots of the walls are decorated with graffiti, I guess it’s for the arty folk, and well if you’re in Berlin, you’ll probably fit right in :)
Good price for drinks too!

Nice for a Friday night and you don’t know what to do. Its nice in the summer time because you can hang out in the garden/​abandoned graffiti buildings. The crowd is pretty mixed with people from various alternative scenes as well as your normal people, who are probably mostly students or under 30. When you think of Berlin, this is a pretty cool «East Berlin» club.
Its a good place to go after a few beers along Simon-​Dach for some 80’s dancing.

The food is not great, but the price is right. Going here is an awesome experience. The outdoor bar/​beer garden is housed in the graffiti lined brick walls of a factory in ruins. The outdoor bar is fantastic, and makes for an ideal day drinking venue, weather/​season permitting. The outdoor theater is also very cool, and it’s located in a very cool part of East Berlin.

Public Viewing/​Deutschland vs. Frankreich/​Damenfussball
Man/​Frau lud mich ein… zu einer Veranstaltung an einem Ort, der mir bis dato noch verwehrt war. Warum? Ich weiß es nicht. Ein illustres Veranstaltungskonglomerat, auf dem ehemaligen Reichsbahngelände der ehemaligen DDR, bestehend aus Kneipen, Biergarten, Freiluftkino, Kletterwand und was weiß ich noch. Herrlich urban, naturbelassen und von bunten Menschengestalten durchwuselt. Einfach ein Platz, an dem man sich wohlfühlen kann/​muss.
Eingeleitet wurde die Veranstaltung mit einer Diskussionsgruppe von Frauen verschiedener Nationalitäten, die Beiträge abgaben zu den Geschlechter-​Situationen in ihren Ländern. Das hatte zwar nichts mit Fussball zu tun, aber die Entwicklung des Frauenfussballs ohne Frage ein Thema, das damit eng verknüpft scheint. Wenn man bedenkt, dass Mannschaften aus Ländern an dieser WM teilnehmen, in denen Frau keinen besonders geachteten Stellenwert besitzt. Nehmen wir das gern als eine Art Befreiung…
Dann begann das Spiel… katalysiert von einem Heineken und abgeschlossenen Wetten… lach. Ich tippte auf 3:0 für unser Team/​Deutschland. Einfach mal so… Kenner der Materie und immer auf den Glauben an die heimische Kraft bedacht.
Mutig umringt von zuversichtlichem «Gedam» und maskulinem Fachpersonal, schlich sich die erste Halbzeit unspektakulär dahin. Naja, abgesehen von 2 recht einfachen Toren. Die französischen Damen pennten zwei mal ziemlich nonchalant in der Hintermannschaft, sodass es den deutschen Köpfen erleichtert wurde, das Rund aus Kunststoff ins Netz zu bugsieren.
Halbzeit Zwo: Nun etwas spritziger und rasanter. Germanias Ladies juckten voller Siegesgewissheit über das gesamte Feld. Pässe aus Träumen geschmiedet und Aktionen, die einen Zungenschnalzer provozierten, machten das Match zu einem Lagnese-​Leckerbissen. Dennoch ließen sich die Mademoiselles nicht davon abhalten auch ihr Köpfchen zu benutzen und rückten das Ergebnis etwas zusammen. Dann kamen die Turbulenzen: Foul — Platzverweis — Elfer! Cassiopeia tobte… Was ein Träumchen. 3:1.
Doch die Gallischen Hennen ließen nicht locker. Selbst in numerischer Unterlegenheit gelang ihnen der Anschlusstreffer, der ihnen jedoch nur kurze Freude bereitete. Auch im Frauenfussball wird mit Wasser gekocht und das deutsche Wasser war am gestrigen Abend heißer und sprudelte vor Kraft und Energie. Das 4:2 besiegelte die Überlegenheit einer Crew, die auf dem besten Wege ist, zum dritten Mal am Stück Weltmeister zu werden.
Merci! den französischen Damen, denn sie waren ein ebenbürtiger Gegner. Unterlagen jedoch der feineren Spielkultur und dem stärkeren Willen nach Sieg. So ist das nun einmal… und wer weiß, vielleicht sehen sich die beiden Mannschaften im Finale wieder. Möglich ist alles, denn: Der Ball ist rund.

I have no clue, Why people get so excited about this place. All i remember are a bunch of really young people, many dark halls and weird music.

Mir gefällt der Club. Für mich der beste in der Revalerstr. und Friedrichshain überhaupt.
Die Musik ist immer gut gewählt (ob Dancehall, Electropop, Hiphop oder Reggaeton). Da hat jemand seine guten Finger im Spiel. Mich interessiert, im Gegensatz zu den meisten Kommentatoren, der Garten nicht so sehr. Im Sommer kann man da etwas Luft schnappen, aber das Highlight ist für mich der Club.
Es gibt 2 Dancefloors auf 2 Ebenen, der obere kann über das Treppenhaus oder die Feuertreppe erreicht werden. Jede Etage hat ihre Bar, aber nur oben gibt es Toiletten. Irgendwo im Gartenbereich nochmal, aber die haben einen Zeltlager-​Charme.
Sehr oft gibt es kleine aber feine Hiphop-​Konzerte (bzw. Live-​Darbietungen, den es ist sehr familiär ohne sonst typische Distanz zwischen Performern und Publikum)
Minuspunkt:
so gegen Ende (zwischen 5 und 6) wird der Laden von eigenartigen Gestallten geflutet. Wenn man dann noch mit einem der dann relativ raren Mädels auf der Tanzfläche ist, wird man unentwegt von MiHiGru-​Typen angegangen (bzw. die Mädels). Ich fand es echt ätzend. Tut mir leid, dass ich das so hart sagen muss.

Der Club ist ein Todschlagargument für Türpolitik im allgemeinen. Da kann JEDER rein und macht es auch.
Wenn gerade wieder Stütze überwiesen wurde, wimmelt der Club von Menschen aus dem RTL Nachmittagsprogramm.
Das Bier ist gut, denn es kommt aus der Flasche.
Bei meinem letzten Besuch tanzte ein etwa 40jähriger Hardstyler in extraterrestrischen Zuckungen auf der Bühne und lies sich von einer Meute sedierter Halbpubertärer Baggypants-​Träger feiern wir ein Pokemon. Das ist auch der Grund für die zwei Sterne. Sonst hätte der Club nämlich keinen.
Im Club sind mehr Kinder als in einer thailändischen Textilmanufaktur. Der übliche Gast ist zwischen 12 und 14 Jahre alt und bringt für gewöhnlich seine Eltern mit. Das muss man abkönnen!
Dresscode: Versiffte Drecklocks, Buffalo-​Plateauschuhe und keine Haare am Sack.

Zumindest habe ich da auch mal nen leckeren Crêpe gegessen: D
und wie schon gesagt: wem es da zu dreckig ist, der soll nach Hause gehen ;P
Musikalisch ist es recht bunt gemischt. Es überwiegt aber so Metal, Hardcore und dann so Hip Hop.
Sehr cool isses im Sommer, da kann man prima draußen sitzen :)

Nighttime review only (the place becomes a multi room club and bar). And of course, as a non-​native, I can’t comment on the German crowd, just the crowd we were with.
This was the last stop on the Alternative Berlin pub crawl when I went to Berlin in the summer of 2008. By this time we were all pretty soused and had just witnessed our tour guide puking his guts out right after getting off the U-​Bahn. Seems like he does it often enough, too: he kept chanting «just keep rollin’, rollin’, rollin’…» between heaves. Time was about 2:30AM and the place was hopping. There was a cover — I want to say 10 euros or less — and then we were in.
Anyway, that sets the mood…
There were several bar areas and dance floors. I don’t remember exactly what I got, but I do remember that the ground floor bar has bottles of apple cider and some beers as well. Cool tidbit: When you buy a bottle, they give you a ‘cassiopeia’-labeled badge pin. When you return the bottle with the pin, they give you 50 cents back. I actually deliberately did not return a bottle so I could keep a pin for souvenir purposes (and then I lost it anyway. sigh.)
The upper floor is more chill while the lower floor is very dancy. When I was there, the upper floor had reclining chairs that you could lean back in. There’s also funky chairs to sit in if you go outside.
I had a lot of fun here, and I can’t think of any bad things to say about this place. During the day you can more visibly see its origins as a bombed out wartime factory, which is very cool. I’m glad they’ve turned such a wretched place into something so great, so it gets my seal of approval!

Seit 2005 gibt es nun schon den Club Cassiopeia. Eine umfunktionierte Industriehalle auf dem RAW– Gelände (RAW für Reichsbahnausbesserungswerks).
Ein kreatives Club– und Freizeit Gelände wo das Cassiopeia ein feste Instanz ist. Im Sommer mit einem alternativen Biergarten, wo in den warmen Monaten auch das Cassiopeia Freiluftkino läuft.
Ein Club mit Herz und Blut von Menschen geführt, denen ein weltoffener und kreativer Ort für Musik, Partys, Tanzen, urbane Kunst und Kultur wichtig ist.
Die Künstler aus aller Welt schätzen das ebenso, wie das Berliner Publikum, welches schon seit Jahren immer wieder gerne in den Club auf dem RAW Gelände kommt.
Hier gibt es Musik mit regelmäßigen Partys, Resident-DJ’s und internationalen Top-​Acts aus Hip-​Hop, Reggae, Dancehall, Drum’n’Bass, Elektro und Punkrock. Aber auch viele verschiedene Live-​Bands aus aller Welt.

Cassiopeia ist echt vielfältig. Biergarten, Grillwurst und Klettern am Tag; am Wochenende gibt‘s jetzt nen Flohmarkt (RAW-​Gelände), der noch nicht so übervölkert ist, wie der am Mauerpark; am Abend Party oder Freiluftkino (im Sommer) und zu jedem Event eine Special-​Party oder Konzerte.
Lange Zeit war es die einzige Adresse, wo gute Rap-​Parties veranstaltet wurden… jetzt sind sie leider etwas inflationär geworden, man kann zum Teil schon die Abläufe der Songs voraus sagen, naja, und die Touri-​Gruppen haben es entdeckt.
Aber das Cassio bleibt trotzdem einer meiner Lieblingsclubs! Und das nicht nur, weil der eine Türsteher so heiß aussieht!

Das Cassiopeia liegt mir sehr am Herzen, weil man da im Sommer das Freiluftkino für angenehme 5 oder 6 Euro genießen kann.
Es ist nicht so, dass ich noch nie zu einer College Rock Party oder bei dem ein oder anderen Konzert da war aber im Sommer lässts sich dort einfach im Biergarten noch besser aushalten. Bei gut besuchten Konzerten kann es auch schon mal sehr eng werden, was meistens aber nicht stört.
Egal ob Biergarten, Kino, der im Innenhof stehende Kletterturm oder Konzerte und Partys, das Cassiopeia ist rockt fast immer.

really cool place. definitely have to check this out if you come to berlin. the skate park inside is also cool to watch. the outdoor theatre in summer would be worth going to also.

Two level club set amidst rubbly DDR buildings next to the S-​bahn. I’ve only been once, but enjoyed the music upstairs: classic 80s/​90s dancehall, well DJ’d. A live act was playing downstairs (you walk through that space to get upstairs, and to the toilets): something to do with German guys and rap. The bar upstairs had good, professional staff (front door staff was good too) and it wasn’t too hard to get a drink. Some hardercore rasta types hanging in the corners to listen to the music and watch the German girls try to whine n grine.
Crowd was in their 20’s and pretty tame/​normal. I’d go again to listen to the music upstairs, but that’s all. Though the fact that Tenor Fly is playing there live tonight (a dancehall classic) impressed me.
Accessibility from Warschauer Strasse S-​bahn may be a plus for some.
